The curious case of Buddy Franklin

He's had flu symptoms for the last 24 hours, been assessed by the doctor and ruled out.

There is information, muppets just ignore it when it doesn't suit them.

And if that had happened on its own, all well and good. No-one would care. But when it's happened on the back of him missing five weeks with a slight hamstring strain (that shouldn't take more than three weeks to recover from and apparently he had no setbacks), it's fair enough for people (particularly Hawthorn supporters) to suspect that something is up. 'Flu symptoms' is one step up from 'general soreness'.

Wasn't buddy meant to be a 'quick healer' like when he hurt his knee in the finals last year but still played the next week? Now it takes him 6 weeks to get over a hamstring strain? Having a week or two off is a 'rest', missing the best part of two months on the verge of finals is something else. You can't blame people for being suspicious that one way or another we're not getting the full story.

Yeah so true. I've suffered migraines for 10 years and I even get disoriented when I have them. Let me guess - disorientation is a side effect of meth?
Common Immediate Effects
  • Euphoria
  • Increased energy and alertness
  • Diarrhea and nausea
  • Excessive sweating
  • Migraines and disorientation
  • Loss of appetite, insomnia, tremors, jaw-clenching
  • Agitation, irritability, talkativeness, panic, compulsive fascination with repetitive tasks, violence, confusion
  • Increased libido
  • Increased blood pressure, body temperature, heart rate, blood sugar levels, bronchodilation
  • Constriction of the walls of the arterties

Perkins won olympic gold from lane 8 whilst having the flu.

Given the importance of next weeks game would have thought they would play Buddy for atleast 1/4 or 1/2 to get some match fitness against "respectfully" lesser quality opponents to get him better prepared for next week. So either way, sickness or massive cover-up, can't see Buddy playing next week.

So you believe hawthorn when they say it was a slight hamstring injury but now think it's a drug cover up? Laughable. If anything they might have downplayed the severity of his injury. Wouldn't be the first club to do that. The conspiracy theories are beyond stupidity.

I'm not buying into the rumour but it is interesting that a few media types are subtly alluding to there being something more.

Not surprising given the litigious nature of Hawthorn when it comes to disclosure.

Drug related or not, if I were a Hawthorn fan I'd be a little worried he hasn't played in 5/6weeks only 2 matches from the finals

Pity he didn't play today as Buddy really likes this joint, lots of space on the wing where he can utilise his speed. the crystal like grass is soft enough not to hurt when you come down from being high. The sharp angles in the pockets don't really bother him at all, in fact it seems to inject life into him when he can show his party tricks. However, there season could go up in smoke now.
Like your witty way with words Rayven, very impressed. Hopefully however, nothing to rumour as Buddy is an absolute champion of the game. AFL would be absolutely slaughtered if it emerged they were covering up something like that.

Brilliant coaching move by Nathan Buckley to entrust Sharrod Wellingham with the job on Buddy. Just doing the little things like hiding Buddy's favourite outfit, putting 'off' milk in his morning coffee and preparing very spicy Indian meals have obviously had an affect on Buddy's well being. And to think people wanted Collingwood to stick with Mick.

I haven't said anything about drugs at all. Before you go attributing other people's posts to me, maybe you should get off your high horse.

I think having five weeks off with a minor hamstring strain, when he's been running for several weeks, is a bit strange. And I think having another week off immediately after with 'flu symptoms' adds to the speculation.

Pre-game Dunstall admitted the Hawks lied last week about the reason for him not playing. Hawks said hammy still not quite right. Dunstall admitted car crash after effects. If there was nothing untoward going on, they could have told the truth last week. As they say, honesty is usually the best policy.

Lol at the uneducated plebs getting off over this. He's not feeling well so he isn't playing. He will be back next week you halfwit gossip mungers. You are leeches. A disease on society.

...with each passing week it becomes more suspect...There is definitely something going on, but I don't know what.
