Why don't journos in pressers bring this stuff up, and drill him harder when he tries to wriggle off the ****ing hook.
Ken you've just coached the worst four final stretch in AFL history, two questions...
1. Do you feel disappointed that your players have let you down on the big day? Does it frustrate you that you prepare them perfectly but then you can't kick it for them out there?
2. How does it make you feel, knowing that you've managed to bring a group of players this poor in to the top 4 multiple times? Do you think you're in contention for coach of the year again?

I only found out last Friday, after my mate in Sydney who I used to play footy with at Uni, rang me to talk about the game, as he is a Port member, and we talked about this site, as he visits it a lot, and told me the stats guru for this, is the son of a mate we used to play footy with at Uni.

Dad is a Port supporter and mum is a Geelong supporter. From memory I think the son is a Port man, but that was in the early '00's when he was about 6. He might have jumped ship since then, give 2007 GF and everything since then.

My mate also told me they do a podcast, which I've never listened to, and its my mate's son's mates who do the humour stuff and he's the nerd who does all the stats.

I might have to put in a few more Hinkley era stats requests.

They let him smirk and deflect his way through both straight sets pressers last year.

Michelangelo sets the tone with softballs, and the other journos could not give less of a f#%k about us.

Rucci was at his hard hitting best in his Monday Review this week..... by completing ignoring the game and just writing about the AFLW instead.

I wish there was a journo good enough, courageous enough, to do a Richard Carleton opening type question in 1983 - Mr Hawke do you feel embarrassed with the blood that's on your hands? ( after he had just knifed Bill Hayden).

First question if we lose should be, when do you expect to be sacked Ken?

Ken ain't no Bob Hawke, to comeback with what he did back then.

Mike Willesee, John Hewson, and the birthday cake also comes to mind.

If anyone can find corresponding footage of Choco smirking, grinning and laughing amidst the September calamities of 2001-3/7, that’d be great.

My mate D_One sent me another spreadsheet last night taken from his AFL Tables database. Now using the % method of losing 5 in a row to be the worst he said;

The worst 5 final losing streak is

Year.....................Round................Team............................... Score........................ Oppo......................... Oppo Score
1901
18
Geelong
24
Collingwood
45
1903
18
Geelong
29
Fitzroy
81
1912
19
Geelong
43
Carlton
71
1914
19
Geelong
38
Swans
44
1921
19
Geelong
54
Richmond
115

Geelong 0-5 and 52.8%
If Hawthorn get double our score less about 13 points, then we take the record.

I went thru his database and in terms of total points for the worst after 5 consecutive losses is Essendon 290 pts. We are at 226 pts after our 4 consecutive losses.

Year ............... Round
200923Essendon70Adelaide166
201125Essendon87Carlton149
201424Essendon81North Melbourne93
201724Essendon56Swans121
201924Essendon61West Coast116

He copied the Useless AFL Stats method of ranking worst consecutive loss as per their graphic they published after our pathetic effort vs Geelong.

Hahahah 2 out of 12 quarters.

Nothing more needs to be said, only actions now. Actions we will never see under the leadership of a guy that knows nothing about footy or anything that goes with a professional sporting club.

Fraudulent administration - Koch, Richardson and board members.

Fraudulent footy department - Davies, Cripps and Parker.

C grade coaching panel - Hinkley, Hartlett (haha), add the rest of the guys that wouldn't get a job anywhere else apart from with us.

Delusional philosophy - strength and conditioning, nutrition. We are the only club that seems convinced that size = bad. We look small and more often than not play like we're being bullied. But in theory we can run, yet that never ever seems to be obvious at any time ever.

Complete train wreck of a list. So many guys playing seniors that would be average at best in the SANFL and so many playing SANFL that would be standard country league players.

2 out of 12!

Wow

Ken can lose any type of final.

We've now lost two home prelim finals, two away prelim finals, a home semi final, an away semi final, two home qualifying finals, an away qualifying final, and a home elimination final in his tenure.

Just need to tick off away elimination and we've completed the set. Oh, and a Grand Final of course, but for the reasons set out above we're never going to see him get the opportunity to give that one a crack.

Here are the turnarounds from our most recent finals losses ...

'24 PF v Sydney - lost by 36 having previously won by 112 (148 point turnaround)

'24 QF v Geelong - lost by 84 having previously won by 6 (90 point turnaround)

'23 SF v GWS - lost by 23 having previously won by 51 (74 point turnaround)

'23 QF v Brisbane - lost by 48 having previously won by 56 (104 point turnaround)

'21 PF v Western Bulldogs - lost by 71 having previously won by 2 (73 point turnaround)

So the average score turnaround from the previous result for our last 5 losing finals is 97.8 points.

2013-2024
PA vs 9-18: 120W - 30L - 80%
PA vs 5-8: 26W - 36L - 42%
PA vs 1-4: 18W - 46L - 28%

*Top 4 taken as post finals ladder pos.

I take the Minor Round ladder as reference. I have the data for Top-4 for the whole league. It’s better putting our record in perspective.

I haven’t collected the data for the 5th-to-8th yet.
