If the AFL had any balls they’d make Geelong play all their home games at MCG or Marvel.
They tried and got rebuffed. Nine Melbourne teams playing out of two grounds, one a cricket and the other a multi-purpose carpark - a true amalgamation with just colours on a guernsey and a theme song to differentiate between the mass. A sad and soulless sight.

What s**t? Your mob is selling home games to Ballarat like a shameless minnow.

Humour me this, where should a Geelong vs Footscray match be played at? You guys don't even have a home - playing out of that carpark at Docklands these days aren't you?
It should be played at the cattery until the WO is ready. Still over your shit

Pies shouldn’t have to play at pissy little suburban grounds, if other venues are available. If the AFL had any balls they’d make Geelong play all their home games at MCG or Marvel. GMHBA is a s..thole.

Lol okay. Collingwood get such a leg up over most teams it’s remarkable they’ve only won 2 flags since 2000.

yeah we get such a leg up over Geelong
All four of our flags this century have been as a result of using Collingwood as a stepping stone at the MCG come finals time, so no need to upset that beneficial arrangement.

the team that travels the least out of all teams for the last 24 years have not been able to travel an hour and a half down the road. doesnt sound like much of a leg up playing your opponents at your home ground 24 years straight.
we dont get invited, probably want to preserve the 90 win percent there. I personally would love to see the pies overcome the challenging drive down there, that level of adversity would hold us in good stead

cool
tbh its not collingwood or geelongs fault this happens, it happens all over the fixture this one just stands out because of how long it has lasted. the kunts at AFL house need to stop being so ****ing greedy and make a fixture based as close to fairness as possible instead of chasing the dollars.

Even with the new stand it doesn't have enough seats for its own members let alone the opposition team, its really only suitable for interstate clubs and clubs with tiny supporter bases.
Bigger than the Gabba. Better get in early for Round 12.

I give a s**t because I like to go to the game
2017 we had a smaller capacity than what we're about to have and Richmond supporters refused to travel, ended up having to resell them to Geelong fans. If you're looking to head over you'll find a ticket no problem.

GEELONG CEO Brian Cook has revealed 3000 seats allocated to Richmond supporters for the blockbuster Round 21 clash at Simonds Stadium remain unsold.

It comes after journalist Caroline Wilson used her weekly television appearance to slam the AFL for scheduling the match at the Cats’ home ground.

Wilson labelled the decision, which was made in late October last year, as “clownish”, adding up to 40,000 fans will be denied the chance to see the game.

“There are about 3000 seats available for Richmond supporters who aren’t taking them up at the moment, so they’re not willing to travel.

I'm not so sure about that we couldn't get tickets so maybe its a ticketing problem

Probably 3000 single seats scattered throughout the stadium
Nope, 36k~ is the limit for AFL games these days at the Gabba. Kardinia Park is supposed to be hitting 40k next season.
