Lol I guess Craig Kelly doesn’t have the mental capacity to understand tides 🤣

Why Discuss Netball .....because the subject matter affects the AFL ....in fact it has affected FREO & by the way Cricket has also been impacted, is likely to be an increasing side-affect of "player-power" and Sports preparedness to introduce social causes into their sport

The AFL will not be immune to this .....the future could genuinely include player strikes & disruption to fixtures

Netball Australia facing a $25m sponsorship crisis with fears other firms will follow Gina Rinehart out

Netball Australia is in financial peril and facing a potential $25m sponsorship crisis after a player union revolt led to Hancock Prospecting walking away from the sport, with the possibility more key sponsors could follow.

It has been confirmed to The Australian that funding from Hancock Prospecting had also been committed to delivering netball programs in Indigenous communities as well as talent pathways for Indigenous players.

Ryan revealed she had been trying via the Australian Netball Players’ Association (ANPA) to have “direct communication to the players”. She said despite months of overtures to the union powerbrokers, they had not provided a time to meet.

“We have been advocating for a while to make sure that we are able to have direct communication to players, that’s something that we want to have,” Ryan said. “I’ve been asking since July to meet with the players’ association board and have never been given an opportunity.

“So I am all for having direct conversations and our reality is we need to have direct conversations – the fact that they’re saying they weren’t consulted on this deal, and yet there is an email to them on the 29th of July that tells them how the deal is being structured. I mean, what else were we meant to do?”

Ryan did not rule out engaging with gambling companies in an effort to keep the sport afloat.

“I know everyone’s got an aversion to betting, but we are the only sport that doesn’t have an association with a betting agency and that already financially compromises us,” Ryan said. “Whether it’s right or wrong for the sport, we don’t know yet.”

That seems to reflect very poorly on the Players Association.

The old saying - won the battle but lost the war - comes to mind.

By golly, you've done it.

You have disproved climate change. Those thousands of peer-reviewed studies and scientific consensus has been destroyed by your dumb meme.

Congratulations.

Easy getting a bite on this thread. No bait required just throw in a piece of string.

IMHO Telethons have been great initiatives to, in theory, provide extra funding OVER & ABOVE Govt allocations to hospitals .....extra equipment, new wards, and extra staff

However over the last few decades, it's my opinion, Govt's have factored in Telethon income into their health budgets and instead of it being over & above .....has instead replaced budgetted funds

Of course, I have no evidence ......but it's what governments do

Who controls Telethon funds and their usage after the event ?

Good post. In my younger days I recall the Good Friday appeals, where all the channels got together for a marathon session. I think it was for the ACH. I suppose lotteries came in, the local channels moved interstate and other things impacted the event.
That $71m in WA is great. We could use part of it.

Your posts are all so unintelligent that it is difficult to tell the difference between a serious post and a joke.

I presume the post I responded to was actually intended to be serious, and you are just embarrassed.

Well they don’t get paid and at the end of the day is counterproductive for the players. Results in potentially less money via tv rights which flows thru.

Like most things in life, a price is put on everything you do. The market determines the price and what someone is willing to pay.

Maybe they can just pivot their business model. Just play takeaway and/or delivery netball, everyone can pivot to that.

Oh. I know about brexit.

Because I'm able to open google and type Brexit.......

Yeh, I doubt it. I expect you get the same news feed as OGC. You’ve pretty much proven, by way of your little hissy fit, that you can’t explain any particular negative aspect of Brexit. But you do you.

Thank goodness BoJo has pulled out of a return as PM.

Sunak appears the choice they should have chosen in the 1st place with practical policies that shows he has a clue about the current economic conditions.

Badenoch was the one..but she has not put her hand in the ring this time and is backing Sunak

I still can't believe they voted in Truss knowing she was hopeless...

What Gina Rinehart did should be celebrated and the netball players association under Kathryn Harby-Williams needs to pull their head in.

I am all for people having an opinion and I have no issue with the netballers having an opinion of their sponsor. The issue was they went public. This outcry of they should have had an exemption by Harby-Williams was some of the most pathetic radio I have heard in a very long time. Under no circumstances should any professional athlete in a team ever be granted an exemption. I have no doubt that they went public to try and pressure Hancock Prospecting into the exemption and it backfired. In a major misreading of the room by the netballers, the vast majority of Australia sided with Rinehart. A simple 1 second google search by the indigenous netballer would have discovered Hancock Prospecting sponsors NAIDOC and she even has an Indigenous Scolarship Program. What a massive insult to have some indigenous person then come out and then play the race card of something Gina had no control of. She should be devastated because she clearly didnt bother to research Hancock Prospecting before choosing to insult them. Harby-Williams should also be embarrassed for her stance as she nor the other netballers never did their research.

You want to virtue signal, at least get your facts right.

We are talking about the US. Have you seen how many old farts are in both the House and the Senate?

Yeah, its the result of this image of experience the voting public go for. Its weird, its like they dont grasp most CEO's and corporate big wigs are in the late 40s and 50s yet only someone in their 70s has the experience to run a country.
