No outrage would mean that we accept diving as a part of our game. No one wants that, thus the outrage.

That's the problem here, in a nutshell. You're asserting that he dived, and going on from there to justify the response.

You don't know for certain that he dived. On the other hand, what we do know for certain is that (i) the guy who hit him has been suspended for a week for high contact, (ii) that there was medical report that was taken into consideration, and that (iii) Oliver hasn't been charged for diving.

When I'm sick i go to the doctor and he says, whats wrong. I say I'm sick and he says yeah you're sick and asks how much time I need off work.
2 days I tell him and he says nah I think you need more and gives me a week.
Same with my compo claim for a sore back. He kept it open for longer than I'd thought he would and had to tell him to close it.
Doctors do 2 things.
1. Give you more time to get over your injury or sickness than you actually need.
2. Listen to what you tell them and base their report off that.

Why??
Because it's all about litigation and covering their arse.

The doctor didn't lie, he listened to the diver and diagnosed higher than the actual injury sustained to cover any chance of misdiagnosis or litigation.

After all, he really could have a fractured jaw from that tickle schofield gave him.

The bloke was hit in the jaw while the game wasn't being played. Need I say more. This is a serious case of tall poppy syndrome from non-Melbourne supporters and it's seriously embarrassing.

Are you joking? The only seriously embarrassing thing to take from this is Clayton Olivers' antics.

Why is this thread still going? Seems like the same 10-15 people up in arms, and nobody else giving a shit.

No one is up in arms. The kid has done himself no favours; his response to Damien Martyn wasn't called for. It was one of those "better to say nothing and let people think you're an idiot than reply and remove all doubt" moments.

A 19 year old kid made a fool of himself, just like the best KPD in the game did last week. Rest of the world will be over it next weekend.

Precisely. I'm on board with that. And the supporters who have said: wasn't a good look and hope it doesn't happen again, I agree with. It's the supporters who are performing mental gymnastics to try and represent a scenario wherein it's lucky Oliver got back to his feet, let alone played out the game that are receiving responses.

Most of us just enjoy the melting

I am serious. He was hit outside the time in which the game was being played. I don't care who you think he went down like, that's not on. It's assault is what it is, and the only reason it hasn't been called that is because they were wearing colourful jumpers.

You really are deluded.

Wow. Just, wow.

If somebody hits you from the left hand side which way do you normally fall? Why did he fall to the same way he got hit? Why did he pause after he got hit for a moment then fall over when he wasn't knocked out/concussed? I don't understand why anyone is even pretending for a moment he didn't at the very least exaggerate the hit. He took a dive and everyone knows it.

And we wonder why people like Trump get elected.

A dive gets schofield rubbed out for a week yet viney concussing our captain with a hip to the head leaving him in doubt for next week doesn't even get looked at... Something smells at AFL house..
To be fair I think viney's hit was in the contest as part of what football is, the results were unfortunate but it was a fair enough contest. Clayton deserves a 1 week suspension for diving though under the inciting a melee rule. Absolutely insipid display, he's made a fool of himself at a national level.

If we are going down that line, Oliver shoving Shuey in the chest prior to that is also assault, by definition.
