I find it interesting that in a football environment, senior club officials will support a key figure in the scandal.
If it happened in any commercial enterprise of size, there is no way he would be still employed.
Business just does not accept being put in positions like has happened at Essendon.

Whoever wrote the Essendon press release is either deliberately dense or doesn't realise that the ASADA infraction notices to the players will follow soon enough.

Seems like they are taking the same tack of ignorance that Dank took with the drug authorities.

They're unbelievably dense over in Bomber land.
Seems that most are taking a stance that tonight's news is somehow good.
Funny how they've been standing by Hird like he's the messiah, and now throwing him to the wolves.

Does anyone else get the impression from their posts that they don't care if the players were given PED or banned drugs, as long as there isn't enough proof, than so what? It's mind-blowing.

The AFL are going to absolutely whack them with a big stick.

All the coaches listed will get banned.

Draft picks and big fines to come for the club.

Not charging and banning the players (in the short term if no more information comes to light) will be the carrot.

They are not going to get out of this lightly.....

I'm not sure that the AFL can do anything to anyone not on the payroll somewhere?

So, they are now free to apply for jobs at any AFL Club then? Not that they are overly employable, but you get my point.

This is the reason the governing body should NOT be laying the charges, ASADA and/or WADA should be.

And probably why Dank is doing his best to avoid speaking with ASADA.

AFL will charge the bare minimum (bringing game in to disrepute), impose fines, point loss & draft pick poss etc ASADA will be the holders of the big stick (ie any suspensions).

This quote from Jab Watson:

"As professional sportsmen, we would never do anything to compromise the integrity of the game, our team, or our own values," Watson said."

So professional sportsmen have never & would never take drugs & compromise theirs or the integrity of the game? Have you ever seen athletics, swimming, cycling, soccer, baseball or track & field sports? Ever heard of weightlifting?

OK, so you didn't actually get the injections that you admitted receiving on Swan the Couch?

WADA are watching.

For all that the AFL would like to push under the carpet, the world governing body will be quite prepared to step in and do the whacking.

"The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has issued a statement clarifying the status of an anti-obesity drug not currently authorised that has hit the headlines in recent weeks due to its use by athletes – and the message is that the drug, AOD-9604, is definitely banned. Its statement follows news of positive tests by several cyclists in recent weeks for another drug obtained from the black market, GW501516, which is the subject of a WADA health warning"

Nuff said .. ;) .. WADA can override any local decision

Yep, tonight's news is the just first of many things the Bombers are going to get whacked with. The OH&S and ACC stuff is probably going to be the worst of it and I don't think those agencies are in any hurry to show their hand.
