The Lions won't be a finals threat because...

Any team that has Umpire Nichols against the Lions will prevent us from winning a ****ing game!

I ain't too shocked a moron like FERRIS came in here with a post like that! All Collingwood supporters kick it in when it suits them the most, when we're down. Bloody precious supporters. Disappear when times are hard for them (Namely games when we flog them by 50 points in a Granny or 93 Points not too long ago), try sink the boot in when everything is fine and dandy.

****, I don't know if I'm good enough for the preview against Collingwood. Ask me in a week. **** it all! ****!

Hey guys!

So my fellow Collingwood supporters are probably going to disown me for putting my first ever post on your board (hope I'm not intruding, by the way!), but quite frankly I don't care at this point in time, as some of them are being downright embarassing! I really hope you don't think we're ALL like this - I actually think you guys played really well given the circumstances you were in...injuries, shoddy umpiring, etc. You shouldn't forget that Freo are one of the in-form teams this year, and you more than held your own against them, so don't be too hard on yourselves!

All the best for the rest of the season - I've always had a bit of a soft spot for you guys (yes, even after what you did to us in '02/'03), and that's largely because of a guy named Simon Black - I've been a huge fan of his for many years now and enjoy watching you guys play because of him. Also looking forward to your match against us...they're always great games (well, most of the time, anyway!) All teams have rough patches like you're having right now, but you will bounce back, and I'm kind of afraid for when you do! Good luck! :)

Good day to you Sam87!

Let it be said that my hatred of Collingwood supporters has been since diminished by discovering the shitness of Carlton supporters.... but every now and then, a certain shit should entice my angerness to Collingwood supporters once more!

Cheers for your comments mate! Looking forward to the game in a few weeks.... although with our injuries..... :|

We should have been flogged by ten goals based on the trend of the game and that trend was established well before injuries to Brennan and Drummond. Unfortunately, I think we have the worst midfield in the league, and have had for a few years. Instead of recruiting to improve our weaknesses, we traded like for like in the defence and forward lines!?? I'm not surprised that we are getting slaughtered through the middle. Rich, Redden and Polkinghorne have gone backwards this season thus far, and Black, whilst a champion, is not able to sustain defensive pressure and is a year older and Power is a year older. Riska is a good honest workman in the middle, but would be 6th or 7th string in a good midfield, rather than a key man. We lack workrate bigtime (for which there is no excuse) and second efforts/chasing pressure/tackling intensity have been at their worst levels I can remember in recent weeks. Is there an issue with conditioning staff? The boys have such little energy to do the old fashioned 1 percenters. Selwood should be in the side as he gives an honest 'at the football' contest, chases, tackles and has a good workrate - he is no champ, but provides important grunt in an otherwise soft midfield. Too many of our midfielders are cheating at the moment, waiting back and hoping for someone else to flick the ball out to them, all the while their opponents are getting in for the pill.

It's such a shame that over the last 5 years we haven't been able to cobble together a decent, hard working midfield capable of breaking even most weeks to take advantage of the great forwards we have been lucky enough to have had.

and yet they travelled from perth to play at your home ground and still got across the line.
.

Funnily enough, teams traveling and winning happens quite a bit in the AFL these days.

As a Collingwood supporter though, I guess you don't really have to worry about that sort of thing too much, eh?

I thought by 3/4 time we should've been 10 goals in front...*cue shit being kicked around the lounge room in my house*

We weren't, and you gave us a fright...kept coming...not all bad.

I think the observations on your mids are correct...Rich is too one way for mine...Black was great, and Power had an ordinary night....

Au contraire. Collingwood's record on the road is about as good as any team in the comp.

Credit where credit is due. Freo had a short week, and traveled the longest road trip in the AFL. I think we were lucky they were so inaccurate in front of goal to be honest, we could have been slaughtered.

no troll, just providing objective observations.
pathetic is your inability to distinguish between the 2.
you have no place here either based on your logic, do you also slow down when driving past car accidents to get a better look?
please go away. you have your own board to talk shite.

Where are our mods?...we wouldn't be able to go on to their board and talk in an antagonistic way like he is here..

Bugger off a-hole!!

...you are all being too polite to this bloke!!

As of Sunday 9th of May 2010

Collingwood = 1 Premiership in 52 years

Brisbane = 3 Premierships in 10 years

Brisbane V Colingwood in Grand Finals = Brisbane 2 Premierships / Collingwood 0

No amount of hot air from Collingwood supporters can change these statistics.

We travel 4 times a year, 4.2 is the Victorian club average. Would you like us to play against the other 9 Victorian clubs in Darwin?

Last year we won in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

In 2008 we won in Sydney, Adelaide (twice) and Perth

In 2007 we won in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth (twice) and Adelaide.

I'd say our recent travel record speaks for itself.

^^I thought the Collingwood board was down further.

Nobody on this board gives a fat rats clacker about Collingwoods record on the road.....SERIOUSLY:rolleyes:

The fixture is extremely uneven. Granted there are 10 clubs based in Victoria which makes it impossible to change. I wouldn't mind only leaving the Gabba 4 times a year.

I only responded due to the quite innaccurate statement(s) that Collingwood don't travel and don't travel well.

Given our record on the road, as compared to when we play at the Dome - I wish we travelled more.

Sure, but you realise that while we play 18 games in Melbourne every year, usually 16 of them are against Melbourne based clubs - so out of 22 games we get true home ground advantage in just 2 of them.

I'd love to play 11 games a year with a massive home advantage too, but the reality is that the draw can never be even until all clubs play each other twice and they are geographically spread equally. Which will never happen.

It all balances out in the end.

fail to see how this is true when you play 18 games in melbourne. if it all balances out in the end we'd play 18 games in queensland which we dont.

However our opponents all have to travel to get up to the Gabba, as do the opposition supporters. That's how it can balance out in the end.

Any Melbourne club is going to have less travel than the rest because of the 10 clubs in Victoria. They're also going to have split crowds in home games for the same reason.

This is true but does not factor in consecutive weeks travel. Fremantle had a rather short break this week and had to make the longest trip in football. As for Brisbane, we have to travel to Tasmania then Geelong in consecutive weeks later in the year, something Victorian teams seldom do. Whilst I acknowledge the large amount of Victorian based clubs makes it impossible to change, I still think that the fixture is the most uneven thing in the game atm.

You get 11 home games. these are games at a home ground, with a home crowd with a clear home advantage.

We get 10 home games + 3 away games at our home venue + 4 away games in our home city + 1 home game in our home city, not at our home ground. Of these 18 total games in Melbourne, 16 of them are at a neutral venue against a team that also resides in Melbourne and is likely a fellow tenant of the ground.

Thus leaving us with 2 games where we enjoy a clear home advantage. Sometimes this is 1, sometimes 3 - never 11.

This is one of a few offsets to make up for the fact that 2 clubs travel interstate 11 times a year and 4 others travel interstate 9 times a year. Freo and West Coast do the hardest travel miles, but also enjoy the biggest home ground advantage. This is why, in my view, it all balances out.

The biggest problem with the draw is not travel, but who you play twice, which has a much greater effect on the fairness of the competition than travel imo. Especially in the last 10 years where the bottom sides win less than they used to, and in the case of Richmond this year (and other teams in previous years) are just glorified witches hats.
