Also, it seems McDaniels is being a cry-baby too because he's stomping his foot wanting Cassel only. Like that's the only QB he can work with. If he's a true coach then he would be able to work with anyone and bring them up like he did with Cassel.

Exactly, it's a sign of a good coach if he can take an average QB and make them into a solid no.1 QB. It's not like Cutler is any worse than Cassel , he's much more proven than Cassel is.

Yeah, imo he's just trying to get the spotlight as a coaching genius, which he wouldnt get with Cutler. There's absolutely no reason a coach cant work with an existing proven franchise QB. It happens 99% of the time around the NFL, a new coach at a team where they have an established QB.

Obviously there are situations where what McDaniels is thinking applies, but those are unestablished QBs. Like Martz wanting to work with O'Sullivan cos he worked with him before, but in a team where there are no established QBs. Then new OC for Niners prefers to work with Hill because he's worked with him before, or is comfortable with him, but again in a team with no established proven QBs. Mangini could be given the same leeway too because he inherits two unproven QBs he hasnt worked with or drafted. But McDaniels treating Cutler in the same way is really stupid.

Good article showing up McDaniels to blame...

Josh McDaniels met with his players on Monday morning for the first time as a group. And with the ruckus, the rumble already created between McDaniels and quarterback Jay Cutler, there is no way that some of those players did not leave that meeting wondering if McDaniels said what they think he said and if he meant what he said.

Cutler -- who skipped the involuntary pow-wow -- already has his answer.

Cutler's version of the events that preceded his request for a trade and that has put the entire Denver Broncos organization in upheaval is that McDaniels is shady and a fraud. Cutler says that McDaniels, who replaced Mike Shannahan as Broncos head coach on Jan. 12, soon afterward told Cutler that he looked forward to working with him, then worked for a trade that would ship Cutler out and bring Matt Cassel in, then denied it, then said he did entertain talks but did not instigate them, then said Cutler would not be traded.

McDaniels was quoted in the Denver Post on Monday as saying: "Obviously, the trade went through with another team. We moved on. I'm not sure if that's where all the discontent stems from or not. I'm sure most of it does."

Huh?

Surely the Broncos have to get rid of him now. This is turning into a farcical situation. Not really the way a coach would want to start his tenure at a new team.

KC should offer Cassel for Cutler and Denver's first two picks and see how serious McDaniel is.

Cutler for Cassel straight swap would be the only deal that could be done you would think. Otherwise, there would be too much egg on a few people's faces you would think.

Would Cutler want to play at KC???

Here's the latest trade rumor....

Profootballtalk.com is "hearing" that the Redskins have interest in Jay Cutler.
An internet rumor circulated Tuesday that a three-team deal sending Brady Quinn to Denver, Chris Cooley and Jason Campbell to Cleveland, and Cutler and Tony Scheffler to D.C. would be announced at 5PM, but it never was. PFT indicates that the Skins do have interest in Cutler, though. Perhaps Dan Snyder and Pat Bowlen will talk at the March 22-25 Owners' Meetings.

Here's some choice words about that imo...

Scott Pioli
Dwayne Bowe
Todd Haley (ie, Pass Happy offense)

That or Detroit second (calvin Johnson) would be very appealing to him imo.

Hence why I said get the first two draft picks as well. We can still add the line presence we need on D and have a chance at Mr Crabtree.

Stick the straight swap where the sun doesn't shine (and I don't mean Buffalo!). KC need to load up so if a trade like that was going to facilitate the loading then why not I say.

They would be stupid to do that trade.

Cutler > Cassell for mine.

There's about as much chance of Cutler going to KC, as there is me rooting Silvia Saint. I still maintain that a Cleveland/Quinn/picks deal is the front runner. Pat Kirwan did an article on nfl.com about what Cutler would be worth.....

OK so theoretically, lets say this happens.

How do these new QBs go in their new systems, WRs, OLs, Coordinators etc?

Quinn in Denver
Campbell in Cleveland - is he even the starter or is Derek back?
Cutler in Washington

The Bronc's are gonna lose Scheffler and Cutler anyway lol. That's the whole point. At least they get something in return, which is what McDaniels wants, not picks another QB. Anyway, i wouldnt say just because Washington "denied" the rumor means anything. They denied interest in Haynesworth or a deal with him was happening.

Best thing imo is if Pioli rapes McDaniels. Cutler and a pick, for Cassel, seeing as McDaniels has such a boner for him and wanted him originally. It seemingly matters more to McDaniels to want Cassel because he coached him and would easily transition into running the same offense he ran in New England. While Pioli was just the GM, and there are other coaches under him. Haley could well be excited to have Cutler instead in his pass-happy offense.

Pioli would be as much a idiot as McDaniels has been if he offers that.
Sure it would be a good deal if McDaniels accepts it but what if he doesnt. Pioli would be in just a bad situation as McDaniels. Maybe Cassel won't cry has much about it, but putting a Franchise QB on a trading bloke is a no-no unless you deal him. If that happened and I was Cassel, I would be pissed to just get traded to a team and then put on the trading bloke.

Here's the latest...

On Monday, Denver Broncos team spokesman Jim Saccomano confirmed to the Associated Press a report from earlier in the day by ESPN's Chris Mortensen: "The Denver Broncos confirm that Jay Cutler has requested a trade." Whether or not Cutler will fish his wish, it's given sports media members in various cities a juicy topic about which to speculate, especially if they happen to cover one of the league's quarterback-needy teams.

Unlike their stance on Terrell Owens and Torry Holt, the New York Jets have not completely ruled out a trade for Cutler, according to the New York Daily News' Rich Cimini, but it doesn't seem like they'll be legitimate players in the trade market for the quarterback either. The Broncos may be looking for another established quarterback in return, but the Jets have three options who are all borderline starters, none of whom would probably excite the Broncos as trade bait. The other conundrum that is perhaps unique to the New York market is the media itself: would Cutler, who is being roasted in papers across the country for his very public spat with Broncos management, be able to handle being razzed with a clever yet demeaning headline on the back page of the newspaper every Monday? He was given a taste of this treatment already by the New York Post, as Mark Cannizzaro referred to him as "whiny" right in the headline. Instead of making a big splash with a trade for Cutler, it's believed that the Jets will continue to build their roster through the draft this offseason.
If the Broncos do want a quarterback in return, the Cleveland Browns could be a one-stop shop for all of their needs. As the old NFL personnel adage goes, "if you think you've got two starting quarterbacks, you've really got zero," and the Browns still think they've got two starting quarterbacks on the roster. A rumor at the beginning of the month held that the Browns were going to trade quarterback Brady Quinn and defensive tackle Shaun Rogers to the Broncos for Cutler, and a similar rumor is gaining steam currently. The thinking goes that Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels apprenticed for Charlie Weis, learning the elder's offense while both were in the employ of the New England Patriots. Weis then brought this offense to Notre Dame, where he coached Quinn, and therefore Quinn would probably click with McDaniels as he installs this system in Denver. In addition, the disgruntled Rogers, who has been miffed at Browns coach Eric Mangini for the latter's non-acknowledging of the 350-pounder in the team's weight room, would become a stalwart nose tackle in the Broncos' new 3-4 defensive scheme. For the Browns, however, the price might not be right. As Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer noted when the rumors were first swirling, Cutler is somewhat of a rich man's Derek Anderson, and wouldn't be a great upgrade to a team that still lacks playmakers at wide receiver and running back.
A team that might be just a quarterback away from being a legitimate contender, given their situation at wide receiver and running back, is the Buffalo Bills. On his weekly appearance on the Brad Riter show on WECK, former Bills guard Ruben Brown relayed the story that Cutler's agent, Bus Cook, was in Buffalo on Monday. This spurred some discussion as to whether one or both of Cook's Broncos clients, Cutler or tight end Tony Scheffler, might be headed to the Bills. The Bills could offer the Broncos Trent Edwards in return, and Edwards might be able to shine in a different offensive system. The problem is whether or not the Bills can offer up enough to satisfy the Broncos in addition to Edwards. Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters is reportedly on the trading block, but the Broncos have a younger, cheaper, and perhaps equally-talented option in Ryan Clady. Clady allowed just a half of a sack in his rookie campaign in 2008, and finished third in the AP's Offensive Rookie of the Year voting. The other issue with Cutler heading to Buffalo could be their other offseason acquisition, Owens. Owens has had a reputation of friction with quarterbacks during each of his NFL stops, and if the current strife in Denver is any indication, Cutler does not do well with even a little friction.
This brings us to the Chicago Bears and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who possess the 18th and 19th picks in April's NFL draft, respectively. While both teams could turn that pick and possibly another player into Jay Cutler, the Bucs' scenario is quite more likely than the Bears'. Tampa Bay did promise Luke McCown a chance to compete for the starting quarterback job when they re-signed him, but Cutler is a significant upgrade. The Tampa Tribune's Roy Cummings has posited an intriguing new three-way deal, where the Bucs send pick No. 19 to the Kansas City Chiefs for Matt Cassel - who the Chiefs acquired for a second-round pick - who is then shipped off to Denver for Cutler. While Chiefs GM Scott Pioli might be stingy in letting go of his prized offseason acquisition, he would certainly be tempted to have two of the draft's top 20 picks. At that point, the trade is a no-brainer for the Broncos, as it is assumed that McDaniels is pining for Cassel pretty hard. The Bears also have some pieces to offer the Broncos for Cutler, and as the Chicago Tribune's David Haugh notes, it would be a return close to Cutler's Indiana roots, playing for the team he idolized growing up. Unfortunately, it is a common belief that Bears general manager Jerry Angelo will not pull the trigger on such a deal, and is resigned to moving forward with Kyle Orton as the team's starting quarterback in 2009. All of this considered, Jay Cutler is still under contract with the Broncos and would risk looking even worse if he were to refuse to play this upcoming season. The Broncos may simply choose to play hardball and force Cutler to return, or there is the slim outside chance that the rift between McDaniels and his quarterback is somehow mended before much longer.

The latest as of Thursday morning...

According to SI's Peter King, the Broncos are "hanging on to Jay Cutler and won't entertain discussion for him at this time."
The Broncos' current stance is to try to meet with Cutler sans agent Bus Cook, hoping the situation can be remedied. King believes the relationship is now beyond repair and that Cutler will be traded, with Denver's stance likely to change before the NFL Draft. King nominates the Bucs and the Jets as the "most fervent suitors."

Imo, the Broncos are not doing themselves any favors by protracting the inevitable. Come draft day, Cutler will only keep growing further apart from them, the conviction to want out will get hotter, and they'll know they'll HAVE TO trade him at any cost in order to get a QB in there asap to start getting into camp and instaling the playbook. So teams who want him will start offering less and less on the actual night as the Broncos get desperate. Whereas now they could score a few picks and a QB etc.

Soap Opera indeed. :D

If the Broncos want to avoid a wasted campaign, best to seek a quality back up QB and go D players on the first 3 rounds. Cutler will need to realise he ain't holding any team to ransom regardless how good he thinks he is.
