It's interesting though. Using a colour as an analogy. You see green, but someone who is colour blind sees a different colour. Neither are wrong, they just have different views of the same thing. I think politics can be like that at times.

And adding to that is the tribal nature politics has become. Closer to home, Andrews was a love or hate premier here in Vic, Trump is much the same and that idea of a politician being cast like that is becoming increasingly more common.
I haven’t followed American politics much before but just find it alarming that he could become leader of the most powerful country in the world. Hard to understand how anyone can defend him really - even some of his staff and family have bailed

I am glad I am a Monarchist - you would never have caught me dead saying that pre 2016.

If Trump was our PM, the GG would be on to the King and see you later fat boy Trump.

Even if you support a lot of Trump’s ideologies, I still don’t understand how you vote for him. He is a proven liar who will say absolutely anything that benefits him in the moment.
As ive said before, I vote for policy, rather than the person. I'd imagine many are similar, but perhaps not.

Just interested, what policies did provide 2016-2020?

1. Tax cuts for billionaires
2. 52 miles of a wall between the US and Mexico.

He has no policies apart from number 1, which is sponsored by Musk, Bezo’s, etc.

Interesting viewing options tonight on FTA TV (yes, it still exists):

One of the ABC channels going with "Wag the dog", one of the Nine channels "London has fallen".

I recommend (nor will I be watching) neither, just flicking through on our smart TV...waiting for a DVD to fire up (yes they still exist too!)

I'm guessing neither movie was scheduled by chance, given next Tuesday (Wednesday our time). But who would actually be watching?

Don't keep us in suspense, what's the DVD :)

Has Trump up in PA.

I think Harris loses from here. Hello a financial depression to the US from Tariffs and a world wide depression which includes higher interest rates for us.

Dutton will win from there in Oz. Buy gold folks and canned food I would suggest.

What time do meaningful results start to come in on Tuesday night / Wednesday morning Australian eastern summer time?

My recollection is about midnight to 2am, especially as most of the crucial swing states are in the Eastern third of the USA. Arizona being the main exception.

I like following big elections. I need to plan my sleep times so I can follow the decisive moments. Anyone else planning to follow it through the night?

This thread might finally justify its existence on Tuesday night.

From memory it's more during the day.

Remember following the year Trump won at work.

Yeah me too. Think 2020 was the same, people at work following the major media websites, ABC here, CNN, BBC, etc. I certainly wasn't up at dogwatch hours! 😄
A dog watch is a broken shift (nautical) not so much after midnight. More at the end of the day (6-10pm). It has a related meaning in newspaper slang.

Seemed like an appropriate username when I joined BF. Still does!

Gerard Butler & Aaron Eckhart make a little bit of sick rise up in my mouth. Why would they have them both in the same movie (twice). I can’t help it, I just have an irrational disliking for both of them. Thank God for Morgan Freeman & Angela Bassett 🤪

On the other hand Eckhart would probably make a better president than the two unelectables that we’re being served up currently. Bill Pullman would obviously make a better president, at least he’d go and take on the “aliens” himself.

I’ll be wearing my I Wanna Be Elected - Alice Cooper For President - A Troubled Man For Troubled Times t-shirt next Tuesday. It won’t make any difference, but at least I’ll feel better.

I remember Mike Dirnt had a No One For President sticker on his guitar in the American Idiot video, I couldn’t agree more. How relevant that song still is today.
