Kane I cannot understand the venom aimed towards Doughty by some on this board - from what I have seen his skills are excellent, he gets the ball and he hits targets.

As for his supposed lack of hardness - frankly I find that a tad confusing as I don't see any strong evidence.

Think the Crows rate him highly and I would be surprised if he's not in starting 22 thoughts by Craig.
WW, you would know that I have been a supporter of Dogga & I agree that he has been unfairly maligned. He is an honest player who will play games for us this year as we will have injuries, but IMO he is no longer in our best-22. Who would be you best-22?

WW have to agree completely. As I said on another post Doughty will play good games for this club again this year.

He has the ability to set up many goals downfield with his thoughtful use of the ball and he can play.

You are also right wih your comments on Bode WW. Unless he can quickly improve his goalkicking skills he will lose his place now that there is much stronger competition for places.

With Sarge, Biglands, Birdman (on his bad nights), Thommo etc all unreliable shots for goal, particularly under pressure we need players in the forward half who have a much higher goal scoring percentage.

Bode may get into the 22 in our first game and play well at times this year, but he will have to because if he does not he will 6-8 players lapping at his heels.

This could only be good for the team and our overall performance.

I think he can do a bit more than that WW.

If all you are holding against him is his lack of accuracy when shooting for goal then thank the heavens above that those involved with the Sarges improvement in goal shooting were not listening to you.

I have always said we need grunt & mongrel in the side to compliment the high amount of class coming through & Bode can assist with the grunt where & when it's needed.

Had a bad couple of years mainly through injury & he deserves a chance this year to impress the coaching staff & i'm bloody sure Craig will give him that chance sooner rather than later.

I agree Noddy. He gives us stuff no other player does.

I'll post after I see the Grand Final

Regarding Dougie, dont know if he will play any AFL games this year or not, but I like the look of him. Still like to see him play next week to get a better picture of where he's at, but from what I saw he reminds me of a much more talented Matthew Lappin.

Regarding Bodey and Dogga, both give you 110W% but they have both reached their full potential and wont go from the backbone group.

Dougie on the other hand just might. ;)

Yeah, Bode has not improved his kicking (though love his quick hands & ball getting ability) & IMO he, Skippy & Doughty have been surpassed by Reilly, VB & Knights (who all have even more improvement in them).
Couldn't agree more.......I'm interested to see how some here handle that evolution. While Skippy Doughty and Bode can play the game with varying degrees of success, our first 22 must be stronger if they are not regular selections. Hopefully NC can also recover those donkey photos !!
