When Buddy kicked the goal in the '07 EF, I thought to myself 'we're going to win a flag in the next few years'.Oh hell yeah. That 3rd quarter was the best quarter of football I've seen. I've watched it s many times.

Actually, it was everitt who told them to go back to their positionsWillo was so confident about kicking the goal he told the Essendon players to go back to their positions before he kicked for goal.
Prelim for me. The '08 Grand Final was - and I hate to use this overused term - surreal. I was in a dreamstate afterwards as not sure how we did it - had few expectations coming into the game. But nothing beats storming home with a wet sail in the last quarter of such a big game as the prelim. Watching the replay, Cometti's pre-prepared 'get the hearse for the curse' line kind of spoils the final moments though.
I don't think anything will ever outdo the 2013 prelim final. The history leading up to the match. The pressure on the Hawks, and Harley was correct, this teams entire legacy was at stake. And everything that went wrong during the match, two shocking umpiring decisions that directly cost two goals, inaccurate kicking and so on and so on.
1997 was exciting to see a team on the up. It was pure joy and exhilaration. 2008 was similar, we might have believed we could win but we didn't expect to, I certainly didn't. 2013 PF losing was not an option, and despite everything going wrong they somehow got it done.
Yeah, I was ecstatic when the Crows knocked off the Saints to win their first flag!
2001 Semi Final at AAMI Stadium against Port Adelaide. One of the best 'away' matches in finals I've seen the Hawks play live. That was one hell of a game. Some unsung heroes in that game from the likes of Steven Greene, John Barker, Mark Graham. That saving mark by Mark Abraham won it for us in the end.
2007 Elimination Final at Etihad against Adelaide. Down by 31 points at one stage and having a few sore players like Hodge who battled on and was instrumental all day and controlled that back line on top of the emergence of Roughead, Franklin and Lewis who announced themselves as true finals players.
Those two matches would have to be my favourite finals wins that I've seen live.
Underrated game around here, what a superb match, Johnny Barker you hero!
No we wouldn't have. I've spoken to David Parkin about it, as he was a ass. coach during 01, and he said the players were that shot, they would have struggled to field a half competitive side.Going into that finals series I honestly felt we were a chance to win the flag from outside the top 4. Great team, but had a mid-season lull. If not for wayward kicking against the Bombers, we might have been able to knock off the Lions in the granny.

I blame that scumbag Goldspink. First quarter saw the worst umpiring of all time with Essendon being gifted goal after goal.If not for wayward kicking against the Bombers, we might have been able to knock off the Lions in the granny.
Yep, was there. That, and the '07 semi (which I went to as well) will go down as the most disgraceful, anti Hawk umpiring in history. Systematically and blatantly umpired out of both of those finals. It makes my blood boil when I think of either of them.I blame that scumbag Goldspink. First quarter saw the worst umpiring of all time with Essendon being gifted goal after goal.
