Opinion The PB's - a celebration of 150 years. This year or later?

Should we wear the Bars this year or wait until we play in front of a home crowd?

I love reading the salty crow responses. “You stopped us wearing the state guernsey”. I think there was as much outcry from ex Crows, state players, as anyone, yet “Poort”. And it wasn’t your Guernsey in the first place,

As for Eddie comments on the Magpie being everywhere. He does realise we still use the magpie moniker in the SANFL doesn’t he? On the 150 guernsey the magpie is nowhere to be seen.

I would be pro us wearing traditions prison bars in showdowns and then the prison bars where the bars are a really really light shade of silver for all other home games.
Is there a decent mock up for this?
The only hand decent mock up I've seen is an away strip prison bars with a silver background and white bars

Let's go to court then yeah?
Unpopular opinion maybe, I don’t think Eddie want that. This is just grandstanding and chest pumping, he is smarter than that and knows he has little to nothing to stand on.

Yes he has an argument to us not using Magpie branding at AFL level but has absolutely no argument against us wearing the Prison Bars.

They are such idiots. They are always "Kick a Vic!", even when it doesn't make sense, here's a chance when it does, to show the Vics football didn't exist only in Victoria until South Melbourne moved to Sydney and they are predictably 'Port Power 1996! Not the same club! You stopped us! Hur de hur hur!'. Bloody hell, it's 30 years since they joined the AFL and they are still 'We don't care if it hurts us (which giving Collingwood another 'only Vics count' win would be), as long as it hurts Port more!'. It's over a full generation since they entered, so they are still obviously Grandpa Simpson under the lemon tree giving the story to youngsters of how Port tried to assassinate Mother Theresa on the way to meeting the VFL clubs to join their competition, whilst also stabbing everyone else in SA at the time. :drunk:

I should have been more clear, I rang the club to remove the option to make my pledge tax deductible.

Ahh yes, that makes sense. I couldn't see anywhere in the members section online and I've deleted the email relating to it.

Im not too fussed about the 'only Showdowns' part. Its a start to us wearing them regularly. We do it for a few years and then go for ANZAC day clashes, then 'at our discretion' all whilst being able to point to the zero impact to Collingwood or their brand the whole time. Showdowns only is the thin part of the wedge and once its in, we ram it home.

It seems this is the official line. I sent off an email:
"Eddie the Mouth IS correct.
Koch, and the club/board, DON'T HAVE THE GUTS to press for us using the bars jumper.
And if he did say anything he would just put his foot in his mouth. (left a bit out in case I get legalized)
And go for Eddie's throat. His ego has given us an OPPORTUNITY to gain in PR. Complain to the AFL etc. I assume that you have already done your legal due diligence, so now, in our 150th, is an excellent time.
LISTEN TO YOUR MEMBERS, who want the bars to be worn as often as we want, other than when playing Collingwood, unfortunately. (Where did Koch get this stupid idea that the members will be happy with once a year?)
Personally I want the bars to be our home jumper and finals jumper, and the V-jumper to be the away jumper."

and:
"Eddie seems very Trumpish at the moment, doesn't he! Use it.
I see that the MCC has made a donation to the MCG tenants. Followed that up yet. Maybe Eddie is using the bars to deflect criticism?
Get rid of Cos Cardone - Eddie's "inside man"."

The reply from Matthew Richardson - I appreciate your replying Matthew - was:
"Thanks for your email

I’ve asked Adam in our membership team to call you and update your membership, and thank you for your support – its very much appreciated

In relation to the Prison bar guernsey, I’d be happy to talk to you about that if you’d like
The reality is Port Adelaide has worn that jumper only 4 times in 23years
The first step is to be able to wear it annually
Yes there are some members who’d like it as our a home and away jumper
Feel free to call me and discuss
Thanks
Matthew"

Yes, a bit over the top, but keeping Ken was one of the last straws.

Is this close?

I just feel sorry for all those San Antonio Spurs fans that had to put up with them losing everything when the Nets moved to black and white, same with the Chicago Bulls and the Toronto Raptors but black and red....

/s

This is true, the Bulls were famously unsuccessful in the 90's after the Raptors were introduced.

Nope. Keep the white and change the black to a different black. I paint and I can tell you there are many different blacks.

Are you going to paint the guernseys?

Last time we had a 'different black' it was brown.
