what a tool.

hack.

can't believe he's even in the team.

what's burley doing?
has he lost his marbles?

I used to love playing with marbles when I was five/six.
but even at that age I never lost them.

:D I had him in my Derby team on the old manager game, Los Tres Amigos, Idiakez, Martinez and someone else

I'm only joking dude.

no need for the :rolleyes:/hostility.

I'm only a Stoke fan when they win. So considering they lost, I'm obviously not going to take offence to the criticism as this is when I run and hide like the pathetic spoilt bandwagoner I've tried not to become.

note - what nationality is this Idiskez? my old man is the expert on Polish names but it sounds like it could be one?

How many bandwagons are you currently strapped into? Were you a petulant child growing up where one lollypop wasnt enough?

Saints go 2-0 up after 15 mins thank to a BWP strike, then followed by a Euell header, but true to form we concede shortly after.. 2-1 at the break, who knows what the 2nd half will bring..

3-2 win! Another game of showcasing our attacking strength along with our defensive frailties (Akinbiyi bloody well scored against us!)

Still, 3 points are 3 points and we are now a solidary point outside the top 6..

Well, we were live on Sky over there but in Australia the game just finished on TV.

I had to avoid the scores all day but it was worth it. :thumbsu:

In fact I logged onto bigfooty this morning and could see that the last post on this thread was from you so I assumed we lost.

Very very happy with the win. Stern John has been a revelation in recent weeks. I expected him to score goals at this level but the way he holds the ball up really adds an extra dimension to our play. Allows us to play a pacy striker like Bradley Wright Phillips alongside him and he was excellent himself.

Jhon Viafara was immense at the back, as was Wayne Thomas who was playing against his old club and Nathan Dyer is developing into a very damaging winger. We still leak goals and it's an area we have to improve in if promotion remains a target but we play an exciting brand of football and will score plenty of goals.

First time I've posted on here in a while.

I can't believe the season (Bristol City) we are having. To be 2nd at this stage is beyond even the most optimistic City fans expectations.

All all honesty I still dont think we'll be there at the end of the year. We are the "small" club playing out of our skin at present. Think it will be Watford, WBA and Charlton at the top come May. A top half would still represent a great finish for us.

You might think I'm being subdued but this is the highest my club have been in my lifetime (and I'm 28). I still cant quite believe it.

Anyway, bring on Wolves next week. A team that traditionally belts us :)

Sainter - Saints were indeed unlucky not to get a point the other night. We were cruising at 2-0 and Saints did not look interested. It could have been 3 or 4 at HT. However, the 2nd half was a different story and were lucky to hold on for all three. Raziak missed some chances I'd expect him to bury.

fair play. :thumbsu:

always good to see proper/real fans on here and not the usual 'big four'/multiple team 'fans'. ;)

just on the quality of your words - you deserve more than a coke team.

hope for your sake Bristol City makes it to top flight -
the big fixtures against the likes of Chelsea, United and Villa are something to behold.

and quite seriously - for long suffering Bristol City fans (even older than your good self) one can only imagine what a trip to the Premiership would mean.

sadly, there's still a long way to go.

Kasper OK?

Didnt have that much to do, but should have probably been able to get a touch to the shot which resulted in the Scampaignerhorpe goal. Hard to be number 1 behind our shite defence though.
A bigger test comes on Wednesday....just a small occasion of a visit to Anfield.

We will probably beat Liverpool despite struggling to win a game in the league.

What a fantastic start to the season for your boys.

Like you said its going to be very difficult to still be there at the end of the season but there's nothing wrong with allowing yourself to dream. At the very least just make the most of it.

I remember watching your win again Sheffield United and being really impressed. At the start of the game I was surprised that your team started with just the one striker up front for a home game but the way that players like McIndoe and Sproule just terrorised the Blades defence all night. Gary Johnson is a great manager too. He seems destined to manage at a higher level.

It was disappointing to not get anything out of the match at Ashton Gate after such a dominant second half but when you start so poorly and give the opposition a two goal head start we've got no-one to blame but ourselves. Thankfully we took our second half form into the first 15 minutes at Burnley and those early 2 goals helped us to beat them.

You know that there's actually nothing wrong with the Coke league?

For myself as a supporter of a team that has spent 27 consecutive seasons in the top flight it's taken some adjustment and I would kill to return to the premiership but it's actually quite an entertaining league.

I believe it's the 6th most supported league in Europe and the standard is quite high as well. It's also a league where any team can beat another on any given day which is not something that you get in the premiership.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial

Denial is a defense mechanism in which a person is faced with a fact that is too painful to accept and rejects it instead, insisting that it is not true despite what may be overwhelming evidence. The subject may deny the reality of the unpleasant fact altogether (simple denial), admit the fact but deny its seriousness (minimisation) or admit both the fact and seriousness but deny responsibility (transference). The concept of denial is particularly important to the study of addiction.

The theory of denial was first researched seriously by Anna Freud. She classified denial as a mechanism of the immature mind, because it conflicts with the ability to learn from and cope with reality. Where denial occurs in mature minds, it is most often associated with death, dying and rape. More recent research has significantly expanded the scope and utility of the concept. Elisabeth K*bler-Ross used denial as the first of five stages in the psychology of a dying patient, and the idea has been extended to include the reactions of survivors to news of a death. Thus, when parents are informed of the death of a child, their first reaction is often of the form, "No! You must have the wrong house, you can't mean our child!"

Unlike some other defense mechanisms postulated by psychoanalytic theory (for instance, repression), the general existence of denial is fairly easy to verify, even for non-specialists. On the other hand, denial is one of the most controversial defense mechanisms, since it can be easily used to create unfalsifiable theories: anything the subject says or does that appears to disprove the interpreter's theory is explained, not as evidence that the interpreter's theory is wrong, but as the subject's being "in denial".

A commonly-cited example of spurious denial is the psychologist who insists, against all evidence, that his patient is homosexual: any attempt by the patient to disprove the theory (as by pointing out his strong desire for women) is evidence of denial and thus evidence of the underlying theory. This tension can become serious, especially in areas such as child abuse and recovered memory. Proponents often respond to allegations of false memory by asserting that the subjects are genuine victims who have reverted to denial. Critics reply (some seriously, some less so) that it is the proponents who are in denial about the tenuousness of their theories.

The concept of denial is important in twelve-step programs, where the abandonment or reversal of denial forms the basis of the first, fourth, fifth, eighth and tenth steps. The ability to deny or minimize is an essential part of what enables an addict to continue his or her behavior in the face of evidence that, to an outsider, appears overwhelming. This is cited as one of the reasons that compulsion is seldom effective in treating addiction — the habit of denial remains.

Understanding and avoiding denial is also important in the treatment of various diseases. The American Heart Association cites denial as a principal reason that treatment of a heart attack is delayed. Because the symptoms are so varied, and often have other potential explanations, the opportunity exists for the patient to deny the emergency, often with fatal consequences. It is common for patients to delay mammograms or other tests because of a fear of cancer, even though this is clearly maladaptive. It is the responsibility of the care team, and of the nursing staff in particular, to train at-risk patients to avoid such behavior.

[edit] Types of Denial

Denial of fact: This form of denial is where someone avoids a fact by lying. This lying can take the form of an outright falsehood (commission), leaving out certain details in order to tailor a story (omission), or by falsely agreeing to something (assent, also referred to as "yesing" behavior). Someone who is in denial of fact is typically using lies in order to avoid facts that they think may be potentially painful to themselves or others.

Denial of responsibility: This form of denial involves avoiding personal responsibility by blaming, minimizing or justifying. Blaming is a direct statement shifting culpability and may overlap with denial of fact. Minimizing is an attempt to make the effects or results of an action appear to be less harmful than they may actually be. Justifying is when someone takes a choice and attempts to make that choice look okay due to their perception of what is "right" in a situation. Someone using denial of responsibility is usually attempting to avoid potential harm or pain by shifting attention away from themselves.

Denial of impact: Denial of impact involves a person avoiding thinking about or understanding the harms their behavior have caused to themselves or others. By doing this, that person is able to avoid feeling a sense of guilt and it can prevent that person from developing remorse or empathy for others. Denial of impact reduces or eliminates a sense of pain or harm from poor decisions.

Denial of awareness: This type of denial is best discussed by looking at the concept of state dependent learning[1]. People using this type of denial will avoid pain and harm by stating they were in a different state of awareness (such as alcohol or drug intoxication or on occasion mental health related). This type of denial often overlaps with denial of responsibility.

Denial of cycle: Many who use this type of denial will say things such as, "it just happened." Denial of cycle is where a person avoids looking at their decisions leading up to an event or does not consider their pattern of decision making and how harmful behavior is repeated. The pain and harm being avoided by this type of denial is more of the effort needed to change the focus from a singular event to looking at preceding events. It can also serve as a way to blame or justify behavior (see above).

Denial of denial: This can be a difficult concept for many people to identify in themselves, but is a major barrier to changing hurtful behaviors. Denial of denial involves thoughts, actions and behaviors which bolster confidence that nothing needs to be changed in one's personal behavior. This form of denial typically overlaps with all of the other forms of denial, but involves more self-delusion.

That was a pointlessly long post. No real surprise considering the author...
It was purely and simply a joke. Quite a funny one at that.

Take offence to it like a little girl trying to carry favour with the big, bad moderator or grow some balls - afterall you have an 'Adelaide Gun' reputation to uphold.
