Given the choice, I would take Cahill over Dann. There is a problem with bringing one of them in that no one discusses and that is, who leaves? I don't think having 3 CBs all capable of playing first team football sitting on the bench/reserves is a good idea. It would also hamper the progress of Wisdom who is going to be a beast and a player I would like to get some games this season (either in the cups or as a sub in some league games when winning comfortably).

Carra has said he doesn't want to sit on the bench and he is not ready to retire, Skrtel and Agger are too good to not be starting and Soto would be a decent 3rd or 4th choice which I don't think he would mind at this stage of his career.

It would have to be one of Skrtel, Agger or Carra. Agger is absolute quality when fit so I would love to see him as first choice along side Dann/Cahill. However that seems unlikely so I think we may see Skrtel with Dann/Cahill with Agger leaving and Carra fazed out becoming a bit part player. I seriously hope Agger stays fit as he is one of my favourite reds and he is brilliant.

Or would we be better off switching formation to suit 3 CBs such as a 3-5-2?

I'd just prefer we have adequate cover for when Agger is injured.

The ideal pairing is Agger/Dann. If that forces out one of Skrtel or Carra then so be it. However, given Agger's injury problems, other players should get enough games to keep them happy.

If Carra wants to be remembered as a true Liverpool clubman he's going to have to graciously accept a lesser bench role at some stage. Can't be acting like a prat and putting himself ahead of the team at this stage of his career..

I agree but the club and Carra are in a difficult position since he signed a new contract last season. I think if we do get Dann he will see the writing on the wall.

Apparently Enrique was 5.5m in the end, less than what I thought it would be.

As for the CB situation, most reports say we're jostling with Asenal for Scott Dann and Per Mertesacker and we'll take one each. But the two clubs aren't keen to raise their prices competing so some cat and mouse is going on.

Whoo! game this weekend! (i hope)

Enrique apparently undergoing a medical with us today. Good signing, it would have been even better had he been able to play a couple of pre-season games with us but I'm sure he'll settle into the team pretty quickly. Enrique at LB and Downing at LW is a pretty handy left side.

Hopefuly now we get one of Dann/Cahill (Dann appears more likely - plus our CB pairing could then be Dann-Agger :p) which would leave us with a pretty decent mix. I'd still like to see a few go and for us to sign one more striker but LB and then CB are rightly the priorities.

Enrique deal all done, could well start today against Sunderland. Rumour is Aurelio is injuried himself again, god knows how.

Rumored line-up

Reina, Flannagan, Agger, Carragher, Enrique, Henderson, Lucas, Adam, Downing, Suarez, Carroll

Should have kelly over flannagan and surprised to see suarez starting

Line-up to be confirmed soon
