Second quarter, along with so many missed opportunities in front of goal cost us in the end. Not overly shattered, more disappointed that we basically gave them the game by missing some very easy shots on goal. Plenty of players wont be happy with how they played and that second quarter will haunt us for some time.

Just unlucky in the end, I mean if Buddy had a bit more luck with the wind or what not you's would have had your noses in front at the end. Bad luck, but you will be back up there next year.

Inaccurate kicking cost us the game. Lack of desire in the second cost us the game. Sydney's ferocity cost us the game.

Do we look back on 2012 with pride or with shame? We worked so hard against an extremely tough draw but I can't swallow the fact that all our hardwork was undone in the last 10 minutes because a player slips over in the goal square and no one mans the goal square at the stoppage. Personally I can't decide.

Posted this in the other thread. But will post it here also.

Absolutely shattered. Completely threw the game away in the second, with some of the worst football we have played in a very long time.

Then to top that off, completely wasted so many shots in front of goal. That was my biggest concern going into the game, and thats what happened. 24.44 in the last two weeks.

I hope that Grand Final burns these guys for the rest of their carriers, so we NEVER let it happen again. Hopefully they use that to drive them next year and beyond.

Such a wasted opportunity.

Credit to Sydney who were awesome. You can't expect to win the GF if you don't take your chances & don't play a full game. Shattered as end of the day 2012 will be remembered as the one we let get away

The player I really feel sorry for is Sewell - he threw everything he'd got at that game, and I think he'd have been considered for the Norm had we got over the line. Similarly, our young lads did some brilliant work...Breust, Smith, Schoenmakers, Shiels, Gunston...they all had good games, and I feel saddened for them as unlike our experienced players, they haven't got a premiership medal and this was their chance.

We chucked it up in Q2. As much as people want to whinge about moments (like Young not managing to put the ball as a behind when defending) it wasn't any single moment that did us - it was 40+ minutes of not kicking a goal whilst conceding 8 on the run. We fought back admirably in Q3, but had we kept it level in Q2, we'd have broken away in Q3 with our burst and the match would've been very different.

Overall, it just feels like a waste of a fantastic season. When we played well, we played well but it's weird...I'm unimpressed more than devastated because it doesn't feel like it was stolen from our grasp; it feels like we didn't want it enough. Just silly.

For me the last ten minutes was very telling. Sydney's defense won it for them and our precision kicking game was nowhere to be seen because there simply wasn't space to execute it.

Most of our forward entries were bombing it long to a contest, gee what a shame we're the worst contested marking side in the comp hey?

Our bottom 6 players were rubbish on the day (I won't name names) and many of our "stars" failed to deliver. Too much left to too few, same old story.

Finally, we were beaten by a side that was mentally tougher and more desperate. Probably better coached, too.

Another year down the toilet. The best word I can think to describe today's effort and the year as a whole: Wasteful.

Completely disagree. You had your chances, played well in bursts, were beaten fair and square. You'll still be thereabouts next season but. Commiserations, Sewell is a freak.
