The Bigfooty NBA Week 17 Thread - "Insane" trade sees Aussie NBA Star Kyrie Irving headed to the Mavericks

Blazers social media is melting

Dont see a whole lot wrong considering we werent landing any of the big fishes.

Thybulle for GP2 makes more sense positionally and I never like GP2's contract. Hart sucked this year as well.

Don't mind the deal for you, as you can try in the offseason to acquire a better fitting SF, but to say the guy who had the equal best +/- on the team 'sucked' is a bit perplexing.

Some weird-ass deals being done on deadline day. Second round picks being thrown around like confetti.

* Milwaukee sending out 5 or 6 second round picks, Ibaka, Hill and Nwora for Crowder

* Nuggets sending 3 second round picks to the Lakers for Thomas Bryant

*Clippers sending 2 second round picks to the Nuggets for Bones

* Griz sending 3 second round picks to the Clippers as part of the Kennard, Gordon, Green, Wall deal

* Celts sending 2 second round picks to the Thunder for Muscala

* Sixers and Hornets both acquiring 2 seconds apiece as part of the Thybulle/McDaniels 3-way trade

* Rockets getting another two second rounders from the Hawks as part of a salary dump

* Dubs getting 5 second round picks from the Hawks - did they really send out SEVEN secound rounders? - as part of the Bey/Wiseman 3-way deal

* Thunder getting yet another second rounder from the Suns as part of the Saric/Bazeley deal

* Magic getting a second rounder from the Lakers as part of the Bamba/Bev swap

* Pels sending four second rounders to the Spurs for Josh Richardson

By my count that's roughly 32 second round picks dealt in the last few hours, not including the big trades from yesterday. Can't decide whether Sam Hinkie would like this or not.

The milwaukee trade for crowder is insane. Dont even remotely understand why theyd pay that much.

The richardson trade i do understand although im not sure it works long term.

Dubs trading 5 r2s for a fringe player is a bit odd too.

Hahaha, Dubs now sending five secound rounders to the Blazers for Payton Jr.

Some nice homecoming stories - Payton, Poeltl back to the Raps, Gordon to the Clips, Hill to the Pacers, Crowder back to Wisconsin...

... and John Wall, straight back to Houston. I bet that made his day.

Wall will get waived imo.

Think it was more about getting off Graham's contract for us, Richardson's contract is expiring.

Short term, he might be a better fit at shooting guard than any of the back up options we've used this season. We've had our only true two-guard playing defacto point guard most of the season, and backup minutes have been shared between players who are either point guards, small forwards or non-shooters.

Don't mind the deal, not really happy with the course of events that led to us paying a first and three seconds to turn Lonzo into Josh Richardson though.

Wall will get waived imo.

Nothing surer, it's just amusing considering what he has been saying in the media in recent weeks.

Damn no shooting help for the cavs, looks like they probably got priced out by a bunch of scrubs going for 5 2nd round picks

Think you're fine. Just because you can make a move doesn't mean you should.

Ideally you turn LaVert and/or Love's contract space into another shooter in the off-season, when there are better deals to be had. Your main guys are all in their early-20s, no rush.

I haven't seen it yet but what was the John Wall trade?

Biggest winners and losers from the deadline for the short term?

Lakers
Suns
Mavs

Probably in that order, maybe the Clippers as well. Don't mind the Nuggets getting a back up C that isn't the corpse of Jordan
I would say in this order:

Boston, Bucks and Philly (East becomes so much weaker)
Suns (All in on a superstar)
Clippers (sneakily a lot better)

Not sure I would put Mavs and Lakers as winners as any move they made were gazumped by others in the West (Mavs I am still very apprehensive about given Kyrie is pretty toxic and he will likely spurn the team). Can we count Memphis as potential losers as their Division got so much harder at a time they are starting to slide anyway.

Memphis probably the biggest losers

Lakers i agree but they also got drastically better, they went from having no hope in hell to eh you never know.

Also agree on the East comment but they will still need to face a West team in the finals, those contenders all got better and i am not sure any of those fringe moves made at the top of the East are huge needle movers.

Agree on the having to face a West team - though the west playoffs will be very bruising which could take a toll. In the East, I can see sweeps until they hit Conference finals.

Nets, the nba fans owe you one for this wonderful trade deadline carnage.
Nets - 10 years ago they traded for Garnett, Pierce and others for their future.

They did it again only 7 years later. Wonder how many mirrors were smashed in that organisation.

I've followed okc closely this season so seen bazely play. My take is he's wildly inconsistent on offence but is solid as a wing defender with good switchability. He can be an effective shot blocker too. Suns just need to give him a simple role like concentrating on defence only. Low risk high reward imo.

What a character.

A Bryant back in Colorado. stewie griffen will be excited.

Buyout market will be interesting with Wall, Westbrook and Reginald Jackson likely available
