He averaged 23 touches and almost 6 tackles per game. I think that's being slightly disingenuous.

We can't play them all.

Stephens will play plenty of VFL football and is absolutely dominant at the level.

Fisher will play plenty of football.

Duursma and potentially someone like FOS/Lalor will be there at times.

I hope we play Goater in there personally.

I think you underestimate the depth of our young players now. Duursma will completely shit on that level with a second AFL preseason. The same if GW, Powell or Colby dropped down.


McDonald and Archer might even play there.

Goater, Bergman, Ford, Hardeman, Hansen isn't shit at the level, with Downie, Hotton etc.

Again, smalls of Konstanty, Ford, Harvey, George* + Sam Lowson.

A group of talls which will play games of CCJ, Teakle, Pink, Dawson, Goad is hardly shit at that level either. Particularly if we draft another 1 or 2.

I agree with your overall take, with the caveat that Lowson has signed with Southport

We tend to invite undrafted players to the program. But we definitely need some mature players as we are a development focussed program vs others that are all about flags.

20 year old 195cm 85kg midfielder. Another who was very unlucky not to get drafted in his draft year.

Another who we could potentially be a MSD candidate if he can get some extended game time at VFL level.

I dunno, watching him playing for our reserves whilst acting as a meat shield for our younger brigade would be kind of rewarding.

He's a good VFL level player.


VFL side is looking extremely strong at this point if they land a few of these, with some of our returning players.

We've always lacked talls the last few years, but CCJ, Teakle, Goad, W.Dawson (if there), K.Dawson, Pink (if there) is a pretty damn solid group for the level.

Our fortunes at VFL level won't be on the back of Darcy MacPherson types. They'll be made from the names you mentioned and having a healthy list in the seniors so the likes of Stephens, Fisher, Phillips, Bergman, Hardeman, Goater and perhaps even McDonald all play lots of VFL. If that happens we'll do well. If we have another shitty year on the injury front, ol mate Darcy isn't dragging us out of the doldrums.
