I never saw him play, just can not recall him. He did a patellar tendon early on, and that stalled his career.

After Cameron Ling's first few games I thought he was a spud. Lonergan had a period of panicking with the ball and looked to me like he would be a liability. Very happy to be proved wrong with both of these.

For players who didn't make it I had high hopes for Adam Varcoe.

Both did. Lord was superb and shouldn't have been dropped later in the finals.

I feel this thread will be better for the older posters. Mentioning some players I've never heard of.

I'd say the worst (and pre-dates being here) would be after the loss to WCE in 2006, having lost to Richmond the week before and flogged by the Pies the week before that (went to all 3 games), I was demanding Bomber be sacked and players like SJ and Kelly be traded. Couldn't have been more wrong.

Hmac was our missing piece to snag another flag.

Tenace would play 200 games.

Was a beast. All muscle and bustle but from what I recall could not read the game at all, and did little. And I guess injury will do that.

I doubt there were too many of us confident though after losing the Prelim so poorly, losing GAJ, losing Bomber etc.

Not that I don't rate Martin, but PD has his measure.

I was wrong on mccarthy who i thought would not develop composure in front of goal.

I was half wrong on the christensen trade.i still think brisbane stiffed us on the trade but stanley will make it a much better outcome for us than i thought it would be.

That doesn't mean he's not good or great. Cyril is a very good player but is still monumentally overrated and overhyped.

I was definitely peeved when we offloaded Moloney, while he was on holidays, for Ottens.
Clearly, we won there, but I did not like it early on.
