Re: who intends on being a melbourne heart fan?

If they can get Stelios in it will certainly attract a lot of the Greek fans

He'd still be a very good player, certainly for this level.

If they can get it done, they go and do it.

Re: who intends on being a melbourne heart fan?

I'm moving to Melbourne next year so it will coincide nicely, as I enjoy the A-League but don't really follow a side.

Re: who intends on being a melbourne heart fan?

The logo is up on the Hun site, as well as yet another article on Viduka and the possibility of coming out of retirement to play for Melbourne Heart.

I for one am happy with the logo and although it's not a traditional design, I still think it works, especially the one shown in the Viduka article where it has the club name incorporated above the emblem.

And as for the thread title, yes, I am now a Melbourne Heart fan. :thumbsu:

Re: who intends on being a melbourne heart fan?

when looking at the logos my eyes go into some sort of a fit.

not too dissimilar to these monstrosities

Re: who intends on being a melbourne heart fan?

I actually don't mind it, they managed to sort of avoid the heart effect, but overall, very happy with the team name and logo.

Re: who intends on being a melbourne heart fan?

Love everything about the logo.

Bold, strong and makes an impression.

The red and white is Melbourne's flag colours so some traditional value thrown in.

Well done Melbourne Heart FC.

Re: who intends on being a melbourne heart fan?

Funny ain't it?

Most places, from where I'm standing, whether here or elsewhere, favoured Sporting Melbourne over Melbourne Heart.

So much for the public having a say, any money says the conversation went along the lines of: "well, we've been known as Melbourne Heart for this long now, we've practically got our hands tied... stuff the online polls, we'll stick with the syndicate name."

And as it turns out, that picture with the Bats, it was a complete fake, but miles and miles better:
Hoops>Stripes
Bats>Heart
That logo>this logo
Sporting Melbourne>Melbourne Heart.

Ah well, what's done is done. Now you must make up your minds people, the derby is official.

Its either this:

agree with that. you gotta think that the polls were purely designed to get people interested and talking about the club.

if powers that be are questioned on the name "heart" they'd prob turn around and say "people are creatures of habit and would have a hard time adjusting to another name". blah blah...

Re: who intends on being a melbourne heart fan?

Complete amatuer logo. The one with the bats and whatnot actually looked professional and quality. The kits okay, I would have liked black shorts though.

Now begs the question, who to support? I've somewhat supported Victory, went to a lot of games early on but over the last season or two have lost interest. The fact that Heart might play all of there home games at the new stadium sways me towards them, and the chance to be part of a club from the very beginning is a nice prospect.

Re: who intends on being a melbourne heart fan?

I'm sure they'll soon pick up the nickname "Hearts", which I actually like because I've played for a Hearts club before.

Re: who intends on being a melbourne heart fan?

It's quite a nice design but strikes me more as a logo that would be better suited to a corporation than a football team. Having said that most of the A-league logos are shockers so the bar is pretty low anyway.

yeah but considering this is the a league where shithouse names are mandatory im sure Heart will be the nickname

Re: who intends on being a melbourne heart fan?

Can't believe that after all this change with soccer in this city, we've ended up with two teams, one called "Victory" and one called "Heart".

Bloody awful.

Sporting Melbourne, with a nickname of the 'Bats'm would've been just utterly fantastic given the A-League's standard (Roar, Fury, Glory).

Re: who intends on being a melbourne heart fan?

Apparently with the new logo, they've breached the Intellectual property of the Lord Mayors charity foundation.

Didn't quite hear all of it, but that logo that they have designed and released may have to be changed.
