Also thumbs down to new boxes. No nice way to open them. I liked the tape with black bits.

Yeah I guess that's for security reasons (much harder, if not impossible, to open the boxes, remove/replace parts and send back for a refund - yeah it happens sadly :().

I've had success with these opening with a penknife, initially on the opposite side to where the finger tabs are. If you can find an unglued section you can slide the knife along both ways until you get to the corners.

What really irks me these days is that the cardboard containers they use for larger instruction books used to be closed with tape tabs, thus easy to open and reclose. Now they glue them down and they are basically impossible to open without damage. Not only that, but when you finally do, the stuck down bits are still sticky and you risk tearing the book as you get it out. Weird design.

I bought the Fire Aircraft in the store sale, and Donkey Kong and Space Coaster from amazon. Haven't had a treat for a while :p

Have to dismantle some sets to make way for the new ones. I recently did this with Apocalypseburg, a vastly under-rated set from Lego Movie 2. It's a real hoot and the building techniques are awesome. It was even fun to take apart ;).

The glued down instruction book cardboard annoys me too

Stupid work is getting in the way of building this week.

Tomorrow is the weekend.

My hand will still be broken :'(

Did you get it? Did you get it???

When your hand heals sufficiently it'll be a real treat for you to look forward to.

Nah, decided against it. I'd decided ages ago that $400 would be my trigger point. And I still have Voltron, 2 technic cars, and a bunch of smaller sets waiting for when my hand is better; I also have a MOC PAB order still sitting in my basket waiting for double points, and when I have a spare few hours (and when I can use my right hand properly) I also want to try and price a MOC Ferrari in the style of the McLaren F1.

It'll get to $400, and I'll still have a pile of lego here waiting to be built when it does.

On the fence with this one, I think I'd need to see it built first. Not really an aeroplane person, but when the Orient Express hits the shelves that's a different story ;).

I'm an aviation enthusiast so I am the opposite - likely purchase for me but not the Orient Express.

Hopefully a great build, looks promising from the promo shots. And I edited the price, it's actually only $300, decent for a large set.

102cm long. No stickers apparently. And this GIF illustrates it nicely...

Day one purchase.

I guess they just used the Airbus livery to save additional licensing requirements, given they'd already have a relationship with Airbus. I think it would look better in a BA/AF livery.

BA and AF liveries are indeed iconic but perhaps wisely enough they wanted to avoid the licensing that may have jacked up the prices.

Maybe A380 in the future? Boeing may ask for too much for the 747. Lego planes for adults are quite rare (a lot of the 'cooler' planes are obviously off limits due to the military association) so I very much appreciate Lego doing this.
