With any planned big purchases you may want to wait until black Friday - there's usually a VIP weekend beforehand with double points and GWPs, and often some decent discounts on the BF weekend.I move house this week... after more than 2 lego-less months with my broken hand then the notice to vacate my apartment, I finally get to move and start figuring out how much space I have to display stuff.
There's a chance I'm going to celebrate my resumption by ignoring the big pile of lego in the corner and getting the Batcave Shadowbox. It's going to depend entirely on space in the new place.
For our last move I broke down most sets and packed them in separate ziplock bags in tubs and flattened all boxes. For larger sets I didn't want to dismantle I took them myself, one to a suitably sized storage box. We didn't move very far so this was workable.I'd love some quick responses from the brains trust if possible... I'm packing today, I'm moving tomorrow.
What's your experience with moving lego from house to house? What have you tried, what worked well?
The best I can come up with is storage tubs from the Reject Shop, use flattened lego boxes to "stack layers", and move them myself rather than getting the removalists to take them.
Am I missing an obvious better solution? I'm so dreading opening the storage tub with 8-12 sets of lego in it and finding loose parts in the bottom.
Tip for dismantling large sets if you think you (or someone else) will build them again - take them apart in reverse order, bagging the pieces as per the original instructions. Takes longer, but will make re-assembly so much easier and as a bonus, you can confirm when you take it apart that the set is complete.Yeah for the bigger sets, best option might be to put them in seperate storage tubs and just wear a few breaks. Or dismantle and have the joy of putting them back together lol
I said to my partner last night tongue in cheek, after i finish the batcave i might take it apart and do it again lol.
Haha, glad people have enjoyed them. Your right, I have barely seen any advertising. Has absolutely been a blast. These photos have been a better ad for this shadow box than anything I've seen from Lego.
Looks incredible.

"Enjoyed" them is a relative term, isn't it?
Not sure I'm going to enjoy dropping $600 on it to get my own

Funnily enough I said that to the darl last night lolSo close to the end, almost makes you want to undo it all and rebuild it again
I'll finish the batcave tonight for ya to give ya a smile.I think I’m going to have to be done with Lego. It’s just stupid and impractical when you rent. My last 2 days has been so awful, I just want to curl up and cry… but I don’t have time.
The good news is that the only thing that badly fell apart was that GWP flowerpot, which didn’t surprise me cos it’s about the worst quality Lego piece I own. Some bits and pieces fell of Starry Nights and the F1 Mclaren, but I think I gave those figured out.
