If we are going to move the Magpies to the SAAFL, why not have our reserve side in the VFL and have control of our own destiny.

We are not moving anywhere they said we are getting top up players from the magpies SAAFL side.

I don't know about that. At the end of the day, its likely we're going to lose all that at the end of next year anyway, and they've both pushed and pushed to change this. If this new news is indeed true, which I'm very skeptical about, then maybe there was just no other option. They've done everything so far to keep the Magpies, as is, complete with community ties and junior zones, I doubt they'd suddenly change their minds now without a good reason.

I've got no problem with them doing a Pontius Pilate and saying "My hands are clean of the blood of the Magpies. You yourselves must see to it." If they've tried all they can to keep our existing structure and the SANFL won't budge, and are basically saying "The Magpies are dead with or without you," then I'd rather they say "Without us thanks" then head to the VFL.

Why would you want to get into bed with the organization that is looking to slit your throat? Furthermore, what Port Adelaide fan would want us to agree to such a shit proposal, just to keep the nickname and jumper alive?

If the SANFL said to Port that the Magpies license would be revoked at the end of 2014, why give the SANFL what they wanted, a black and white prison bar jumper playing in their competition, why not an alternate power strip, like the Crows. It all looks a little coincidental that the Crows reserve side were told at the beginning, you can't use the Crows name and strip, suddenly they allowed these two things, it's starting to fit together now, we will never be allowed to be called the Power in the SANFL, even though the Magpies are in the SAAFL. Mind boggling bull shit imo.

It must have been a none negotiable by the sanfl, that the Power reserves wear a prison bar jumper, to keep an "artificial" magpie presence for the competitions benefit and survival. IMO if we are going to call our proposed SAAFL side the Magpies and loose our zones and juniors eventually, why can't we be called the Power, as the sanfl side will be a pure Power reserve side.

It's like stupid when he heard we'll have reservers in 2015 and he just assumed it would be in the SANFL. I'm confident if we have a team with top up players of our choosing, and not slops from the other clubs, it will be in the VFL. Why would the $ANFL renege on their equality demands they need to ensure the integrity of the league??

If we end up with no alberton home game I will be pretty sad and my 2 kids will be even worse. They love walking down to alberton and having a kick around on the Oval. Its all they care about really.

I cant see myself driving to any away games if its not really the magpies but if we have games at home I will still be going along. Its a great family day(dads day) out on a lazy sat arvo.

I guess I'll just have to take my girls to the local footy at rosewater instead. With all my mates kids too so Rosewater.f.c will be increasing profits when that happens.

Must say, this certainly flies in the face of the recent belligerence being portrayed by David Koch and Co.

KT and the Board run a tight ship, so this story leaves me a tad sceptical. To go down this path requires negotiation with other parties, ie amateurs (no not the $ANFL) and I'm not so sure they are as watertight as the PAFC hierarchy.

So it's up to PAFC to "save the SANFL" and we have six weeks to do it. He goes through a scenario where fringe SANFL playèrs used as top up players won't bother anymore when they can get paid more from country and amateur leagues, then how SANFL clubs will pull players back for their own teams close to finals...leaving the Crows reserve team with 10 players "when they face Geelong in a preliminary final".

Sounds like a good deal to me.

so you are happy to part with 400k a year plus CPI increases, no games at alberton (no home game revenue), no memberships (maggies would have at least 4k members) and have the SANFL dictate who we can give surgery to? while giving us fringe players from other clubs who can be taken away from us at any time on a bullshit rotation system? so having a bunch of nobodys that have no affiliation with the PAFC who will be playing with out guys for a few weeks then some other nobodys to replace them whenever.

So when Jake Neade or Ollie Wines needs a rest we wont be able to because we have to "play to the line" and they will play for the reserves team?

Even if Port supporters somehow accepted the loss of the maggies zones and youth teams *..as spadge points out the rest of the deal is total total total BS!
