Well, if this was a major concern to us, then we wouldn't then take on the wages we are seemingly going to give Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, which looks like its all but done. A Fowler-JFH partnership with McLean as the 3rd striker might be rather fruitful. But that'll be a tremendously old strike duo. But heck, don't think we care who gets us there, as long as we get there.

JFH to Cardiff?

this man is an imbecile and should be let nowhere near running a milkbar let alone a ****ing football club

Hasselbaink signs for Bluebirds

Striker Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink has agreed a one-year-deal to join Cardiff City.
The 35-year-old Dutchman has been without a club since being released by Charlton Athletic last season.
He was on the verge of a move to Leicester City but that broke down at the weekend.
That alerted the Bluebirds with chairman Peter Ridsdale keen to link up with Hasselbaink again, after working with him at Leeds United.
Hasselbaink met with Ridsdale earlier in the week and agreed to join Cardiff on a one-year-deal today.
Bluebirds manager Dave Jones vowed this week to bring in a new forward before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
Hasselbaink is the latest big signing to head to Ninian Park with former England internationals Robbie Fowler and Trevor Sinclair already at the club.
He will not play for the Bluebirds against QPR this weekend, and will link up with his new team-mates on Monday.

Its done.

Premiership or administration beckons.

Huge risk, rolling the dice big time - if it doesn't come off, fixtures Vs. Leeds/Bradford beckon..

Interestingly we had a big Hungarian international centre-back on trial who Burley decided not to sign and a day later he was snapped up by CCC new boys Bristol City and in the last few days we had Dutch CB Ruud Knol on trial and seemingly impressed everyone and it looks like he is gone.

I really don't know what is happening.

Kenwyne Jones is not in the line-up for the League Cup game tonight and didn't play the other day. Burley says he is injured but I think he (and Jhon Viafara :() are off to Derby. Deal is rumoured to be 6.5 million pounds for both. Great money but it would leave us in an even more precarious situation.

BTW good win Palace03. I haven't watched any highlights of the game and I don't intend too but it sounds like our new central defender on loan from Reading had an absolute shocker. Still, very few teams come to St Mary's and leave with such a scoreline so your team deserves a lot of credit.

Burley just didn't rate Vasko, which is why he ended up at Bristol City.

With Knol, we offered him a short-term deal (6 months) which he rejected, citing 1-2 years min. There were also questions marks surrounding wages - as that was the reason he left Vitesse.

Then we go ahead and sign Thomas, in my opinion a 'knee-jerk' signing after the Posh game. No way is he worth $1m+, previous bid being only a few months ago for 200k! I'll give the lad some time to prove himself, but I cant help but wonder whether we couldve spent Peles transfer more wisely?

To be fair, Palace were about 6/10 - our defence gifted 3 of the 4 goals, the only one they really earned was the 1st. We on the other hand 1/10, with only certain players standing up and being counted (e.g Skacel)

Kenwynes transfer is still 50/50 imo, Burley has sent out mixed messages to the press, one day scoffing at Derbys advances, the next suggesting that he'll consider most offers. Ive also heard that he will play against Norwich, which is nothing but good news in my opinion.

Big game for the Tykes against Colchester tonight. Will be interesting to see if we keep the 5 defender formation that has been persisted with in the first league game and the Cup game/

Plymouth Argyle boss Ian Holloway has been taken to hospital as a precautionary measure ahead of their Championship match against Ipswich.
He was taken ill shortly before the game was due to begin.

Tim Breacker and Des Bulpin were placed in charge of the first team in place of the absent Holloway.

A statement on the club's website announced Holloway's illness but no further details were given about the condition of the 44-year-old.

Ipswich have gone up 1-0 away to Plymouth.

That's the only goal in the first 25 minutes of tonights 11 matches.

Disappointing to hear that news about Ian Holloway. Having watched him on Soccer AM and Any Given Sunday he's a great character.

Hope Ian Holloway is OK. He is one of the best characters in the game, I'd love to see him in the premier league one day. Post match interviews would certainly be different with him in charge.

Agreed, BBC Column always gives me a laugh...

Mistake from Barty lets Norwich score from an indirect FK

Didn't there used to be a show called 'The 5 million dollar man'?

6 million

Maybe another nothing club like Fulham could step in and offer us more for him.

Oh, we conceded a equaliser. I'm shocked that we conceded with our great defence.

Jamie Cureton owns us.

He killed us when he played for Colchester last season and he's doing it again. Something like 6 goals against us now.

There was a time when plays like Van Nistelrooy and Shearer scored against us. Now it's Cureton.

24th place for us.
