Are you saying that you think that nobody in the club admin made any significant poor decisions that showed poor judgement over that multi year period of time regarding the drugs issue at our club that they should have been held accountable for? Did these people make all the right calls? And should Nisbett and Barnaba be able to do whatever the hell they like and never communicate with the supporters about any of their decisions?
This argument makes no sense. Yes people made mistakes with letting players get away with too much. Do we want to sack them for that? It's probably a bit late now. Or do we want people sacked because they are doing too much?

You can't have it both ways

Are you just making that up, to suit yourself?

The polls which I saw on the news and over different, non-football fanatic, websites indicated otherwise.

Everyone i've spoken to about it in real life can see the holes in the situation.

He's the King of West Coast - not Nisbett or any other administration nobody.
The poll on PerthNow supported him not coming back, FWIW

Regardless of what site they're on, online polls are inherently biased towards more vocal groups. If you care, you vote your way; if you don't, you probably don't vote at all. I'm shocked that there was even one poll that didn't support his return...

Where are these quiet majority? Are they invisable too?

They're getting on with their lives, not posting on BigFooty or writing to the papers or arguing about this over a beer at the pub. So yes, as far as you're concerned I think they probably are invisible.

Which means the silent majority are a bunch of lazy pricks and their opinion is worthless?

Sorry, I thought this forum was just a means to voice one's opinion. You yourself are voicing your opinion on the issue albeit toward a different outcome.

You don't ask you don't get. There are many inconsistencies with the AFL's decision and their drug policy which needs to be addressed.

The least Nisbett could do is get Cousins back at the club after his actions in and around the club over the last 2-3 years. If he acted on Ben's actions earlier say in 2002/03 then maybe there wouldn't have been this crap since 2007.

I hate how people with a differing opinion discount the majority vote as either a bunch of sheep or uninformed and opinionated. You do realize that both our senior coaches past champions and senior players have also stated they want cousins back are they uninformed, opinionated or sheep? I dont think so. Dont be so arrogant to judge that everyone who does not see it your way is instantly an idiot.

Amen :thumbsu:

I thought it was prescription not recreational. Ben is stupid but not that stupid, but it was still a breach of his contract. The AFL would have to impose the same penalties as west coast to any club he plays for. How is that fair otherwise??

And just for the record, Jeff Farmer has had just as many off field indiscretions and far worse on field but freo never sacked him and weren't forced to either. There is no consistency. You cant tell me me alcohol abuse and violence is less serious than drug abuse. Alcohol kills more people!

Cuz back to WCE. Nisbett listen to the fans!

Wasn't planning to comment on the WCE board but I can't let the comparison to Farmer go unchallenged.
  • Farmer does not consort with people who are on the organised crime squads hitlist.
  • In all his off field indescretions he has pleaded guilty and faced the music. My personal opinion is that until Ben faces up and takes the legal consequences of his actions he will never be rehabilited.
  • Farmer is involved now in working with alchohol related issues within the indigineous community. And has been for over 12 months. Whilst there has been talk of Ben doing the same I haven't seen any action.
  • Farmer was suspended and ultimately had his carrear cut short because of his temper, his antics and the risks associated with him.

And seeing the rest of the clubs circling like vultures, knowing that they are going to get quality at a bargain price, makes me sick.

West Coast Eagles = Dumb ****s.

Only two clubs are interested, the other 13 aren't circling.

And the "quality" they are getting is damaged goods - 30 years old, didn't play footy at any level last year, only played 7 odd games the year before, ripped his hamstring twice, a recovering drug addict, a potentially massive distractive presence, a very real chance that he will be unable to have any impact for his new club for all of those reasons.

There's a reason he's such a "bargain", and it's because he represents a massive massive risk to any club.

Keep telling yourself that. Having watched Cuz play since his first game for us, I have absolutely no doubt that he will recapture close to his best form and influence big matches for whatever club he plays for. Ripped his hamstring twice? Aren't we the club that still expects big things from Ash Hansen? Cuz is a champion with few peers, his leadership and mental toughness (on field) is second to no one.

No risk what so ever as a footballer.
Risk as far as image goes, sponsorship blah blah blah.

And here I was thinking the AFL was a football competition which footballers played in. Oh well you learn something everyday.

Footballers not required.

listen, get it through your thick ****ing head, its over...he isn't coming back to play for WC, I am sick to death of ****-stains like yourself who think Ben Cousins will be our saviour in the 2009 season, you need a serious dose of reality...and the reality is that you couldn't be further from the truth if you tried.

I support the board and have maintained for some time that he should've been sacked after the car/river incident.

no one individual is the king of West Coast, it is a team, not 1 person!

So you weren't cheering when he dominated games in the 2006 final series? ok, which team did you support then? Relax pal.

And what an amazing seven games they were...

Coincided with a durastic form surge which dragged a misfiring 07 season back from the brink culminating in us ultimately coming to within a whisker of another GF. Had he not ripped his hammie at 3 quarter time in the Port game I reckon we would have gone through to the GF, and given Geelong an almighty run.

On the other hand since 3 quarter time against Port we have won a total of 4 games in 26.

Bring back the Cuz.

Are you saying WC would do worse than 15th if they had Ben Cousins back?

Come one Fivey, you know he will rip it up next year. Maybe not as much as he use to, but he would be a very handy addition to any midfield looking at a flag within the next couple of years.

Ummm... you do remember we are talking about meaningless polls, don't you? (and that I was including myself in the silent majority?)

My point is that a vast majority of people feel no compulsion to participate in them at all, and the odds are that the outcome of that poll will always favour those who are most committed to their point of view. In this case there are far more "fervent Cousins backers" than "fervent Nisbett supporters", hence the inevitable outcome.
