Monkey too clever for that trick.
I always thought we should let it prowl around the back of the opposition cheer squad area. Or in it.
Not sure if you meant/noticed it, but that's exactly where that is, behind the eastern goals, where the opposition cheer squads sit. Even if there's no Lion, I'm glad we're finally making the bastards sit on the cold concrete.:thumbsu::D

That would be GA. Wouldn't happen.

Who said that "The Veranda" is GA? To me that sounds like a new corporate area and something unlikely to be behind the goals.

New area??

The replay screen between sections 75 and 76 was replaced with a modern and larger screen. But there is less built up structures around it which means that there is a new 'standing' area below the screen. This wasn't possible with the old screen and so is an addition for this season. The test had a new corporate area here and I can imagine this being turned into a veranda.

Except that the photo clearly shows ground level at the eastern end, behind the goals, or at least the behind post, but looks to extend into the centre of goals.

I mean, the clue is pretty clear;
Give me a home amongst the Gabba,
Where friends can gather,
A Lion or few - Maroon, gold & blue,
Change rooms out the back,
"Something" out the front,...

Give me a home among the gumtrees
With lots of plum trees
A sheep or two, a k-kangaroo
A clothesline out the back
Verandah out the front
And an old rocking chair

Thoughts on the crowd for this weekend? Last two seasons we’ve also had our first home game in round 2, drawing 18k vs North in 16’ on a Saturday arvo and 22k vs Essendon in 17’ on a Saturday Night. Good time slot for this match, I imagine the target would be 20k.

Was that a bit of a 'rent-a-crowd' at the verandah? All looked like 20's and dressed for a night out on the town more than a night at the footy.

The Block party thing was fine but the food was taking way too long and the vendors didn't have much thought for people needing to get to the game. 45+ minutes wait for our orders. I quite liked the guys singing.

So what did they do?

Catered with horses doovers and cocktails. Drinks waiters and a private bar.
$30 (+ $6 booking charge) upgrade for members only (so on top of your membership).

The socialist in me finds it pretty distasteful.
General admission looked full tonight, and they have wiped out 2 whole sections of GA for this wank fest.
Now, I have no problem with having nice areas for the 'nice people' to la de da, it's good for revenue, but to knock out good GA seats, just doesn't seem fair. Behind the goals at every other ground is for cheer squads, but we've essentially told all our visitors to piss of over to the side a bit.

Apparently this is where the pool goes for the cricket, so I have a theory. When they ripped the pool out, maybe they found that they had misplaced the seats, so stuck down some fake lawn and patio chairs instead. The area would now hold about a third of spectators that would normally fit there.
Wanky.

Edit: Wanky, and not the least bit footbally. By a VIP suite or corp box, ya bums.

Agreed; its a game of footy FFS.

If the club is having to resort to this type of BS to get (some) people to a game, chances are, they'll never be rusted on supporters. It looks terrible on TV and insulting to every other visiting teams cheer squads / fans that they can't sit behind the goals.

I'm with Skoob, move this tripe to where it can't be seen or better yet, get rid of it entirely. Amazing that the club signed off on such garbage.
