Bastinac another really good example, he did put together some seriously statistically impressive games for North but just has never kicked on.

Bit surprised to read this thread and not see the name CHRIS MAYNE mentioned.

Everyone knows the story though, so maybe it goes without saying.

11 years, 175 games medium forward who's best season return goal wise was 39, and was chased onto the big coin at Collingwood for another 3 years.

Just bog average in every sense of the word.

A side one that I might suggest is Brent Reilly. 200 games, and I barely noticed him do much good during games.

His strength was his pressure on the ball going the other way , And at his best he was better at that than anybody,Having said that the pies picked picked him up on the downside of his best, And most Dockers supporters were happy to get B. Hill for him:D

Yep agreed that's a perfect candidate for the thread.

Do you remember how freaking good Dane Swan was in 2010? It was Ray who tagged him to good effect in GF1.
Mark Bolton used to have Adam Goodes’ measure regularly from memory.

I don’t remember him ever playing against anyone other than Sydney though.

Shaun Atley, he's played 150 games for north, and i doubt a lot of you know his name

No most would. He got touted up as Judd-like in his draft and first couple of years in the AFL.

Yes he is an ordinary player, but his pace is anything but.

I'd rate Maxwell above average...Pretty bloody good defender for mine.
Not a pretty footballer but he was effective.

Yep. Good scrapper and very good footy smarts.

Agreed his one on one and third man in instinct were pretty much elite - just that they were in areas that fans don't associate with class or skill.

Yep he covered those shadows with aplomb! But seriously the Bloke hardly ever played on anyone and had the easiest job in afl being a professional third man up.

He was not as bad as people make out but he was definately aberage at best. May have been good captain but on field was just average.
