Someone suggested trading Gaff to Gold Coast for Sharp.

I asked why Gaff would be interested in being traded to Gold Coast.

That’s devolved into a debate about whether we should be asking or telling contracted players to look elsewhere, and the circumstances when that might be acceptable.

You also said it would be hypocritical of the club to have that discussion with Gaff after the clubs statements on Rioli.

THAT is where the debate started. And you have been back pedalling and diving for cover ever since.

Having a mature and respectful discussion wth players 30 and over is not an issue. It is how professional clubs should behave. To find win win solutions to changing circumstances.

It’s difficult to say he’s way overrated, he’s a young rising star winner who is a tall and generally talls play there best footy in there late 20s to early 30s. He has been below expectations this year considering how good he was at the end of last year.

I’d agree it would be overs and too much of a gamble to pay anything near what we paid for Tim Kelly and I doubt the club ever will again.

However if we gave up a first rounder and not much else for him and he was committed I’d have no problem with that. He’s got his best 10 years of footy in front of him and worth the gamble as he could possibly become very good.

Melbourne asking for two top 10 picks is way overs and yes I agree it could seriously set a rebuild back if paying that much and he doesn’t improve as a player.

He is not worth 900 k per season. I don't think Melbourne will accept a fair trade the market is skewed to paying overs imo.
