On the same token WCE future first + is about the mark for pick 11.

100%.

We say end up with pick 4 2025.

Heavily compromised draft plus players with flight risk see's our options drop from 4 to players ranked 6 or 7.

You always factor in a discount bringing a pick forward a year.

All of a sudden 2025 pick 4 is valued at a similar level as 2024 pick 9 or 10.

Keep our F1. It's a top 3 pick. Even with academy/father sons its got to be worth more than pick 11.

Pick 11 + 24 is what we should be asking for for our F1

But Twomey pretty much ruled us out of trading our F1 in his phantom yesterday

"The Eagles will use at least one of their late picks and possibly two after their top-30 selections come through. They are among the clubs to be open to spending a future first-round pick to get back into the early stages of this year's pool, but it would be the selection tied to Hawthorn and not their own."

For all those thinking Hotton would be a good pick, check out his body language when asked how his knee is going. He is only 18 so what do you expect (sorry Matty - you have no excuses) but not a good thing to be scratching your neck when asked about the knee. (Please put in your 10 cents WCE_phil )

Looks like Hotton went to the Matty Clarke school of Bluffing and Negotiations. Please, can The Don intervene and just say no. Noah Long does not need the company of a Sandringham Mummy's Boy in rehab from day.

He is not yet running.
The ACL repair did not go as well as expected.
He had a follow up "clean out

Twomey ruled us out trading our future 1st?

That's a relief then.

Thought the crazy guy in charge was called Clarke?

Anyway.........one .ore sleep thank goodness.

Hotton would be a really dumb pick for us IMO.

He's injured and we shouldn't be risking limited draft capital on anyone who has had a serious injury.

2nd round sure. But not our 1st rounder.

I wouldnt be against it personally but his mails normally pretty good

The ESPN guys also said they think we're shopping Hawks F1 along with our F2 so it seems pretty consistent

We'll see I guess

Agreed

Both seemed happy to move and both have had interest from us (as well as other clubs around our pick)

Wouldn't be the worst seeing them both in WA with Olli as a train on at WC.

I re-watched some of Harvey Johnston's tapes and in half the chains he's passing it to Murphy Reid so I'm sure they're good mates both being Sandy boys as well.

I'm hoping HJ has a break out year, I feel he has all the attributes to carve out a great career.

What would we hope to receive back for Hawks F1 and our F2? That’s probably two top 24 picks

Richmond 11 or GWS 15?

Murphy Reid and Johnston trained in the off season together too

Why did we so readily trade if top [emoji[emoji6][emoji6]] picks are so hotly contested? Is there a chance we could have split the pick multiple times and hoarded late firsts/future picks?

North can’t even split pick two for something decent despite months of trying to be fair.

Think the best offer they’ve had is pick four and a couple of future thirds.

I'm not sure whether to commend you for the dive, or tell you to get out and touch the grass.

Bit disheartening if true. Was starting to warm to him if Reid is unavailable.
Would gladly take a risk if he slid to the 2nd round, maybe.

I am hearing there is considerable backlash at St Blunders with the club desperately needing midfielders taking Tauru and Travaglia. Whilst I see Toby long term as an outside mid who is also the attacking option off half back, why would they go past Allan, Lindsay, Reid and Hotton?

There again, I think we at West Coast know what that is like.

Apologies for the intrusion, but I’m hoping to get some insights on Bo Allan, as he’s now being heavily linked to us with pick 6.

Given he’s from Perth and was previously linked to your first pick until it became clear he’s likely to be drafted earlier, I figured you’d have a good read on him. Personally, I’m struggling to get excited about him, so I’d really appreciate any thoughts or a bit of a rundown on what he brings to the table.

He projects similar to Ginbey imo as a ballpark comparison.

Big defender who has potential to be a contested midfielder.

Potential being the key word though. It’s why some on our board have had similar thoughts as you when he was linked to us.

Why did we so readily trade 3 if top 10 picks are so hotly contested? Is there a chance we could have split the pick multiple times and hoarded late firsts/future picks?

Because our new Super list manager
Clarke Kent was exposed to his kryptonite - negotiating , maybe best I reword that successful negotiating.

He played his hand too early and basically told all who would listen how much he was going to spend before the auction has started.
Surprise , surprise ( not ) the opening bid and final bid was the very same as he had forecast pre auction.

All I can tell you is the majority of this board was extremely pissed when we traded down from 3 to 12 because they thought we'd done it just to take Allen at 12

Be quite funny if he ends up going as high as 6

Is it worth pick 3 though?

Looking at our favourable draw and current health of our list (throwing salt over my shoulder) I can see us winning 8-10 games next year. Looking at the last 5yrs, 10 wins is 40 points, and % will be the key to whether that's 11th or 14th on the ladder (So long as we avoid the flogging).
