Guys if you don't mind me interjecting, there are a few points I'd like to make.

Firstly, what is with the ridiculous amount of hate towards West Coast? Look I understand there's a bitter rivalry between the clubs, and that's all well and good, banter is always appreciated and you're allowed to dislike particular teams and supporters, but honestly the magnitude is beyond ridiculous. A lot of you are fine but some of you just seem so one-eyed and biased that everything West Coast does is designed to put Freo down and it's just not true.

Secondly, in terms of the situation with McCarthy, we have players like Josh Kennedy and Mark LeCras who are still performing well, but age will catch up with them, and McCarthy at the very least may ease some of the pressure in that area. We're not heavily looking into him, but it'd be silly not to show some interest in a talented player that wants to come home. Honestly the fact that some of you think that WC are showing interest purely to make you pay more is a stretch and it's not like you guys wouldn't do the same in our position anyway.

Lastly, in terms of Jetta, Wellingham, Hill and Cripps. I completely agree that so far, Jetta has been a dud. However, at his best he certainly offers the club something unique, and in the long term Lycett is a much better backup ruckman for Naitanui so losing Sinclair hasn't really been a big deal.
I also agree that on the surface, paying pick 18 for Wellingham was way overs, but considering the lack of talent in that draft, it actually wasn't a big loss. His first two years were horrendous due to form and injury, but since last year, he's played an instrumental role in our backline in combination with Sheppard, both organising the defensive structures, locking down on players well above his weight category, and providing run & carry and great disposal from the backline. Your comments on Hill being a seagull, while not entirely true are somewhat correct. He's very outside and I'd certainly take Sonny Walters over him every day of the week, but he still provides a lot in the forward line, and kicking 40 goals in 22 games is a pretty solid effort. You'd take that from a small/medium forward. Finally on Cripps, he's not a seagull by any means, and while not being an overly spectacular contributor, is enormous in his physical pressure and tackling in the forward line, and still pops up for a goal or two every game, similar to Mayne when he actually scored goals regularly.

I understand you don't have to agree with any of those points, but I just wanted to say that I think you've based some strong opinions on a lot of players without actually reading into the impact they have on the structural integrity of the team, and I think although keeping up a strong rivalry between the two WA teams is great, the level of hate is really much greater than it ever needs to be. Banter is one thing but just one-eyed resentment is unnecessary.
Blah blah blah...still despise festboast

If we make an offer that GWS accepts but McCarthy does not sign off on, he's truly not homesick and the rumours of freo offering him 700k a year is true.
No, McCarthy doesn't have to play for West Coast. Why would he want to play for you when your KPP stocks are loaded, he has to agree to the trade, which he won't.

Freo 1st pick will be pick 3>5ish, you won't finish last No 2nd pick (traded for Bennell) and their 3rd round will likely be 38ish.

Eagles 1st will likely be pick say 15, 2nd 33ish and 3rd 50ish.

Hard to tell with all these free agency picks and then the northern clubs cashing in picks for academy kids.

But the Eagles 2nd will be better than Freo's 3rd. That's Freo's problem to deal with and the Eagles would definitely offer 33 for McCarthy.

Eagles can afford whatever they feel he's worth, they aren't desperate to land any single type of player as their list is balanced. They do need a gun mid more than another tall but at pick 15 most gun mid's and gun tall's are gone.

So Freo won't be getting Cam for pick 38, they will need to do better than that.

Not questioning the picks, they're obvious. im saying WC won't be able to offer money than Freo.

I would go as far as to say as Cam is as passionate a supporter of Freo as we are. A player that follows a club other than the one he plays for is unheard of. When Freo showed interest, his dreams came true.

Last year Cam wanted to come to Freo. He had his heart set on it. When it all looked likely he was chuffed. Then it didn't eventuate and it absoluitely crushed him. I reckon he's been given a second chance at his dream job and he still has that steely determination to make it. He'll come to us because the opportunities are greater. WCE have a plethora of KPP and we have f*** all. He'll almost be a walk up starter for us if he has a strong pre-season.

Almost!?!?

Almost!?!?

From where he's going to be coming from, he wont be a lock in. Especially if Yarran and Bennell get fit (Bennell is a big question mark too I know). As the post you're responding to said, he needs to have a very good pre-season because he's going to be coming from a fair way back as a fitness base. I know he's in training of sorts, but it's nothing like the rigour of a full on AFL program.

Yep, fair call.

Any of the South Freo fans heard or seen much about how Cam's going down there?

Yes I sure have

My mate 'Harry' who is linked to South Freo is boxing training him at the moment and has said his strength and conditioning has been coming along nicely.

I've bumped into Cam when he was with my mate a few weekends ago.
