We beat Geelong by 80ish points in the prelim in 2021
Our midfield that day was

Gawn, Oliver, Trac
Viney Langdon Brayshaw

There's was

Stanley Selwood Danger
I.Smith Duncan Guthrie

This year our midfield is

Gawn Oliver Trac
Viney Langdon Lindsay

There's was

De Koning Atkins O'Connor
B.Smith Holmes Dempsey

We haven't won a final since that year, they've won a flag and nearly made another GF aswell.

In short. We are ****ing boring
yeah, Goodwin still has an over reliance on Gawn, Oliver, Trac and Viney in the guts, and they inevitably ran out of legs again yesterday. he just doesn't learn. we could have traded one of the ball butchers in Oliver or Viney out last year if we were bold and looking to evolve, but we didn't.

and for some reason Goodwin still thinks Salem is a good player as well and tries to free him up as a distributor. he had 30 disposals yesterday for a grand total of one whole score involvement LOL. nothing ever comes from his boringly safe dinky little kicks, so what is the point of him. Goodwin has massive blind spots when it comes to some players. he's just a lazy coach and always has been, how he's survived two reviews unscathed has got me beat.

I think there is probably 10 teams in the comp that could be top 4, us included.
We're not a top 4 list. I'll have to disagree with that. So you're saying we have as good a list as Giants, Swans, Dockers, Hawks, Lions, Cats? Who are genuine AA chances for us this year? A 33yr old Gawn. Trac if his body holds up? Koz at a stretch.our depth is really poor and a forward half that lacks any massive threat. I think we're a middle of the table at best list.

Where did I say we have a top 4 list? The top 4 lists aren't the top 4 teams every year.

Sorry, we aren't a top 4 capable list. We are in that bracket that could finish anywhere between 7th and 16th. I just don't see how our list is capable of making top 4. Handful of very inexperienced players now in our best 23. Ageing stars. Oliver not near his best. Depth that is poor. I just don't see it.

How funny is it to think that when we needed to score to win the game we put Langdon into the centre bounce and Trac to CHF. We picked 3 key forwards and Fritsch only to admit our most dangerous way of scoring is to have Trac forward.
Perfectly sums us up that our most dangerous route to goal wasn't used at any other point than when we were desperate

It gets even better.
I'm listening to Gawn in MMM and he said Langdon moved to Green late to tag him. Now I'm re watching the last 2 minutes and Langdon isn't even watching the ball up he's watching Toby and still ****s it up and Toby gets the clearance

So our game winning move wasn't anything to do with us, it was tagging them 😂😂😂

so Langdons tagging Green so he doesn't get the ball, and so Gawn hits the ball to him. interesting move

What? I can't get my head around this. There's only time for one more score we need to play an aggressive centre bounce setup if we lose the clearance the game is over and we decide to apply a tag now?

I'm gonna have to quote myself here..
It's really quite amazing that we talk about how much work we've done on close game scenarios and then you see it in action and it's just the dumbest shit imaginable.

Yep you can listen yourself on Gawns spot. He said the Langdon move late was as a pure tagger to stop Green ( the move might have happened before the final CB but we didn't adjust it) and then when you watch the final CB you can see Langdons sole focus is on stopping Toby.
As Fork n Hell said, Gawn then taps it straight down the throat of Toby
There is no way in hell we trained to have a tagger running at a CB when we needed to win.

Not only that but Trac was standing at CHF. Even if he gets the ball it's a miracle shot, why wouldn't he be 15m out from goal with everyone else spread out.

Genuinely looked like we had no actual plan to win

Yeah I'm baffled hearing that. As I mentioned in another post Trac is our most dangerous player out of a centre clearance He's the guy you want there. So piss off Langdon for him. Get one of Viney or Oliver out of there and put Windsor in. Then do a set play where you drag the Giants defenders away and leave a leading lane to Fritsch in the hotspot or something.

I saw our midfield group all meeting up after the keefe goal and I was thinking they must be getting a set play ready. Nope.

There's 100 things you could do especially with Gawns ruck dominance on the day. Set Trac forward of the stoppage, have Oliver way back behind to drag a player away and Windsor under Gawns feet. Slap the ball forward to Trac and handball to Windsor running past. Then yeah, set up someone deep coming at the ball while the other forwards are out of the way.

Instead we tag Toby, have Oliver closest to Gawn under his own heavy tag and Viney front of stoppage for whatever reason

Hard to believe that once upon a time under Goody we were the most attacking side in the AFL. Bring back my boy Craig Jennings. Is he still working with the Giants? If so it makes sense given the way they try and play.

As much as I love blaming goody he can't see how they'll set up the final bounce and get a msg out. Between Gawn, Oliver, Viney and Langdon they need to have a plan but then figure out something better
Yes on-field leaders need to stand up to call the play there but it also depends what they've been given to work with. Down by a goal with 30 seconds to go seems like a game scenario where you'd want the players to have a few cards up their sleeves.

Is it a coincidence that we performed poorly after Goody came down from the coaches box and started micromanaging players from the bench? I think not.
Yeah, hes a ****ing busy body doing that shit. Choco should have told him to **** off. Sign of a coach under pressure wanting to be everywhere.
