How is he not competent in your opinion?
Doesnt know how to utilise the majority of his players strengths.
For the talent on our list we are easily the most boring side in the comp.
Obsessed with the game looking a certain way. When we won the flag we had different gears, once teams worked us out we have done nothing to change it up.
Since the flag, if we cant keep a team below 75 points I reckon we lose 80-90% of the time.

We lost by 3 points against a widely tipped premier.
Not bad for a team with 6 new players.
Apart from our delivery in f50 still questionable I don’t see your point or anything of substance in your post.
Same style that resulted in 2 straight sets finals exits. Yay for close losses.

One game into a season and you’ve judged this?
Harsh.
I like the team dynamic today and think we’re in for finals year.
Its been the same for the past 3 years. What was different about today?

Cool let's just let him ruin a generation of players because he won a flag half a decade ago.
Also when a coach has a flag but then no other finals wins in the the 2 years before it and 3 years after it, is he the mastermind or did the playing group just click in a special circumstance season.

We did have a talented list. Our list now is behind about 10 teams.

I agree Goody has been really poor, and he has had a great list in the past, but our list isn't a great one anymore. And yesterday's game with 6 debutants against a flag favourite probably isn't a game to get overly angry about. Considering the conditions, the opposition and how many inexperienced players we had, I thought we looked pretty good. Were the better team for most of the match.

I think the talent is still there to be a top 4 team if everyone is being utilised correctly, the point is though that they rarely are these days. We turned it into a Melbourne game, we can still hang with the best when we are able to do that (just not as often as we used to in 2022 & 2023) .. think of the Geelong and Brisbane games last year.

The worry is that it wasn't a GWS game at all (conditions played a part) and they still beat us with plenty of their own guys still out. You've got to be able to win in different ways and I havent seen this since 2021.

Yep that's my biggest take out. That games exactly what we want and nothing like they want and they still beat us. If we can't look dominate with it as our sort of game we are a mid ladder side again

I disagree on the list. There's probably 10 teams ahead of us in quality. There's no way we have a top 4 list anymore. Ageing stars and absolutely zero depth and a F50 that is possibly the worst in the comp.

I think there is probably 10 teams in the comp that could be top 4, us included.

I'm glad we did those 8 points up with two minutes to go exercises in our practice match against North. Really helped us yesterday.

Might actually be the most pointless training drill in history.

Why not do 5 kick ins to defend and you have to stop it even getting inside your 50 or something you can actually train. Not a centre bounce that we won and kicked forward Im pretty sure which made the whole drill pointless

Finding easy marks from a set shot to wind down the clock would be another worth trying.

We beat Geelong by 80ish points in the prelim in 2021
Our midfield that day was

Gawn, Oliver, Trac
Viney Langdon Brayshaw

There's was

Stanley Selwood Danger
I.Smith Duncan Guthrie

This year our midfield is

Gawn Oliver Trac
Viney Langdon Lindsay

There's was

De Koning Atkins O'Connor
B.Smith Holmes Dempsey

We haven't won a final since that year, they've won a flag and nearly made another GF aswell.

In short. We are ****ing boring
