Yep, always had one foot in the crease. People should listen to me too, my highest score was 42.
I was a ****ing average cricketer. Decent keeper but I only had one mode, see ball and hit ball. Made a 50 once off about 20 balls. Rest of the time was usually a boundary then cleaned bowled.

Yeah, sounds like me. I wanted it to be a lot faster and it's a game of discipline and concentration. I wanted to play big bash before it was invented basically.

At that level of the game in this day and age its just bad discipline by Bairstow
Yep and Pat Cummins is not as classy as Daniel Vettori.

During a Champions Trophy match between New Zealand and England in Johannesburg, Paul Collingwood wandered from his crease after leaving the final ball of an over. Wicketkeeper McCullum threw the ball at the stumps.

Collingwood was given out, but New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori intervened, holding discussions with his teammates and the umpires before deciding to recall Collingwood.

Cricket has created a controversy to make itself relevant again. The Poms tried to do it themselves but ****ed it.

Ashes cricket has always been huge look forward to it coming around every couple of years. I can watch it from 1st ball to last ball don’t even turn on 20/20 cricket

The Australians, Cummings, should have recalled Bairstow.

It was definitely against the spirit of the game and much worse than a mankad.

Are you serious?

Yes.

Bairstow marks his crease with his back leg, and is clearly not looking to run when he leaves his crease.

It is the end of the over, and both umpires have started moving as if the ball is no longer live when the ball hits.

It is legal. It may even be something that the English have tried. But that, in my opinion, doesn’t mean it isn’t against the spirit of the game. It clearly is.

By extension should Stokes not have allowed Starcs catch to stand. Everyone bar the third umpire checking for no good reason thought that was out?

Can’t agree
Poms whinging about something they tried days earlier
It wasn’t the end of the over, it hadn’t been called and Carey released the ball it one motion
The fat little ranga got beaten at his own game
And Broad would have to be biggest hypocrite in the game
Hopefully we smash the whinging little bitches 5-0

The hypocrisy of it all is the biggest laugh for me.

If England were some sort of clean upstanding beacon of purely gentlemans cricket then i could understand them being a bit miffed (i still wouldnt give a shit but id allow them their sook about it) but theyre not, in fact outside of Australia (who have gone back to ruthless win at all costs mentality, which id say is EXACTLY what you should have at elite professional level sport) England might be the next dirtiest team in recent memory.

**** em, Mankad the lot of them.

Whataboutism.

Doesn’t lend to this specific incident.

Id say its cherry picking when "spirit of the game" needs to be applied but tomato, tomato.

Youre entitled to your opinion, its a real terrible one but youre entitled to it.

Exactly right.

By the rules Bairstow was clearly out, the question is about Cummins's ethics in not withdrawing the appeal. Sometimes "winning" is not everything.

Adam Gilchrist won my respect for this, just like Cummins lost some in this incident (not that it will worry him)

They did try it, but that’s irrelevant.

This is purely and simply about the Australian cricket team and that phenomenon known as ‘The Spirit of the Game’.

If you accept that TSotG is a real thing then the batsman should have been recalled.

I want my team (the Australians) to win. But I also want them to be the standard bearers for the Spirit of the Game.

Let me preempt by saying I haven’t actually seen this footage.

But from what I have read and heard Starc’s catch was definitely a proper dismissal, and it should have been given out. Cummings was well within his rights to ask the batsman to walk, and the batter should have walked.

The poms did same thing and haven’t stop whinging that it got done to them

It’s the Ashes just WIN
All great teams are ruthless

Personally think the whinging and abuse is against the spirit of the game imo

Just like Bill Cosby, the worst part is the hypocracy

The abuse from the MCC members was terrible and you’re right is completely unacceptable and far worse than anything that happened in the game itself.

Most cricket supporters would probably say both teams got away with one each, call it a draw and play on. That’s my overarching view.
