The "B Team" strike partnership of MacLean & Parry both get on the board, before stepping back for Jimmy Floyd & Robbie next week.

My boy MacLean is very unlucky.

Stoke won the late game 2-1 against Charlton

Cue another stupid N/T Stoke comment.

Jamie Cureton owns us.

He killed us when he played for Colchester last season and he's doing it again. Something like 6 goals against us now.

There was a time when plays like Van Nistelrooy and Shearer scored against us. Now it's Cureton.

24th place for us.

Oh dear, your one of 'those supporters' - I was under the impression that a Championship season was completed over 46 games? Saints are perenial slow starters and it's always going to take an extra few games for our latest signings (bought to fill pretty important positions) to get in sync with the other lads.

I'll reserve judgement til October, if we are still languishing, then its time to get concerned.

All I said in that last post were facts.

- Jamie Cureton scored goals in both games against us for Colchester last season and he's done the same for Norwich.

- We were currently 24th on the table, now 23rd after Sheffield Wednesday's loss.

- A few years ago we were in the Premier League, now we are heading into our third season in the Championship

Do you disagree with the above points?

And yes, I am one of 'those' supporters. I'm someone who subscribes to Saints TV and listens to every one of our games. And I do get upset and angry when we lose. I will be critical of George Burley for his selections or criticise individual players if I feel they aren't performing. That's me. I care too much to reserve my judgement for another few months when I think we aren't performing now.

Plenty of other places to go if you want to talk Saints with your type of supporters champ.

Noted, they may be facts but your posts seem soaked with pessimism only a couple of matches into the new campaign - how many ladder leaders in August have gone on to win League Championships?

For the record I'm not pro-Burley, but you'd be hard-pressed finding someone better at the moment.

Firstly I'm happy that there's another Saints fan on here.

There's only a few of us and the others haven't been posted that often. I can't blame them really (there's more negativity ;)).

Compared to many of the regulars at The Saints Forum I'm very positive.

You might be surprised to know that I don't want Burley out either. Some of his selections do surprise me though. Admittedly many of my opinions are based on what I read on our forums because apart from the overwhelmingly positive Official Site, Saints TV and Radio Hampshire that's the only means of getting Saints information.

If I do come across negative it's only because I care. All pre-season we've been reading stories of potential takeovers and boardroom dramas. I don't blame the club for selling Bale and Baird, they wanted to go and we received a fair price for them. Signing Saganowski was a big boost too but we didn't strengthen our defence adequately. When you hear stories of Ruud Knol getting offered a 6 month deal it just makes you wonder what's going on. I'm the same with St Kilda to be honest. I usually expect the worst and then enjoy it more than most when we do win.

We've still got a good squad and I'm hopeful we can improve but I will get upset when we lose. I won't apologise for that. A win against Stoke would be nice this weekend. Might keep Nip/Tuck out of this thread for a few days too.

Yes, I too read TSF and am extremely disappointed with the negative attitudes of some/becoming most. My opinions are also based on limited information, I suppose it's easy to take a neutral stand considering the many factions (Pro-Agst Burley/Pro-Agst Davis/Pro-Agst Wright etc) within Saints supporters (also disappointing).

I come across as neutral purely for the fact that it's still very early in the season and I don't see the point in getting too excited/disheartened in August. That certainly doesn't stop me from being disappointed when we lose and elated when we win!

I believe we did very well with the Bale/Baird transfers, recieving 'over the odds' with both in my opinion. I concur that our defence shouldve been looked at earlier, but I suppose GB was confident that Claus would recover in time and that Powell wouldn't stupidly get himself sent off in a friendly! With Knol, I believe he held us to ransom a little bit (knowing our central defensive quandary etc) - must've had the crazy idea that an English Championship side would pay him more than a Dutch premier league team. Good decision not to pander to his demands, as we should be trying to trim the wage bill.

From all reports(including the neutral ones) we were unlucky not to get a result at Norwich, play to that standard this week and we'll give ourselves every opportunity of knocking over Stoke!

We could let you borrow Azza again ;) Contrary to popular opinion i don't like to see you struggle TOO much as Clashes are always classics, on the pitch at least

What? And 'attempt to keep us afloat' again? That p***k has done enough damage to my footy club.

Enjoy your time in the sun, things will turn sooner than you expect. ;)

Lucky to pinch a point in stoppage time and a reasonable result I guess. Fonte impressed on debut, and with Watson, Ifill and Hughes to come back this week things are looking ok so far.

It's great having a few smaller teams come up with tiny old grounds. Colchester, Scampaignerhorpe, Blackpool and Bristol City. It's a credit to these clubs getting into the Championship with what you would think to be minimal funds to spend on the squad.

Agreed, terrific effort by those teams on getting into the CCC - sometimes a packed ground of 9,000 could be more intimidating than a 50,000 stadia, due to the fans being so close to the pitch.
