Here's a letter I sent to The West this week after they ran a story on Ryan headlined "My Wake-Up Call.....Ryan breaks his silence on the crash that turned his life around':

"I don’t begrudge talented Eagles forward Liam Ryan any success that comes his way – but gee I wish other indigenous players in this town had his media adviser.

Too late for poor Shane Yarran, hounded before he took his own life. But maybe Harley Bennell, whose public record has been way cleaner in recent times than Ryan’s, could benefit. Not having the putdown ‘troubled’ automatically attached to his name in every story would be a start."

I'm still waiting to see it in print....

Great letter.

The relationship between 7 West and that club stinks.

Now we have the laughable situation where they publish that article about the crash that never really happened as being part of his redemption.

$600k if true for a player who has played one season would be bit ridiculous given what Neale appears to have been on
that's what started it. Neale had Brayshaw living with him and one of Neale's wives found out from Andy when he was recuperating with his broken jaw and said "bmbmbmbm 6mumbred sadfsdadfm". So she spat the dummy and threatened to move to Brisbane. The rest is history.

Good example of how inept Hardie is. His opinion on how Gold Coast will decide to trade Tom Lynch to Richmond and still receive pick 3 compensation from the AFL. Not sure who listens to this station, but his co-host Tony Shaw obviously isn't the brains of the operation. The guy called Matt seems to have an inkling that what Hardie is saying is crap.

What the **** did I just listen to?

Does anyone have any idea how Free Agency works in that conversation?

Holy shit, I think i just developed ear cancer

I know I shouldn't listen to 6PR, but Karl the other night acknowledged that the WA media was a bit insular and relating Neale looking for a trade as a culture issue at the Dockers, when you have a max exodus as other clubs like the Swans, but no one is making comments on culture. Suggested that this is just the way the game is now with free agency.

NFW?! He admitted that maybe we aren't rotten to the core?

I am blown away.

He is very strong with his contacts at WC.

I will take this as meaning that Gaff and Lycett are gone!!

He certainly does not give a cr@P about us but can see some blow back on his club. Also Cox, Mitchell, Longmuir out of coaching recently but not a peep.

Interesting article about the next generation of coaches coming through. I’m going to be seriously annoyed if we don’t add some fresh ideas this off season.
I would love to get Longmuir in to the fold sooner rather than later. Sounds like he has lots of good idea which would help now and could be there is Rossco doesn't get the job done.

I would hope the club is looking at some of those other coaches to bring on as assistance coaches.

Completely agree. Interesting that none of our assistant coaches get any sort of mention.

The way media talk about Lyon I picture him like Spacey off Horrible Bosses.

Lyon ‘Good news everyone. I’ll be taking up all the assistant positions and only asking for 80% of their wages’.

Then pan out to someone knocking out the wall dividing the offices to create one large office for Lyon.

Interesting that none of West Coast's assistant coaches get any sort of any mention either.

Of those that are mentioned, the following facts are noteworthy -
  • Six have been assistant coaches under Lyon
  • Five work for non-Victorian teams, either in their home state, or a state they moved to from another non-Victorian state.

Did Neale say he was looking for a trade ? Maybe the culture problem is at 6PR

Sam Mitchell, WC assistant was mentioned in the "young guns". Also from memory Scott Burns and Longmuir both came from he Eagles to their present positions.

Only assistants were rated. How many Head Coaches were assistants under Clarkson at Hawthorn?
