After being given the fright of their lives against Carlton in the 1st quarter I'd expect that to be a real focus for Fagan this week.

We need to be every bit as ready for manic pressure as they should from the opening bounce and I'll be happy if we can take their best shot, absorb it and break even at 1/4 time.

In trying to make sure they don't replicate their start against Carlton I'm hoping they might use up more petrol tickets than they'd like in quarter one for no genuine scoreboard advantage.

Us bringing the better pressure across the entire 4 quarters is as much a key as anything to winning the Premiership.

I’m programmed to us losing grand finals. In my life I’ve witnessed 8 losses out of 10. I never go in too excited it’s just my life as a pies supporter. We never seem to go in as the dominant team with stars on every line who other teams are worried about. We are always that good team who fight and battle to the last man. Even with us finishing on top I can totally see why the lions are the ones most people are picking. I look at our forwards and I’m like, they’re ok nothing dominant there.

For us to win we need a low scoring game, we can’t go goal for goal with the lions. Our backs need to play the game of their lives which is the one area which I do think we’ll be dominant in. They are much better than the lions backs.

Cox needs to have a huge impact like he does every now and then, he needs one of those games.

Jamie needs to kick straight, he’s been so hot and cold this season it’s been ridiculous.

We need Brownlow form from Mitchell and Nick to just take the pi55 out of the opposition and go nuts.

So there is a chance, I’m hoping the fly era can wipe away the negativity of grand finals past but it’s hard when we’ve been burnt so often.
I’m hoping that like the last 2 we’ve won that it’s a cake walk because the close ones haven’t been kind.

I've seen us win 2 from 15 attempts, so the trepidation we feel is valid. I agree with your summary of the two teams. They are more talented and we have to make it a war and get in their heads.

Whether we go tall or short our tactics and ability to execute those tactics entering the forward 50 -> inside forward 50 conversion could well be the key. Unlike Brisbane we are not likely to get bags from our "talls" so no doubt we would like to create angles/rush the chaos ball in and , on the occasions we do go in high , land it on Coxy's head rather than Andrews etc.....

If we can get that side of our game right I'm confident we have the back/midfield talent and heart/intensity to overwhelm Brisbane.

I keep having an odd thought - what if WHE is the surprise packet of the GF? He’s been in cracking form. Nick Maxwell (read it somewhere) recommends he should fill the McStay hole.

I don’t think much of Frampton as a forward, but would our forward line be too short without him?

No Frampton means JFN is in.

I keep having another thought that JFN is more ‘deserving’ - but that’s a fan thinking. GFs are ruthless, and not about rewarding guys for being fan favourites (unless…Ginni).

Reminder, in 2010 that the Pies won the replay by 56 points against a team with a forward line of Riewoldt, Koshitchzke and Milne. Cloke and Dawes were our only talls. We had Sidey, Beams and Ball at HF and FF

Thats why the media has no clue. We know the flexibility that Fly has built into this team. I trust whoever he brings in will play the team role.

We are a defensive beast all over the field. That wins finals.

We have prepared for this day for a season and ramped up the last two months altering positions and roles. Everyone is ready but only Pies supporters seem to know this.

As I mentioned in the other thread, the logical choices are Maxwell, Moore and Daicos and all would be logical/good for different reasons.

I feel like the best overall choice would be Moore handing the Cup to his son
