Recognising that fools love and trust celebrity and how that opens them up to being susceptible to being taken as a mark is his singular genius. And its something that I will always give him credit for.

It's instructive that when Rogan had a brief and very rare moment of clarity gleefully asked Zuckerberg who it was from the Biden administration that was pressuring his staff he immediately pivoted to another subject. Just as it was when he misrepresented Metas interactions with both Lina Khan and Elizabeth Warren.

Because. He. Is. A. Liar.

Zuckerberg is just doing what he did before the Biden administration and what he will do under the next and the one after that. He is sniffing the political breeze and bending to its will. Because he knows that the federal Government with its devastating anti-trust laws has the ability to break up Meta. He also understand that this threat is much increased now that the government is in the hands of a man child who's threatened to "jail Zuckerberg for life" and who's reason for being is getting revenge on or crushing those that don't pay him proper fealty. It's why we have seen a conga line of billionaire suck holes making their way down to Mar a Lardo to kiss the greasy ring.

Make no mistake they would've done the same thing and bent the knee for Harris if she'd won.

Meta like any corporation that promotes a progressive, inclusive or green agenda was and is just paying PR lip service to those ideals.

US mega investors in tikTok donate heavily to Trumps campaign.

TikTok execs meet with Trump.

The payoff:

Trump changes his tune on the ban.

Biden blinks and suspends the ban at the 11th hour. But the silly ol' fool had long ceded the narrative to Trump.

Trump promises that he alone can fix this mess.

Trump makes a statement that he will re-instate TikTok with an executive order on day one.

How it ends:

TikTok make a big show of shutting down the service and states that they have faith in Trump being its saviour.

TikTok is made available after a few hours.

Conservative politicians and influencers cheer the lifting of the ban.



The interesting part of all of this is the price that TikTok paid for all of this flipfloppery.

I suspect what we are going to witness is TikTok will be sold or go into a JV with Trump friendly investors and then go the way of X and Meta and tweak its algorithm to boost right wing voices on a platform that has traditionally been a more progressive space. It started with tearing down traditional media until it fell in line. Now the final piece of the social media puzzle that now dominates public discourse has fallen into place.

It's amazing how much power the threats of one man can wield when the shackles of governance are cast aside. Almost as amazing as how feckless the democrats have been in a) seeing it coming and b) doing anything about it when they had the power. But they're from times long gone when good governance mattered. We now live in a kleptocracy where anything goes and it's a race to **** its corpse and loot what's left over.

But I have a question, if you were sending your heart out to people, after holding your heart would your hand come out in front of you in a spreading motion, or would it go straight up in to the air in a nazi salute motion? I know I don't have to read this thread, and these days I generally do skip over a lot of posts in it, but here's my view FWIW...

Both sides need to cut the name calling. Especially so if you are visitor on this board.

It's too easy to find ways to abuse and denigrate each other if we have different opinions. It's also what a lot of provocateurs out there want to happen. We don't have to fall into that trap.

We don't have to agree on everything, but how about a bit of respect for the differences of opinion? Or how about acknowledging the many beliefs and principles that we have in common that (should) unite us?

I like discussing politics but if we can't discuss our differences of opinion without reverting to abuse then it's time to lock the thread. Or start issuing bans.
