Should we wear the Bars this year or wait until we play in front of a home crowd?

Really interesting jand somewhat surprising ust how much support we are getting on this from outside interests. Sheedy, Comettii, Barrett, Buckley. Diverse and influential. The tide of public opinion is on our side. Ram this bitch home.

It's not surprising at all.
  • The prison bar is a fantastic looking guernsey (far superior to our current guernsey) that is dripping in the history and tradition of one of the most historically significant clubs in the sport's history.
  • The arguments against us being permitted to wear the guernsey are hot garbage.
  • The main antagonist in the debate is Eddie McGuire, a guy who is not well liked within the industry and is President of a club which is not well liked and is perceived as arrogant, a bully, etc.
Public opinion was always going to go our way. The only problem we've ever had is actually getting the club to go public and turn it into something people are talking about rather than something that gets debated behind closed doors every few years.

McGuire is pretty powerful in Malbun. The AFL prioritise Collingwood's interests above all others. The Vic Bias thing is completely real. Generalky the Vic media snd public opinion will always side on bullshit arguments about " VFL Tradition". Many in the media are scared of him, particularly those affiliated with Ch 9. He's a vindictive campaigner. So yeah I reckon it is a bit surprising to be honest.

Attempt to derail ? Whaaat im a long time supporter who wants to see Ports wear what they want is all. How’s that going to derail ?

Because this is the battle ground, these are the conditions, wishing for something else instead of backing it in risks losing everything.
To use a football analogy, it’s ****ing pissing down, we just need to move that ball forward, save the fancy stuff for another week!

Didn't he join the board of Athletics Victoria and white ant them out of their home to set up his Lexus/Holden Centre within the shadows of the MCG.

He's the template our neighbours drool over and is on the poster Ricciuto sleeps under in the hope it falls on him in the night.

people went from "every game" to "baby steps" in 15 days lol

"Every game" is directed at the club, so they know to not sign away future rights. Aim high and negotiate from there.

"Baby steps" is at the AFL. The idea that 2 teams could both wear black and white in the AFL has been made unpalatable for whatever reason despite 2 teams wearing navy and white. The AFL is like the Queen Mary on issues like this, very slow and difficult to turn around. Demanding every game now will get us laughed at and the status quo will be locked in place. Getting approval to wear the bars a couple of times a season softens people up for a further push to full time wear. It keeps the guernsey in the eye of the wider AFL community and shows that the concerns of our detractors were totally unfounded.

Umm unless you were just born we’ve been trying to wear our true colours for years. Yeah let’s just inch forward maybe 150 more years ?

“We feel very strongly about what we believe in,” Davies said.

“(Koch’s reaction) has been fantastic; the club making sure it stands up for what it believes in, that’s been the hallmark of Port Adelaide throughout the last 150 years, so for us it was really important to make a stand.

“What will happen from here will happen, but there’s no doubt the club is going to fight for it.”

Unless you’ve been asleep the past 30 years, we’ve rarely worn them, now there’s a chance we will regularly, you want to not show a united front because it’s not all the time and you’d prefer never?

I understand your point and you’re entitled to it, but now’s not the time.
