Just in case anybody didn't notice, I am a NEWBIE.

One day if i am really lucky i might be a cult hero. Then i'll be a really big man and my parents will be very proud.

Doesn't change the fact that you won't get pick 1. If you don't think you're in the weaker bargaining position then i hope you never enter into any important negotiations without some help.

And I agree about bringing on next week.

Cool, school holidays end soon?

Who handles important negotiations without help anyway?..only a fool would.

Richmond will not deal with Carlton, the story today was a pr job by Carlton to pressure the Eagles. West Coast should be having discussions with Richmond and seeing what can be done to ensure West Coast and Richmond win from this circus and that Carlton pay the high price for Chris Judd.

FACTs:

1. Judd to Carlton
2. Richmond will get nothing out of this deal, Greg Miller would without doubt be the most useless man in Football (even most tigers supporters will agree with that) so with him running the tigers football division safe to assume they will get donuts. HEHHEHEHEHEHE

Carlton CEO Greg Swann has said the club's preference would be to strike a trade direct with the West Coast Eagles for Chris Judd, but revealed the Blues would be prepared to deal with third parties if necessary.

The Blues are understood to have canvassed a deal with Richmond whereby Carlton would swap pick No.3 in the NAB AFL Draft for Richmond's selection No.18 and a fringe player on the condition that the Tigers agree to bypass Judd in the pre-season draft where the Blues have the second pick.

Under that scenario, the Blues would retain pick No.1 which the Eagles covet but which Carlton wants for ruck prospect Matthew Kreuzer, Richmond would have picks No.2 and No.3 in the draft and the Eagles would lose Judd for nothing.

"We would be happy with that," Swann said.

"It is a good deal but I would also have to rely on a few things happening and I would rather rely on my own things.

"The Tigers are just positioning themselves pretty well I would think."

Swann told SEN there were many fanciful schemes and scams being tossed about at the moment, but the Blues would much prefer to strike a deal one-to-one with the Eagles,

"It’s much easier to deal on your own," he said.

"When you invite third parties in it makes it complicated but if West Coast are going to continue to talk about pick one then obviously we've got have a look at some plan B's.

"The Tigers are in a good spot."

Swann dismissed concerns that Judd may feel he is letting the Eagles down if the he somehow slips through to the pre-season draft.

"That has been said that he wants adequate compensation but he's also strong on the fact that he's given six years of good service and he doesn’t think we should be held to ransom either," said Swann.

"There should be a balance there.

"If it got down to that and they lost him for nothing in the pre-season they should be hung. You can’t lose Chris Judd for nothing; that would be ridiculous.

My favourite bit.

I hope if this happens Richmond screw you guys over. There is no way you can contract that deal, so good luck trusting Richmond.

In taht case Swann has really taken the gloves off, and WC need have no gentlemanly reservations about baring their fists too. Based on teh following CArlton may not be in such a strong bargaining position after all:

http://carltonfc.com.au/Season2007/News/NewsArticle/tabid/4311/Default.aspx?newsId=52134

" (Ratten):
“We’re trying to work out which picks we’ll have first [though]. We will have pick one, [but] we probably won’t have pick three.
“So we need to work out what our picks are and we’ll find out after trade week.”
The emphasis on ‘will’ was a less-than-subtle message for the Eagles who have demanded nothing less that the prized first overall draft selection in return."

Very interesting situation. Naturally cArlton want to get him as cheap as possible and think they are holding the cards since Judd has nominated Carlton. Obviously he is worht the #1 pick plus gold steakknives.

However there is a problem for Carlton. What if WC deals with Richmond and asks them for pick #2 in return for WC refusing to deal with Carlton and allowing them to get Judd in the PSD? According to previous posts Judd would not be eligible for the nat draft (where Carlton has first pick) - but that may have been based on his contract not being finished? Even if he is eligible, acc to another poster if he nominates for the nat draft he can only get base pay rate (plus fancy but probably boring dinners in Balwyn) - a great test of his conviction to play for Carlton which he would surely fail when millions are at stake.

IF Richmond agrees to offer pick #2 plus suitable extras, Carlton may have to offer pick 1 and equivalent extra picks/players to get him!

Will be interesting to see how WC play it, and if they hold their nerve... I also think Judd may not take sides in this, since he has some loyalty to WC and would respect their right to get a fair deal.

Rarely pop onto this board, but I saw this as a good opportunity.

It seems as though our two teams will assist eachother in bending over Carlton - or at least try to. Provided it is a success in how the deal transpires, will this be as close to a friendship two clubs have ever had in this competition? An interesting proposal.

I can't remember too far back but it seems that we're working together in one way or another. If this is the case, go Coasters. ;)

If it does come down to a Veale Deal, why would Richmond deal with Carlton? Do you really think they'd pass up the opportunity to draft Judd for a measly pick 3?

Lets see, trade pick 18 + fringe player for pick 3
or
trade pick 2 + 18 for Judd

It would be seriously stupid of Richmond to take up Carlton's offer. Eagles are firmly in the drivers seat for any Veale deal.

Thase dodgy deal proposals make me laugh.Richmond wouldn't chop Carlton out in a fit.Even if Carlton just said 1 and 20 the deal would be done.
And on dodgy deals, whats to stop Richmond giving West Coast 2 and a player for a rubbish pick providing West Coast let him go into the pre season draft? Not all one way traffic.

My take on it is, Swann has said they wont trade pick 1 and you should pretty much take what they offer.
If not they will deal with the Tigers and you will get nothing for him.
They think they have you over a barrel and are quite happy to go on the radio and tell everyone so.

They are just scum, hense their nickname.

We hate them, and certainly wouldn't trust them.

Deal with us.

Anyway i think our clubs have probably already spoken about this. Miller spent a week in Perth a couple of weeks ago to talk about someone, Morton or someone
Works out a good fall back position for you guys if Carlton try to rape you on the trade and nothing i have heard from them so far makes me think they plan to be gentlemen and buy you dinner first.

WCE and the Tigers should get together, work out a Veale deal or whatever and get it done.
Dont talk to the scum anymore at all. **** them. I would be peed right off by their attitude to trading with you.

I would certainly feel more comfortable dealing with your club, rather than dealing with those pricks to try and screw you over (even tho the deal would be pretty good for us - pick 3?).

We have PSD pick 1. You can make Judd go to us :thumbsu:

No chance of that happening.
1. If Weagles don't want to deal with Carlton, Judd goes into PSD, Richmond get a shot at him for nothing.
2. If WC will only let Judd walk into PSD if they're compensated by the Tiges, Judd can attempt to place a price on his head that the Tiges can't match. While, depending on their cap room, they might be able to afford him, they won't till after trade week - and surely they won't risk pick 2 and 18?
3. Richmond are in rebuilding mode - they've got probably a few years down the bottom yet, with the worst list in the competition. Trading for a 24 year old who will demand as much as Judd will could well be detrimental to their development.
4. Carlton's pick 3, 20 and Kennedy > Tiges picks 2 and 18.

Don't deviate from the script, ok

You missed - "take what we offer or you get nothing"

Re: Fevola To West Coast

There's no way you will. Because we don't need to make a FAIR offer to get Judd, just a BETTER offer than onyone else can...

When Hammill took off to the Saints we got screwed royally. Same happened to Port when Stevens left. That can happen when you are in the weaker bargaining position.

How is pick 3 + 20 + kennedy chump change?

Answer my question if we didnt have the priority pick which you still think Carlton would be screwing you over?

Your WCE are so proud it makes me sick. Get over yoursleves your premiership window has shut!!

Re: Surely not.

You West Coast supporters have me confused.

So you say you won't take the Carlton deal of 3+20+Kennedy but would rather do a side deal with Richmond whose offer is only pick 2+18

Am I missing something here??? The Carlton deal is clearly the better one so why would they go for a lesser deal.
