#lolwonders

Now a lot of you that know me know I don't like doing media or have too much interest in the media side of things in the SFA however over the past week there has been one little saying that has been the talk of the Furies vs Wonders match thread and then today when I had some free time I went on to a little SFA podcast which featured Elton Johns Wig where he called out his former club (the Wonders) for getting over sensitive about a simple term that was used, #lolWonders

Now we all know this saying and let's be honest, we've all used the saying before when we haven't had anything else to contribute to a match thread before and it got me thinking today, where and when did this famous hashtag come about. Who was the genius that put forward the # and how old is this saying really. Elton Johns Wig believes the term was used much before he was introduced into the league which I believe was S22-23? And to answer his question, yes it very much is older than your time here EJW

Let's take a look back in time to finally see where the term #lolWonders came about....

I've done some massive research (10 minutes worth) and history suggests the first mention of #lolWonders was used way back almost 10 years ago. This post was posted by a former Baghdad Bombers legend loopy_cam who on June 8th 2012 and created history

Going back through the match thread it also looks like it was one of the first posts from loopy_cam as this was his next post in the match thread

What's amazing about this post and going through the match thread to when it was posted is the amount of current posters that were involved that are still active members of the SFA today. sausageroll, beez, DemonJim, Wise Guy Sam, BallaratBulldog, ShaunDuggan, okeydoke7 & saintkildaman and what's even more amazing was the Bombers vs Wonders match thread of S15 pre-season was it went for a total of 5 pages and 118 posts

Here is the link for the match thread which featured the infamous #lolWonders hashtag

What's most surprising about my research was the term wasn't used again for another 3 seasons not until the Grand Final match thread of Season 18 Fighting Furies vs Mount Buller Demons when boncer34 did a interview with fitzroybulldog in which he mentioned #lolWonders and from here on it seems to have become a mainstay in the SFA right up until last weeks match thread vs the Furies.

Here is the link to the Boncer34 interview in which the term was used for the 2nd time 3 seasons apart from the original

What a fantastic trip down memory lane that was.

Now stop it, it's been 10 years already come on like seriously.

Hell no. I run my club the way NaturalDisaster should run the SFA. A dictatorship. I have the first and final say.

Not when you hear what the new name is

The mighty West Coast Mosquitoes!

If you use the name West Coast Wasps, the Wazzas can't have a Wasp Friday anymore unless they want to look like they're directly supporting you guys.

Yet you ridicule Supersuns FFC

I can see the appeal but whether it's a good idea is anyone's guess. You might be locking yourself in to one team for a very, very long time plus you'd probably be stuck as captain forever as noone would want to captain "your" team.
