The underlying issue though is still about players wearing/not wearing unforms that contain messaging that they don't support.

I've said it numerous times already that players need to go out there and just do what they're paid to do and leave all the other stuff at the door.

What happens if a group of players elect to boycott pride round and the team ends up losing a sponsor over it?

All these types of situations have potential repercussions attached to them and if players decide to put themselves before their club/sport then they have to deal with the consequences.

This instance is much more a Choco Williams event than the pride guernsey events. Choco openly defied the club to make a statement against the major sponsor. As a flag coach they couldn’t do anything at the time, but he certainly took a hit the second he did that. And it no doubt is one of the reasons he never got a look in for another senior gig. Sponsors are critical to the success of clubs and sports.

The irony with that post too is that many of the people who liked it were the same people who were playing the victim card for those who were refusing to wear pride guernseys.

Stuff like this is why I always find this place so highly amusing.

I doubt very much she’s actually the driving force behind the decision. I expect more that she’s been used by a bunch of woke, white morons that believe they’re above the sport.

If you knew many aboriginal people, you’d know that by nature they are mostly very shy and retiring outside of their own mob. She may be different, but I very much doubt she would have been keen for a front page story for a couple of weeks and risking the entire sponsorship deal to fall over because of her. My money is on her preferring to have dealt with this privately with NA. I mean, she wasn’t even playing in the game that caused the issue. Almost no chance that she’s the hey driver. The genesis yes, but little doubt that she was swept up in a much stronger current.

As I said, for some reason the US voters, all 5 who go out and vote equate age to country running experience. The reason it appears the USA is being dragged back to the 50s could very well be all these older generations craving the good old days. I am a firm believer their should be age caps. You need the younger generations coming through to freshen up the ideas and direction.

Professional athletes involved in a team sport and a club need to check their beliefs at the door. They have never been paid so much and its at the hands of sponsors who make this possible. Instead of the manly players boycotting the game and hurting sport they should have had it in their heads that Jersey sales, not to mention the win helps the club they play for and the younger players coming through. The same with the netballers. Obviously the Indigenous netballer was short on facts and held a misconception towards Gina and Hancock prospecting that 2 minutes googling would have proved valuable. Had someone at all, including Kathryn Harby-Williams who embarrassed herself last night bothered to do any research within 5 minutes of the Indigenous player voicing her concern privately, netball Australia would still be enjoying a $15m sponsorship.

In fairness, it has been a common complaint by minority groups that when issues of racism arise, those being the loudest voices against the racism are white people who have taken it upon themselves to tell said group they should be insulted and offended. And in this case he is also right when the Netballers are involved. The Indigenous player stayed private, it wasn't until team mates got involved and went public with the accusation against HP was when the issue blew up.

Oh god, self burn, those are rare. Firstly, it’s not similar as Gallam expected to be able to play, whereas with the Pride issue, the players simply attempted to pull out of the game without fanfare. These are not the same approaches. Secondly, and hilariously, the second article supports the possibility that I posed that tried to infer me a racist only a few minutes ago. Ballam was in private discussion with NA about not wearing the dress but then the entire group got involved, throwing climate change into the mix as a reason that none would wear the dress.

I didn't infer anything, you did all the infering..as you said self burns are rare.

The articles have really nothing to do with your posts which literally state it was driven by the player and the others supported her. (I know, they didn't feel the need to explain to her how indigenous people should act and feel)

The average life expectancy in USA is 79 or 76 for males & 81 for females.

They should be setting an upper limit of 70 entering into a new term as a minimum I would have thought.

If you read those articles, there is no suggestion the players took it public , merely it became public.

All seems messy and both sides appear to have been able to sort this out more maturely.

Age cap is the way to go. The way the US senate works is that 1/3 of the Sanitate is up for election every 2 years and the term length is 6 years. Some of those candidates if they win will be in the early to mid 90's. Chuck Grassley seems mentally ok although slow in speech but to contest the election is madness for the country. Dianne Feinstein has stated she wants to go on even though members of her party note a decline in her .
Quality of candidate needs to be made by the parties at the primaries.

Not to keep this in politics, but Gina is always an interesting sort. I'll probably never forgive the hundreds of millions they poured into getting the Super Profits tax repealed, which probably moved more of the nation's wealth into private hands than anything of the last 40 years.

We could have been Norway, etc etc.

But good on her. Hancock Prospecting have less than 50 employees, so it's hard to argue what they contribute other than the approximately 15c in the dollar they're paying in tax.

A quick google can come up with dozens of articles about Gina saying that climate change is just propaganda, and speaks of the efforts she's made to try and convince people that Climate Change doesn't exist.

The difference between the Pride guernsey and the HP logo is about $15M and the livelihoods of a league full of players.

I think the key difference is actually the Pride Jerseys are about inclusivity and supporting gay rights. Refusal to wear them is a blatant refusal to support that community.

The netball situation is a refusal to wear a brand on a much more acceptable basis.
