It's interesting though. Using a colour as an analogy. You see green, but someone who is colour blind sees a different colour. Neither are wrong, they just have different views of the same thing. I think politics can be like that at times.

And adding to that is the tribal nature politics has become. Closer to home, Andrews was a love or hate premier here in Vic, Trump is much the same and that idea of a politician being cast like that is becoming increasingly more common.

I haven’t followed American politics much before but just find it alarming that he could become leader of the most powerful country in the world. Hard to understand how anyone can defend him really - even some of his staff and family have bailed

One of the ABC channels going with "Wag the dog", one of the Nine channels "London has fallen".

I recommend (nor will I be watching) neither, just flicking through on our smart TV...waiting for a DVD to fire up (yes they still exist too!)

I'm guessing neither movie was scheduled by chance, given next Tuesday (Wednesday our time). But who would actually be watching?

Yeah me too. Think 2020 was the same, people at work following the major media websites, ABC here, CNN, BBC, etc. I certainly wasn't up at dogwatch hours!

A dog watch is a broken shift (nautical) not so much after midnight. More at the end of the day (6-10pm). It has a related meaning in newspaper slang.

Gerard Butler & Aaron Eckhart make a little bit of sick rise up in my mouth. Why would they have them both in the same movie (twice). I can’t help it, I just have an irrational disliking for both of them. Thank God for Morgan Freeman & Angela Bassett

On the other hand Eckhart would probably make a better president than the two unelectables that we’re being served up currently. Bill Pullman would obviously make a better president, at least he’d go and take on the “aliens” himself.

I’ll be wearing my I Wanna Be Elected - Alice Cooper For President - A Troubled Man For Troubled Times t-shirt next Tuesday. It won’t make any difference, but at least I’ll feel better.

I’ve watched all three Fallen movies, I just keep a bucket handy. At least Eckhart isn’t in the 3rd one.
I’ve seen Alice a couple of times, always good fun.
Make sure Elected is on the playlist and American Idiot for something a little more contemporary and timely.
I won the I’m Eighteen single on Stan Rofe’s 3UZ radio show in 1971 and was hooked from then on. Poor old 3UZ reduced to RSN now.

Governing anywhere in the world will now be a nightmare.
I’m probably one of the few , but I generally feel sorry for them.
Social media, partisan media, and internet misinformation have made it almost impossible for them to put out a coherent message.
Once Globalisations took hold ,dealing with welfare and budgetary pressures were something both sides of politics struggled to deal with.

A minor example: around my neck of the woods after some widespread flooding, people , particularly on social media were losing their collective minds because pot holes were not repaired quickly enough for them !
Nearly every road in the district was affected quite badly.
But no , they wanted it fixed ——- and now !
Their cars can’t do 40klms per hr , they only work at 110

Fair point. I stand corrected. Wasn't an explicit endorsement but a long way from where she was 4 years ago and savaging of the dems.

My point still stands about older lefties / centrists moving to the Rep camp and Rep Hawks moving to the Dems.

Ron Paul now also looking at assisting the Trump train despite serious ideological differences in key areas (eg trade) and never in the past being a fan.
