Im just hoping we dont give away any of next years picks to this year. Mid next year they will be talking about how strong the draft is going to be, they do it everey year.

Any decent person who has spent time at a club could and might say something similar. He was always leaving like TB was.

I agree and enjoy your posts generally, but your take on this one is playing the man and not the ball.
Exactly, so look at how TB handled himself at the B&F with absolute class vs Baker. Likewise, perhaps we’ll have to agree to disagree on this one and move on 👍

If our worst case scenario plays out, meaning no talls go before our pick (except Tauru) then trading pick 12 to the Roos for their F1 is probably the smart play. They will probably do it too as they will likely be really keen on a tall like Shanahan or Armstrong given they've ignored drafting talls for so long. As much as I dont like delaying gratification its probably a top 5 pick at worst next year.

For a Jack Billings type no less as well. It's really hard to say who's going to excel at that role at AFL level.

Yeah the Billings comparison basically sums up my reservations about Berry. He's crafty but a smaller forward who doesn't offer much physicality, does a lot of his work on the lead and is more comfortable in space than around a contest isn't for me.

Still convinced Hannaford is a more sound prospect.

Who are you hoping for ER?

I get why NM are probably the right team but is there someone else that can give us a F1 and maybe an R2 this year...

We'll need to give up more than pick 12 for the F1.

Maybe Hawks F2, but I'd do that probably. Only concern is that we'd want to be sure that there were 5 legitimate good midfielders (our F1 and Norths F1) that weren't tied to academy/father sons, in next years draft.

Would then want to use our hawks F1 and our 2026 F1 for basis of Warner deal.

Delaying first rounders another year does start to put us under real pressure though with the Reid clock.

So potential trades on here or in the press are

  • pick 12 for F1 North
  • Trading 2 x F2's to get a pick for Trainor (would this get it done? Sounds like he will be there in the 20's)

Taking advantage of North paying overs, we could make Trainor our first pick and turn our 2 x F2's into North's F1, probably a top 5 pick. 3 first rounds for next year, probably 2 of them top 5. Seems farfetched but wouldn't be surprised if something along these lines was brewing.

I'm not so sure. Clubs often pay overs to take the pick right now so i think North may do it given their desperation for talls. We may need to chuck some other late picks/swaps but doubt an F2.

Ginbey doesn't even need to make it as a mid if Hewett comes on and we draft this year and next year accordingly, it's just the unknown of the Hewett lost development that's piling the anxiety layers on hardcore.

FWIW, I see Ginbey as being a career HB who will rotate through the middle at times as needed.
Agree. As I’ve said before Ginbey will be AA at h/b.

Go listen to the new coach and new game plan and you will understand.
I assume the new game plan is Richmond with a dash of Melbourne.

Both teams have very good ball winners and rebound defenders .

I'm not that happy about going to a Richmond style game plan as the stand rule pretty much made that game plan impotent likewise ours .

The new rules have made the game plan overlap run and carry with precision short kicking .

194cm midfielder, plays inside and outside, one of the youngest kids in the cohort and showed a lot of development as the year wore on. In his last 8 games after he was BOG vs Calder he started hitting the scoreboard and he was finding a lot more of the footy.

You may recall I was pretty keen on us take Freijah last year as a wingman with our 3R. Not exactly the same player but they do share some attributes. Ough’s got a big frame, can exit the contest and has great hands.

He does get a lot of outside uncontested ball and the way he plays would need some work to fit into the proposed system but the talent and ability is there.

Anywhere from 35-55 IMO, but I think in the 40s is most likely.
Thanks

Yes I was also keen on the idea of Freijah last year. Wasn’t disappointed to take Hall, but was disappointed to trade up for Hall when JF was an option

I took that as a short term write off, nothing wrong with staring in defence and transitioning to the midfield over time.

Don’t see why he couldn’t at worst become a version of Rowbottom in there, if that’s where he was required.
Rowbottom is a very poor outcome for a pick 9, especially a pick 9 we traded down to.
Rowbottom nothing more than a role player

Why would NM want our pick 12?

They have 2x end of first round picks shortly afterwards
