2 finals wins. Both against Geelong. That was probably because they felt bad about what they did to our club in 2007.

We're pathetic :'(

Finals we have lost in those 9 years
  • 2017: WCE in extra time 2 pts
  • 2020: Richmond 6 pts
  • 2021: Bulldogs 70 pts
  • 2023" Brisbane 54 pts & GWS 23 pts
Ken said tonight we will learn and move forward. With what intention? Lose harderer and longerer?

I’m devout port. I’ll pay. I’ll give. I’ll buy.

2024 is premiership or goodbye Ken, Koch and the board. That’s the agreement.

No it's not. They won't do any of that. And you'll keep forking over your money to be disappointed because you're a sucker. Stop giving these frauds money. It's enabling this regime.

In two weeks from now, there will be 12 of the other 17 teams that have played in a GF and 7 that have won the premiership during Hinkley's tenure at Port.

The incredible (and damning) thing for me is that in the case of 9 of those 12 teams, Port have finished higher on the ladder than them more often than not in the last 11 years.

I guess you could say that most teams are having their ups and downs but we have been consistently mediocre, especially when it comes to taking our oppurtunities, which we have failed to do every time.

No, no it isn't. That was supposed to be the agreement this year. We didn't even win a final but still we re-signed him for two more years.

I'd rather set $600 of cash on fire than spend it on a Port membership next year.

Technically last 6 if you include the 2007 Grand Final against Geelong. We lost by 119 after beating them in round 21 by 5 pts.

On 10 Sep 2005 we lost to the Crows by 83 pts who also beat us in the 13 Aug showdown by 7 pts.

Not wanting to pile on or anything...
We last beat Freo in a knockout in 2014, since then we've lost every knockout game. We've only won the non knockout QFs

not spending money on the club is literally the only power you have to express your dissatisfaction. you can't vote a board out. your voice is drowned out by happy clappers.
vote with your feet and wallet. tell them why you're not renewing, or not renewing yet. we couldnt fill a semi final stadium, there will be seats there when this rabble are gone.

Amazing comment, obviously a flak deflector. We did not learn anything from five failed finals campaigns over a decade between 2013 and 2022 so how can Ken expect any of us to believe that we will learn anything from 2023?

I can hear it now- 'the experts have predicted blackouts over the coming summer but Port supporters experienced yet another power failure in September.' I anticipate comments like that being all over the media in the coming days. We need to be prepared.

So as far as I can gather, this is the first time in the AFL era that a team has had a 13 match winning streak that didn’t either have a GF win in the streak or finished the season with a GF appearance.

Port Adelaide 2023, 13 wins, straight sets exit
Geelong 2022, 16 wins, Premiership
Collingwood 2011, 14 wins, Grand Final
St Kilda 2009, 19 wins, Grand Final
Geelong 2009, 13 wins, Premiership
Geelong 2008, 15 wins, Grand Final
Geelong 2007, 15 wins, Premiership
Brisbane 2001, 15 wins, Grand Final
Essendon 2000, 20 wins, Premiership
Carlton 1995, 16 wins, Premiership

Last I can find, Essendon won 15 straight in 1981 after starting 1-5, but finished 4th in a top 5 and lost the elimination final.

Geelong gave us Hinkley. Without the phone calls and glowing endorsements of Andrew Mackie, Cam Mooney et al he'd have stayed up at Gold Coast, continuing to white and Guy McKenna until he was sacked, and then perhaps walked into that job for a few years until he was sacked. Geelong may have inflicted a record grand final defeat on Port, but that pales compared to them inflicting Ken Hinkley on Port.

The quirk of Keith Thomas being a teammate of Ken’s during their fleeting time together at Fitzroy is one of the all-time coincidental misfortunes, too.

Yea I dunno about blaming the Geelong guys recommending him tbh there was a shift in his mentality very early on in his tenure here.

The guy that admitted fault at HT in the final against Geelong in 2013.. He doesn't admit personal faults or indicate he would change things now.

The 2014 guy that nearly throttled the seed thrower in the coaches box very quickly turned into a gameday corpse on aspartame life support.

I'm sure there's more.

We overlooked Chris Scott for Matt Primus, and didn’t consider Kingsley last year as an alternative for Hinkley. We’re not very good at picking winners.

Things changed when Walsh got stabbed.

Things changed when Walsh got stabbed.

And his other mate had a fatal heart attack around the same time.

Footy was no longer as important.

Important enough to keep collecting fat cheques for the next 8 (10) years though.

Carlton won 13 in a row in 2000 as well. They only made the prelim. Similar to us they had a bad streak at end of year. We beat them with a Burgoyne after siren goal.

To be fair, Koch's mantra of stability equals success may well have meant that no matter who is our coach, they would've been perservered with as long as they weren't a complete dunce. Unfortunately as such Hinkley has done just enough to keep Koch riding his theory.

I suspect this had a massive influence as well, once the edge & drive is gone it's over.

I doubt he was as chummy with the players in the early days as he is now either.

Primus set the club up for success.

We have no idea if he was or wasn't a good coach because we never gave him the support he needed.
