The best teams at NOT going back to back

If you read my later replies I was using the other cats logic in saying using the opposition to judge how good the Dynasty sides were.

I do not actually believe those teams are better in than 07-11 Cats but Hawks 08 does have a case as they actually played them.
Collingwood beat Geelong by 80 odd points in 2008. Pies GOAT team confirmed

Sydney 2014 and Freo 2013 were fricken awesome teams. WC 2015…probably a bit of an easier task for Hawthorn but hey it was still three flags.

Saints and Pies during Geelong years - excellent teams. No one doubts it

Crows and Giants against Tiges. Weak as piss. Are there any neutrals or even supporters of those teams who think otherwise?

Tiges had it easy - you know it, then got gifted the holiday scout jamboree flag of 2020. Wowee

A dynasty it doth not maketh

They looked weak as piss cause we smashed them. Not everybody can scrape through 3 point prelims with luck.

Look this is a circular argument which is best avoided. No one remembers the Crows and Giants from those years.

Buddy Swans, Fyfe’s manic pressure Dockers, Saints who made two years running and the Pies who were going for B2B. These are teams we think “how the feck did they not win a flag that year”.

Giants and Crows were minows. You know it

Just on 2008 (a very rare reflection for me on that awful day) but I wonder if the signs were there during the earlier finals that something was a little off with the team. The preliminary final win v Dogs was a very lacklustre affair and the QF win v Saints papered over a few cracks

Also they played a touch arrogantly that second qtr in particular when didn't do team things.

Anyway we move on
No I really think you should reflect more GE. It’s an important topic

Except crows finished minor premiers, Freo did not. Playing against baby Fyfe is not a flex. But we’ll leave it there. I won’t mention #freekickhawthorn

I think Richmond missed a big chance to go 3-peat 1967-1969 by leaving our run late in the season.

1967 we finished on top so no problem.

But in 1968 we were storming home but other results did not go our way and we just missed out.

1969 the same thing nearly happened again!
But in the second last round, Hawthorn lost to third placed Geelong at Kardinia Park as expected, but not by much.
Richmond though unexpectedly easily won against top team Carlton away at Princess Park.

Tigers replaced Hawks in the Four, and caused chaos in the finals by first trouncing Geelong and win with relative ease against Collingwood then Carlton.

So probably a sigh of relief for other clubs that Tigers did not make 1968 as they may have rampaged through the Finals as in 1969.

Could have been a Essendon vs Richmond Grand Final for the first time since 1943 and not been seen since. Pity!

Fair is fair mate. If they played you at The G well you have the advantage obviously. But they didn't.

They did play you at The G in 2019 in a tremendous game and only went down by a kick. That effectively changed your season and destroyed theirs. Well, that and The Hawthorn game the next week for them.

West Coast 2019 had every chance to launch a massive assault on a B2B but they were just mentally weak. And I'll be fair, bringing out that Rioli nonsense on the eve of their final against Geelong was just shambolic stuff from the AFL.

Eagles blew top 4 in the last game at home in 1993 also against The Cats and against Essendon in 2007, blew top 2. Both in their premiership years.

Nah but 2019 was the rematch. I think it would’ve played out the same way.
A 6 point victory when the opposition had one less man the entire game isn’t the same thing as the 50 point annihilation the eagles handed out.

They had by far the best list of that stretch and if they didn’t win in 2018 they would’ve won it another year.

Richmond were missing Rance, Cotchin and Nankervis in that 2019 game, West Coast were a mediocre team who had one good year, Richmond were 3-1 against West Coast between 2017-2020, West Coast were and still are Richmond's bunnies

HEAD TO HEAD
West Coast 27 - 23 Richmond.

PREMIERSHIPS
West Coast 4 - 3 Richmond

GRAND FINALS
West Coast 7 - Richmond 3

Think you need to look up the definition of bunnies.

2017 onwards Richmond 7-2 against West Coast, it's undeniably a fact that West Coast have been Richmond's bunnies since 2017
Can I choose 1991-1994 as my period?

You've cherry-picked a time when Richmond were at their very best and for some of it, the Eagles have been at their worst. Of course you will have a better win-loss record in that period. Regardless, Eagles were the best side of 2018 and it always tickles me how Richmond fans somehow think they were dudded out of a threepeat instead of not being good enough that year.

And between 2017-2020 when West Coast played finals each year Richmond went 3-1 against them, West Coast had one good year and were lucky premiers that year too

Lucky premiers that won the premiership missing three AA players. But poor Richmond had 5 players with Gastro 😢.

Richmond should thank West Coast for losing any motivation after 2018, because the talent discrepancy between the two teams was enormous.
