Helps that the weather’s been a bit all over the shop in Perth and Melb tooGood to see the pitches for the Shield this round have a bit in them.
A bit in it for the bowlers makes for a better round of cricket.
Especially after having 3 draws last round.
Hopefully some of the bowlers can be given some test experience.Good to see the pitches for the Shield this round have a bit in them.

A true battle of the bang average players thereWeatherald and Cartwright were STILL having words after the game there. Would love to know what is going on between them. Nothing was resolved obviously.
Marsh opening and you'd have the same problem as you stated with Inglis and Head.Head & Inglis can't open in tests for the same reason as Smith. They rely on their eye as opposed to technique. Sure their technique isn't bad but against guys who can swing the ball both ways and a new ball thats moving off the pitch their base technique isn't good enough for them to get their footwork in place and their head over the ball.
Against India the team has other issues as well. The Bison, Green (not playing) tend to be very poor opening their innings against spin. If anything Australia's batting line up is brittle in comparison to previous generations. They really struggle against high end speed, are technically poor at the top of the order and the middle order (where it should be a strength) aren't the best at playing spin. With the series being played in Australia if we aren't going to play a second pure opener then Marsh is the guy to move up the order.
Smudge with all his eccentricities with the bat and with his age is really only 1 away summer away from no longer being up to it. Hopefully he makes it to the end of the Ashes and plays the Ashes well and retires.
Inglis is ready to take the gloves but it's still Carey's spot imo as the keeper. He has a tendency to put in his best performances with the bat when the team is struggling.

FWIW, I think Inglis has a better technique than MM and Head.
I think it's a two horse race between Inglis and Konstas.
Rough on Cartwright who's been a consistently reliable batsman for WA for years.A true battle of the bang average players there
I hope Weatherald didn't say anything about the birth of his kid on day two. That would be enough to set Cartwright offWeatherald and Cartwright were STILL having words after the game there. Would love to know what is going on between them. Nothing was resolved obviously.
