Did this take place towards the end of S24?
Haro: You're very much welcome.
I believe it was S23 - it was in November of 2017, or thereabouts. One of those latest Star Trek movies and just come out, and it was preliminary final or Grand Final week.
Cheese: It was S24 (apparently you were involved in another incident in S23)
Was it Star Trek or Star Wars?
Where did you post the Spoilers??
Haro: As it turns out, you are correct - it was S24. You're right, I would have been involved in quite a number of incidents in S23 - if you're alluding to my ban during Grand Final week (in S23), I had an altercation with someone on the main board. I was able to get the ban overturned so I could play in the Grand Final - I always get my way.
It was Star Wars, you're right. I always get these kids movies mixed up.
I saw the spoilers on Facebook. Someone had leaked my IP details, and was spreading it over the board. A number of posters were posting rumours that I was using an alt account. This irritated me, so, knowing that certain posters on the board take their Star Trek pretty seriously, I decided to get back at them, and posted a thread titled 'IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT', containing the spoilers.
Cheese: Is it true that the Spoiler got deleted so you posted it again?
Haro: Yes.
I posted the thread on my phone, and I think I refreshed after a minute and it wasn't there, so I assumed my phone glitched and it never posted. As it turns out, apparently a mod took it down right away. I believe that may have been The Filth Wizard
Cheese: Did you receive a 24 hour ban that should have kept you out of the GF due to Team Sheet Deadline?
Haro: It was initially a 24 hour ban, upgraded to a week, downgraded to nothing, and then upgraded to two weeks.
At that time, and I've no idea if this is still the case, but 24hr bans don't preclude someone being named in the team sheet, only week-long bans did.
When the time for team sheet came around, my ban had just been upgraded from 24hr to a week, but we had cause to believe it would be rendered null from the beginning, meaning it was within the rules to play me. We were able to get the admin, Hate , to take the unprecedented step of delaying team submission a day or so to wait for the outcome of the 'appeals process'.
Cheese: … so you won the Appeal?
Haro: We (and I use the term loosely, I had a lot of people helping me) were able to convince a mod higher up the chain to revert it to a 24hr ban. I was able to post for a few hours, and then I was banned for two weeks. Someone, even higher up the chain, had caught wind of it, and stumbled upon the spoilers by mistake. So I was banned for two weeks, and it wasn't changed after that.
Cheese: Let me get this straight …

You were then named in the Bombers Team & won a Premiership while serving a 2 week sentence in Banhammer

Haro: They delayed it, and I believe it passed while I was named and unbanned.
However, it was then, I think, extended again, I think to seek out clarifications around what was going on. It became clear I would be banned. The LG (against my will) decided to name me in the side any way, as a big * you. I'm told the admin at the time made some pretty serious threats to members of our LG warning them not to name me (despite it being within the rules (i.e., rules stipulate only a 3-4 goal penalty, nothing more)), and there were hard melts all around. In the end they didn't name me, but I still got a premiership medal.
Cheese: No wonder Hate doesn't want to discuss this incident

Why did so many Sweet FAers melt so hard?
Haro: You're missing a lot of context, like the various disrepute charges, pranking other captains into fake trades, refusing to trade a player who wanted out, BC conflicts, all of which caused world-record levels of seething league-wide. By that point, I'm sure there were serious discussions about banning me from the league. It seemed every week there was some sort of controversy involving the Bombers, invariably with me at the centre. We were legitimately tearing the league apart at the seams through conflict and drama. Posting movie spoilers was merely the cherry on top; this was followed by playing a perma banned player in the GF side, and my threads refusing to apologise and blaming mods for what happened.
If I recall correctly, about 3-4 posters announced they would retire (or threatened to) in light of the events of that week. Hate stepped down. I was perma-banned.

How did you get your permaban overturned?
Haro: Doesn't really surprise me, most people are sick of it. It was almost five years ago now. I was 14.
The passage of time and the generosity of the higher-ups to ever let me back. That took a lot of trust, but I've not had anything even approaching an infraction since. I was funny back then. I'm dull-witted now.
Cheese: 14?!?

Haro: I don't know who that is, but I was the original.
Cheese: You also mentioned that a few Players threatened to leave the Sweet FA over this incident
Did you feel bad about this at the time?
Haro: No, not at all. I actually wished that more people threatened to leave. It was funny. Why would you care if another poster plays in a Grand Final or not that much? Never understood the mentality of those people. I can understand why they were angry at me, but can’t see retirement as something I’d do in response to something like that.
Cheese: I think I know the answer … BUT I will ask anyway:
Is it time for a genuine apology to anyone in particular (or the Sweet FA in general)?
Haro: Yes, there were a few people I didn’t treat particularly well - especially the SFA mods. They treated me well and advocated for me and I never thanked them or apologised to them. I am thankful, and sorry.
As for everyone else, no, absolutely not.

No, it wasn't really. The big rivalry at that time was the Bombers and the East Side Hawks.

ND: Yeah, it was quite a while before I became a mod of any description. What did I say in Hates thread? Can barely remember what I posted last week let alone 5 years ago.

Harolad is the Buddy Franklin of this league... Protected species and gets away with everything.
He is like a spoiled child, if he doesn't get what he wants, he tantrums until he gets his own way. and he does this because he knows he will get his own way eventually.
I didn't see the Star Wars spoilers and I'm glad I didn't. Although it may not seem a huge deal to some and a week ban over a movie spoiler may seem OTT.. He still ruined something that people have been anticipating for years and a movie franchise many of us grew up with. He wasn't just discussing the movie and accidentally revealed something important either (in which he could have gotten away with) he did it on purpose just to spite someone with no consideration for anyone but himself.
Not to mention , he already got let off last season during a final, because he sooked.
What's next? Posts naked pictures of an SFA poster and gets let off for yet another final next season?
You were one of many Players who thought that HaroLad was a bit lucky
I am sure that a lot of what you said at the time was designed to add to the theatre of the Sweet FA
ND: Yeah, it was. That post would never fly now haha
Cheese: Were you surprised that a few Players threatened to quit the Sweet FA because of this?
ND: No, not really. As fun as it was at stages then, it did become a bit toxic. The league thrives on small doses of antagonism, the problem then was it got too antagonistic and people started to take it as personal rather than fantasy.
People weren't just pissed over spoilers either, it was more of a last straw kind of thing.
Cheese: It sounds like it was a challenging time to be an Admin
Was Hate judged unfairly?
ND: Very much so.
People were so wound up they lost sight of what the role of the admin is. They expected him to mod and blamed him for not putting a stupid to the toxic stuff. He wasn’t a mod, he was just the admin. The admin is there to ensure the league runs smoothly, anything outside of league related stuff was up to the board mods, not the admin.
I would love to see Hate try again

Do you think this was a turning point in Sweet FA history?
ND: Yeah, it certainly changed what banter people thought was acceptable and not acceptable. The league went pretty tame for a few seasons after that, almost too tame (which needed to happen).
