McGarry? The one player who actually finds a player with a pass? That player who runs? FFS come on, our illustrious captain burns has been far worse. McGarry and Neville are the only two that can hold their heads up this season. Can't argue with Pelle though, he goes on about playing in the SPL when he isn't even A-League standard.

You actually think Velaphi has been good? The same Velaphi who was dropped for Aleks F'n Vrteski? My Lord.

lol @ McGarry running or finding players with his passes. I won't argue about Burns being bad though.

You clearly don't watch the games if you think Velaphi has been playing poorly.

One of the few who can hold his head up, has made some fantastic saves and bar the first game of the season would be right up there in the MGP voting.

You're kidding, right? He's been at fault for close to a goal per game he has played.

If he's been so good, why did he get dropped for Vrteski? You clearly don't watch the games if you think Velaphi has been playing well.

No he hasn't. He had a poor game in round one, but since then he was outstanding in Melbourne when we won 2-0, kept a clean sheet against the Jets, and pulled off a great save to stop Wellington snatching a late draw.

Since we started losing the only goal I can think of that was his fault was the penalty he conceded against Adelaide.

But correct me if I am wrong.

Because Ferguson has as much idea as you do.:rolleyes:

No I clearly don't watch the games. In fact I just pretend I am a member and have been attending and watching the Glory since 1996.

Finally someone has found me out. Well done.:thumbsu:

He hasn't had a game where he has played well since the losing streak begun. In nearly every game he has played, there has been at least one goal he should have done better with. It's been a long day and my memory isn't great, so I'll go looking for video highlights and get back to you with more details.(if I can find highlights?)

Not even the dumbest person in the world would drop Velaphi if he was playing well for Aleks Vrteski, who is awful. Clearly, Velaphi hasn't been playing well, but sadly, we don't have an alternative.

No need to be a smartass about it, you're the one who made the absurd claim about me, so I just responded in kind.

He hasn't had a game where he has played well since the losing streak begun.

Against Brisbane he pulled off save after save to keep us in it when our defense crumpled and were letting in numerous shots at goal.

I just checked and Brisbane had 12 shots on target and Tando made seven saves according to the A-league website.

Tando and the Ferguson had a fight during a training session earlier in the season so that's why he was dropped. it was purely personal. The pathetic efforts against Sydney FC and North Queensland forced Ferguson's hand to bring him back and swallow some pride. He was fantastic last night and no one can doubt that, definately the lesser of two evils.

Brent Griffiths was immesne in central defence alongside Sir Andy last night.....Have always wanted him in the senior side after seeing him perform constantly like that for the Youth, and hes exactly what we need, a young, tall, solid defender.

Amphlett was quality too, still showed his rawness last night in patches, but remember Nikita was very raw when first started for us too and look what we got from him......We need pace and he provided it, i see when he got subbed he had ice on him, hopefully hes ok as he deserves another start.

Howie was good in central midfield too.

Youth FTW!

I can not see any of these young kids being dropped. All should keep their spot in the starting 11 but more than likely get demoted to the bench.

They want to be out there.
They play for the love of the game and not the cheque
They add that much needed energy and excitment our team needs in the build up of play and creating opportunities.

One question though. Fowler next season? My personal opinion has added $$$ for the club not sure of a massive profit but on the field has no added anything other than some good build up in play which have been wasted by others around him. And even this is limited.

Agree about Amphlett. He was fast and tricky but the end product just isn't there yet just like when Nikita first broke in to the team. We can but hope. Still, I prefer him to Pelle any day just as I prefer Griffiths to J Coyne or Harnwell any day of the week.

Perth Glory boss Tony Sage has not given up hope of persuading ageing marksman Robbie Fowler to extend his contract for one last season.

Seven goals in 15 starts has the 35-year-old alongside Brisbane's Jean Carlos Solorzano and Wellington's English striker Paul Ifiill atop the rankings and Sage believes the ex-Liverpool legend has been one of the few highs in a season of lows from Ian Ferguson’s men.

While also confirming that two-time Golden Boot Shane Smeltz could be on his radar for 2010-2011, Sage insisted that persuading Fowler to commit to a second year at nib Stadium is a priority.

Meanwhile Sage has urged Football Federation Australia to expunge referee Kris Griffiths-Jones from its roster this weekend after what he described as a "dreadful" performance officiating the 1-1 draw with North Queensland Fury at Dairy Farmers Stadium.

Naum Sekulovski and Brent Griffiths were sent off and Griffiths-Jones denied Glory what most observers believe were two clear spot-kicks, both infringements against Fowler, with Sage fuming: “I hope that the referee doesn’t get a gig this week, if he does it will be an indictment on the competition after the disaster of his performance.

I love it when Tony gets in the media and comes out swinging!:thumbsu:

I am very interested in his comment about Smeltz. Would be a great signing for us if he could get him, although it would have to be as marquee and would probably be only possible if Fowler left.

But if Robbie does go then I am happy with downgrading to Smeltz!:p

I think that is the plan, that when Fowler leaves (I can't see him staying in Australia, his family have already headed back to the UK) we go for Smeltz as our international marquee.

Where has it been said that Fowler's family has gone back home?

Rather than Sage coming out and saying he wants Smeltz, how about Mitchell gets off his fat arse and uses his contacts to get someone flying under the radar.

Worse than hitler this is.

Sports performance specialist Ric Charlesworth will lend his expertise to a review of Perth Glory's football department in the wake of the team's dramatic collapse.

Hockey coaching great Charlesworth, who is also a doctor of medicine and former Federal member of parliament, has been asked to provide an assessment of ailing Glory's football structure as part of a whole-of-club analysis.

Former Fremantle Dockers chief executive David Hatt will oversee the review, called for by the club's owner Tony Sage after the team slumped dramatically from early A-League leadership to its current position near the foot of the table.

Hatt will also examine Glory's relationship with national body, Football Federation Australia, the club's arrangement with nib Stadium and its administrative and football bases.

Great decision by Sage to do an independent review and an even better decision to get arguably the best management/coaching brain in Australian sport in Ric Charlesworth.:thumbsu:

Hopefully he is scathing and gives Tony a dose of the reality that the set-up we have is not working and will never be successful.

Following the kerfuffle in front of the Shed at the last home game, Allia (The stadium management) and the FFA have handed The Shed a suspended sentence. If another incident occurs they will:

  • Make The Shed alcohol-free
  • Get rid of wristbands so you can't save your spot
  • Ban pull-over banners
That last one is just hilarious. How the hell does banning banners stop violence?:p:rolleyes:

A teen with a disgusting rats-tail was standing in front of the Shed giving the finger, not one bit interested in the game, trying to provoke a reaction. After some pretty harmless chants were directed his way, someone threw a beer cup at him which didn't get anywhere near him. He then threw a full bottle of something and hit an old bloke in the face. The old bloke was in a pretty bad way from what I've heard.

While this was happening the security went over to this bogan and his mates and had a few words and then left.

After the kid threw the bottle a bloke and his mates jumped over the rails in The Shed and proceeded to beat the shit out of him. A huge crowd then swarmed and it got ugly. At no time during the fight did the security come over to try break it up. In fact it was after the fight had happened that the security slowly walked over to see what was going on.

Supposedly the kid and the blokes that hit him were kicked out and outside the ground the kid got beaten to a pulp and put in hospital (Not sure if serious injuries or just a bruised ego).

I am astounded that The Shed have been punished for the security not doing their job. It was clear to everyone in the area that the bogan was trying to start something and yet the security decided to leave the area and not return even while something was happening.

Can't wait for the redevelopment of the ground. No more shed. Actually, this whole load of crap is another indictment on why the club and to an extent the league is a crock. The FFA stepped in with all this didn't they? Are we that much of a threat? The team being bottom exposes the whole crapness of going to the stadium on match days. When we win it covers over the fact that the security is overzealous, the beer/food is overpriced and the fans are generally treated like idiots.

Chris Coyne is still unavailable as the club have f**ked up the international clearance (Why we have to clear our own player to play for us is astounding).

It isn't like they have had months to sort this out so come January 1 he is avaliable.

C**k up after c**k up the whole way through this saga.

Fowler's agent is in Perth discussing a contract extension which shows that Robbie wants to stay in Perth.:thumbsu:

Also the club said he needs to take a substantial pay cut to stay on which would be a win-win for everyone, Fowler stays, Tony doesn't have to pay him too much.
