Pretty disappointing to lose that game, we were worth at least a point. Hopefully you are right FrangaRoo, start to creep up before Xmas before charging home into a playoff place...

Missing an open goal at the end didn't help, and how the **** they did block Fowler's certain goal?

The question I would be asking is why the **** did Alan Wiley allow an extra 45 seconds to the allocated 4 minutes of stoppage time. It gave Cardiff enough time to have that final shot at goal and I can't work out why he would let play go for so long when there had been no substitutions or stoppages during the 4 minutes.

Outstanding block by Alan Bennett though. For a team with such a horrible defensive record this season the committment of our players was fantastic and it's that kind of committment that we'll need if we're to put ourselves in play-off contention.

Alan Bennett? I knew things were bad but not that bad

Haha Matt Le Tissier was not impressed at all! I was extremely surprised we were allowed another crack, pretty ordinary reffing to be honest and I would have been peaking if my side were defending a 1 goal lead and the ref plays so much extra injury time.

I liked the fact he didn't even try and be impartial. Just referred to Saints as "we" before and after the match. :thumbsu:

We've heard this before.

Saints in investment talks with UK company

Southampton have confirmed they have entered into negotiations with 'a major UK-based investment company' to become the 'majority shareholder' of the club.

The news follows reports Millionaire businessman Ray Ranson is lining up a takeover bid for the Coca-Cola Championship side.

Ranson is keen to take over a football club and has already failed with attempts to buy former side Manchester City and Aston Villa.

A Southampton statement to the Stock Exchange read: 'The board is delighted to announce that it has agreed in principle to proceed with indicative proposals from a major UK-based investment company (the 'investor') under which, subject to shareholder approval, the investor will become the majority shareholder in Southampton Leisure Holdings Plc (the 'company') with a total shareholding of not less than 55% of the company.

'The investor proposes to become the majority shareholder by injecting a substantial sum directly into the company by means of a placing of new shares and to commit additional funds in order to acquire a tranche of pre-existing equity from current shareholders by means of a partial tender offer.

'The proposed placing of new shares would be at a discount to the current share price and conditional on the grant of a Rule 9 waiver by the Takeover Panel and approval of that waiver by independent shareholders, which would otherwise require the investor to make a takeover offer for the company's existing share capital.

'The investor has stated that the above proposals represent the beginning of a proposed long-term commitment on its part as a strong and supportive shareholder whose interests would be closely aligned with those of current shareholders and supporters of Southampton Football Club (the 'club') and other stakeholders in the company.

'In particular, the investor has indicated it will undertake a review of the club's financial structure. In addition to the significant equity investment proposed, the investor has confirmed that it has the financial capacity and intention to support the ongoing development of the Club and its youth academy and to strengthen its first team squad and prospects of promotion into the Barclays Premier League.

'The proposed investment is subject to, inter alia, financial and other due diligence and there is therefore no certainty that it will proceed in the above or indeed any other form.

'Further announcements will be made as necessary.'

Hull up 2-0 against Barnsley at Half Time.

From the very limited time I've seen of the game (due to Newcastle being on the other channel), Frazier Campbell looks like he's going to be one to watch out for.

We've heard this before.

Not sure what to make of Ranson. There was a fair percentage of City supporters that wanted him in charge of the club. He said all the right things, was English and a former Blue. To me it was all a bit stage managed and it was fairly clear that our board didn't want anything to do with him.

There were question marks over his ability to provide funds, and from memory there was a relationship with a company that specialises in buying companies, making a fortune out of them and selling them within a year.

Villa didn't want him, City didn't want him. I'd be surprised if he went too far with the Saints.

Terrible performance this morning :( It sucks that our first loss in 8 games and our worste result for the season happens to be the game they show on tellie. I thought the only Barnsley player who looked at all like doing anything was Campbell-Ryce and even he never really created any great chances. Devaney was OK when he came on as well, but thats about it

Mostto and Odejayi were totally anonymous although they hardly got any service and Souza had a shocker. Some of the passing was shocking

I didn't know it was on tellie but I'm glad I missed making any plans. I don't think we have a great history with televised games (bar that beautiful day in Cardiff)

As well as a couple of losses we beat Stoke on tellie last year which was a good win and had a draw with the Baggies so it hasn't been all bad. You really didn't miss anything though this morning. Very dissapointing

Some of Burleys changes have me bemused..

Vignal in for Skacel.. Viafara moved from midfield into central defence, relegating Bennett to the bench.. Surman taking Viafaras place in midfield.. Euell getting a start ahead of Idiakez..Leading scorer Rasiak - an away goal specialist remains on the bench with Wright-Phillips coming in for Saganowski???

Oh George, why shuffle around a winning hand..?

Personally the only change I wouldve made wouldve been Rasiak in for Saganowski, Viafara and Safri have formed a good partnership in midfield, Bennett played his best game in Saints colours against Cardiff - so lets drop him to help his confidence eh?

Idiakez has been terrific the past couple of games..

And now we are a goal down after 3 mins...

Well I just got home and having heard the score and some of the comments on Radio Hampshire I really can't see the point in listening to the second half.

Champions League second half it is.

Cardiff lead 2-1 at home over Wolves at half time by the way.

Yes, the two old stagers scoring one a piece - they desperately need a result, so good on them for not dropping their heads when conceding early..

If I can sit through the PNE debarcle, then I can sit through this ordinary effort..

I understand the need for rotations, I do, its just some of those changes just made me shake my head..

You're exactly right, I can't agree with any of the changes Burley has made.

Changing a defence that has finally kept a clean sheet?

Replacing a centre back with a midfielder?

Leaving the highest scorer and somebody who always scores on the road on the bench?

Replacing Idiakez with Euell? Skacel with Vignal?

It's beyond me.

Idiakez on for Surman at the start of the 2nd half.. A touch late GB
