Opinion The PB's - a celebration of 150 years. This year or later?

Should we wear the Bars this year or wait until we play in front of a home crowd?

I was talking re Cardone's role as CEO at McGuire's media company

I'm predicting Eddie's face will look like this.

Where has the club’s promotion of its heritage been until now? I love what has come from the club, Koch and Wines in recent days and frankly, this sort of leadership is what we the fans have been looking for for years.

Finally, the powers that be have shown that they are listening to the supporters and running this as a club and not a corporation (like the mob down the road with their “19th Stakeholders”).

Good work, keep it up and just like the club and fans ask of the players, the players and fans now ask of the club leaders:

”Never give in.”

It was part of some stuff I was posting in a guernsey/branding thread pre the club's rebrand. Hence the use of the monogram.

It was only ever meant as a discussion point but it is part of a larger project I'm working on to show a comprehensive visual identity that centres on the PA and incorporates the PB as part of our official uniform.
Thanks for the response, keep it up!

A lighter shade of silver and it would great IMO.

I posted this last year:

I like our current silver away jumper, but I would happily use this black on silver PB one as an away jumper.

But the traditional black and white PBs are always going to be my number 1 preference

I know this is a (tiresome) hobby horse of mine, but just wondering if it is possible to create the one on the left (as we look at it) with a "reflective" version of silver for the vertical stripes and horizontal cross-piece, to make it really "pop".

Say what you like about Koch's previous record, but it appears he may have developed some intestinal fortitude. Long may it continue.
As I posted in the BBTB thread, I don't think the timing of this is an accident. It is no coincidence that our announcement that we'll petition to wear the PBs for all showdowns from now on just happens to come out:
- The day after Greg Phillips is inducted to the HoF
- The day before John Abley is inducted to the HoF

There are pictures of the PBs everywhere in AFL media eight now. All the club is saying is we want that to continue, on the field, from now on.

We've been here for 150 years. It's the strongest icon of those 150 years, and it's nobodies business but ours if we want it to continue for the next 150 years.

very very good progress BUT we cannot accept any compromises in any form, which means we want to wear it EVERY GAME and should pressure the club to stop using the wrong wording ASAP, as they keep pretending we want to wear it in Showdowns only. nobody really wants that. that was an initial DESPERATE solution we came up with a few years back but things have progressed tremendously since

I haven't heard anything from Ollie. What has he said?

I like that fact that Kochie is going in hard but is still remaining respectful of Eddie. A good tactic on his part. Makes him look like the better person.

On the other hand Eddie's rants make him look even more like a nob, which is helping to galvanise support from the neutrals.

The key for me is that McGuire's tactics have changed. He's backing away from the issue of the guernsey because he knows that the battle is lost. He's trying to frame it now as if Port are trying to steal Collingwood's identity, which we're obviously not trying to do, so that when it all comes out he can say "well they might be playing in the bars but Collingwood are still the Magpies and Port never will be." He's manipulating the media so he can still position himself as the victor.

Eddie's an idiot, but he's no fool.

My biggest fear is that we agree to wear it in every showdown with a clause that we can never wear it in any other game.
He would be wise to sign such an agreement as long as it is only valid whilst he specifically is Chairman so later administrators can pick up the fight.

Both sides can be winners.

Just remember what ol’ Port Adelaide does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Port Adelaide just looks that big ol’ storm right square in the eye and says, “Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it.
