Hardly, if you read my posts I quite understand where we are and am accepting of it but don't be arrogantly telling me that we can't expect any improvement next year. I think my expectations are quie reasonable. Rebut people's arguments if you like but stop being ignorant and playing the man. Pull your head in.

I deleted my post because pretty much as soon as I had posted however, I admit it could be read as playing the man' although I was trying to make a general point - I don't go back on the sentiment I expressed in the post though - it is genuine loser talk in my book because it stinks of complaining when the times are tough - not you specifically - just the general whining vibe of people who aren't happy with one win - and don't care to really sit down and put H&A in a context of support for difficult time at the Club.

Yes the current situation is a situation of the Club's own making and I see it as lower end of 'apparent' progress - not as a sign of fail. If the situation is similar next year this time - I will have changed my mind, because it will be after the third go at draft and trade period - or the 66 game rebuild time frame.

What is clear is that some supporters here just won't have the club's administration being questioned; just won't have it.

Challenging decision makers is healthy. It's the non-challenging of decision making over the last 20 years that has gotten us in trouble.

How many of you guys thought we should just persist with Wayne Hughes for "another year" whilst he was failing in the most important position at the club?
Why are you imposing a grouping over everyone that disagrees with you? Setting up this kind of a strawman is as lazy as it is false.

Each person who disagrees with you does so for their own reasons. Confront those, instead of making a claim to persecution.

mate memberships were practically given away recently
you can pick up a very basic membership for $50 with a beg on the phone

I know a couple of people who bought one recently
it was the begging that was the deal maker for one of those two guys

they used to but premium membership

Nothing wrong with this method, do you honestly think Richmond, Hawthorn, *FC and other high membership clubs have everyone on a premium membership? It's not ideal, for sure, but it's a building block of what is required. Most clubs have a 3 game membership. Nth were selling 3 game memberships for $30 at the start of the season.

We are in a situation where we need all the help we can get.

The fixation with membership numbers is a recent thing, I recall looking at the figures a few years ago, Richmond's numbers were much higher than ours yet our revenue from memberships sold was higher.

You are correct, they sell more lower level memberships.
you clearly don't understand what opportunity converting a general fan into a paid up member represents - whether that be a full member or a 3 game member - it is so important.
It provides an opportunity to engage and get the that person to buy into the brand. From that point you have the opportunity to up sell things like merchandise, club events etc. Our major sponsors also have a bigger pool of potential prospects to direct market to - marketing 101?

I think we get it!
but that is only half
The other half is allowing members to buy in and become invested in the message

I dont believe the supporters are!

Not sure you want people on your board or football department who want to go in different directions. Better off having a group of people all on the same wavelength and are very good at what they do. We want to rebuild by rebuilding a list where we end up with a lot of talent, good culture and all on reasonable money.

Can quickly change when you get the quick fix people in who blow the budget on mature age trades and free agents. You play a bit of finals and bottom out again.

If everyone at the club is happy with the direction we are taking and willing to put up with a bit of shit along the way then in my mind that's a good thing.

Keep the direction and the plan the same more or less. Don't fold to pressure. Don't bring in people who want to shake things up and potentially derail things.

No one should expect this ride to be smooth or quick. It's not about being competitive soon, it's about winning a premiership/s. Only way to do that is a slow build and cop a lot of shit along the way.

You clearly have taken my post in isolation rather than in context of it being in reply to one which was saying that we had lost our place as one of the high membership clubs when we never were one.

Whether there are advantages to having a higher membership is another issue altogether, one which I was not addressing.

My point was we haven't fallen behind and in a revenue sense we are doing quite well from memberships sold.

Disappointing to see Kate Jenkins resigning. How do others feel about this? I wonder what the reason(s) were?

It was stated That she was leaving due to increased commitments and travel requirements as Australian Sex Discrimination Commissioner.

I tip my hat to Tom Elliott, who has finally called it as it is:

"Carlton is being run as an autocratic thiefdom"

Taking calls on this now. Lo Giudice finally getting publicly called out. Chickens are coming home to roost now.
