Oh hell yeah. That 3rd quarter was the best quarter of football I've seen. I've watched it s many times.

When Buddy kicked the goal in the '07 EF, I thought to myself 'we're going to win a flag in the next few years'.
After I saw this piece of play, I thought the same.
Funny how they both came true...

Prelim for me. The '08 Grand Final was - and I hate to use this overused term - surreal. I was in a dreamstate afterwards as not sure how we did it - had few expectations coming into the game. But nothing beats storming home with a wet sail in the last quarter of such a big game as the prelim. Watching the replay, Cometti's pre-prepared 'get the hearse for the curse' line kind of spoils the final moments though.

Cometti is clever, isn't he - knows how to rhyme!

When I hear Cometti commentating, I feel as if there's actually nobody there. He's like a voice detached from the body; a ventriloquist's puppet without the ventriloquist.

"That may have been his objective...bounced it to Hill...I'm..not..sure..it..was! :) :)"

Urrgh...

Very difficult....

But Prelim for sure! I was in a corp box drinking wines with mostly Hawks supporters. The feeling at 3/4 was one of pure despair. I was slouched in my chair and was ruing another goal to them on the 3/4 siren would be too hard to come back from against this fricken team. Even at 5 points up with seconds to go I could see the nightmare unfolding before my eyes....then we won it...and the box ERUPTED hugs and high 5's all round UNBELIEVABLE. The best win I've seen.

I was at the 07 prelim also. Again pure elation and joy and only just second coz we lost meekly the next week to North. The emergence of Buddy as a bona fide superstar was icing on the cake. The roar at the end was very similar to the 13 prelim. This was the best win before witnessing the 13 prelim.

08 GF I wasn't there. Up until the late 3rd quarter burst, it wasn't won, then POW! The Dew/Williams goal that broke Cats' back and then Rioli running into an open goal was are ones to never forget. Hard to go past a GF win, but in answer to the OP, the game was already won in the last quarter.

Geez we are a lucky lot!

Incidentally, when Hill scored that goal in the last 1/4 V Freo I was waving my scarf around like a maniac and like never before as this put it beyond doubt. Hill will always be remembered for doing this to me.

I voted 07 Elim only because I was there and the place erupted and there was so much hugging of strangers everywhere!

Buddy was amazing!

But in terms of Excitement and satisfaction, nothing beat 13 Prelim. TO beat them after 11 straight loses... bloody awesome. Best win ever. Would of been matched by the 11 Prelim had we won... that Buddy goal to put us in front was the stuff of dreams and legends.

I don't think anything will ever outdo the 2013 prelim final. The history leading up to the match. The pressure on the Hawks, and Harley was correct, this teams entire legacy was at stake. And everything that went wrong during the match, two shocking umpiring decisions that directly cost two goals, inaccurate kicking and so on and so on.

1997 was exciting to see a team on the up. It was pure joy and exhilaration. 2008 was similar, we might have believed we could win but we didn't expect to, I certainly didn't. 2013 PF losing was not an option, and despite everything going wrong they somehow got it done.

Yeah, I was ecstatic when the Crows knocked off the Saints to win their first flag! ;)

I just watched the PF again yesterday and I'm still smiling. All 3 of those wins were amazing, but I'll never get tired of hearing "get a hearse for the curse," no matter how pre-rehearsed it was. The result of the 08 GF is more significant as it directly netted us a flag, but given the pressure to win and the quality of the game, the 2013 PF just wins for me.

2001 Semi Final at AAMI Stadium against Port Adelaide. One of the best 'away' matches in finals I've seen the Hawks play. That was one hell of a game. Some unsung heroes in that game from the likes of Steven Greene, John Barker, Mark Graham. That saving mark by Mark Graham won it for us in the end.

2007 Elimination Final at Etihad against Adelaide. Down by 31 points at one stage and having a few sore players like Hodge who battled on and was instrumental all day and controlled that back line on top of the emergence of Roughead, Franklin and Lewis who announced themselves as true finals players.

Those two matches would have to be my favourite finals wins that I've seen.

Underrated game around here, what a superb match, Johnny Barker you hero!

Going into that finals series I honestly felt we were a chance to win the flag from outside the top 4. Great team, but had a mid-season lull. If not for wayward kicking against the Bombers, we might have been able to knock off the Lions in the granny.

No we wouldn't have. I've spoken to David Parkin about it, as he was a ass. coach during 01, and he said the players were that shot, they would have struggled to field a half competitive side.

It's nigh on impossible winning from outside four (and Adelaide doesn't count, as they got a double chance). Still, the 01 boys did bloody well and stretched heavy flag favourites Dopendon right up to the final siren.

Just watched the 2013 victory pack series and would like to throw a little love towards Stratts and Hill, whose performances may not have stood out as much as some others, but by geez were important.

The 2013 Prelim was cluttered with some awful turnovers gifting Geelong some easy goals as well as some disgraceful umpiring decisions that also resulted in goals to the Cats. Very frustrating. Unfortunately it detracts from the enjoyment of watching the match again. Also, I think I may have to return the victory pack as the video distorts badly at the start of the 3rd Qtr in the Prelim game. Anyone else have that problem?

I blame that scumbag Goldspink. First quarter saw the worst umpiring of all time with Essendon being gifted goal after goal.
Yep, was there. That, and the '07 semi (which I went to as well) will go down as the most disgraceful, anti Hawk umpiring in history. Systematically and blatantly umpired out of both of those finals. It makes my blood boil when I think of either of them.

Yeah I've heard the same thing, it's amazing how injuries really curtailed that 2001 Hawthorn side onwards after that season.

Serious ongoing injuries to Barker, Holland, Thompson, Hay etc really killed our side.

Like most, I've been lucky enough to be at all 3, and as great as a Grand Final win is, nothing has come close to the sheer emotion and random man love after the prelim this year. As I was standing in my usual m10 it just went bananas .. Like what you would normally go through after a GF win... Will never EVER forget that night..
